My dad collected Shell items and when he passed away my brothers and I split it up between us. I got one half of the sign and other items are displayed below it.

What other shell stuff do you have?

I just bought this 12" porcelain Shell

There's also a Bosch sign in the lower right of the pic and a key blank sign to the left. Garage is a mess right now with all the painting.

Inspired by the Dennis Leigh Henry's post, I made this sign on photoshop and it now hangs on my toolbox.

I don't have any genuine vintage signs but have a few old 'looking' signs (and some actually old other stuff).

I've found a few new signs to hang up in the party garage this year.
This first one I had to restore before hanging it up.
Here it is ready to hang above the ice cream parlor.

Before the restoration.

Found its new home

IMG_3121 by don long, on Flickr

Next is the Van de kamp windmill
I repainted the windmill and rewired the sign for the neon and to have the fins rotate

IMG_3681 by don long, on Flickr

I also scored on this Standard pole sign

IMG_3820 by don long, on Flickr

And the last one I have worked on and got hung is this Sprite boy Coke sign
I had the name of our ice cream parlor painted on both sides of the sign and hung it in the doorway of the parlor

2018-09-08 14.07.41 by don long, on Flickr

This Coke button was found at an auction. It was damaged on the bottom making it reasonably priced. So I picked it up

I went to work repairing the button and repainting the damaged area. Now I need to find a good place to display it

Found these last year locally. At the time, we were remodeling our bathroom and I got an offer I couldn't refuse. I literally regret it every day that I sold them . :(

Really good thread.

Markbugno - I like your tool sign wall.

A few from my meager collection. Been putting off finding a place in the current garage. All need to be cleaned first. Some not so old. The plastic flea sign started to degrade, needs a Don Long resto, lol.
Most, I remember the story of where they came from.

Thanks. Neat. Any guess on the age? 70’s ?

That sign is from one of the most memorable estate sales I attended, and almost got me banned from the sale. The owner’s home had burned, and he was liquidating his entire detached shop through an estate sale company. This sale was complete mayhem, there was no household so there had to be a line of 30 guys waiting outside the shop that morning before opening. It happened to be the sale I found another piece, the Snap On WWII Bell Aircraft landing gear ratchet.

Also, the same sale where two men nearly came to blows over a large piece of shop machinery that it turned out both were buying at the same time through two differnt workers. One guy had his hand on the macbine and another was walking over with an employee from up front. This was at 9AM mind you, when they got to arguing in front of everyone at the packed sale. One guy lost it and started cussing his head off,was thrown out, and told never to return. Never seen an estate sale fight quite like that.

Anyway, I had made my way up the stairs going to the attic above the garage. There was one older man up there and I thought he was an employee. We were just making some small talk when I came down the stairs and noticed the sign on the wall along the stairs. It wasn’t priced and I asked him if it was for sale. He said yes and gave me a price, so I took it off the wall and he told the cashier how much. A little while later when I asked him the price on another item, the estate company owner confronted me and said “please stop following the owner around and asking him for prices because it’s not fair to the sale.”. I was like :shocking: It turned out the home owner was the man I had been dealing with. I felt like an idiot but I’m quite positive they were peeved about the price he gave me on that sign and were afraid to say anything to him. Very unusual for the owner to be hanging around like that but turned out he was there helping out. Heck, I would want to do the same myself if possible.

Fun lol.. not sure as I had not seen that one before.. i started in 84 in the parts business.. i see it's a cougar in the pic so i would guess late sixties or 70's.. probably 70's if I had to pick.

Yeah, very unusual.
Usually at an estate sale the owner is a ghost.

Just saying...

Anyone up on prices? I have a large embossed Quaker state sign that I might sell.
I am seeing $350 asking price for one not as good as mine. Is that close?

Found this in a building the company I work for just sold. Not a sign, more of a display.
