here's what i got.just bought a set of new craftsmans a couple weeks ago.
this multi driver was in my parents junkdrawer (dad had zero tools) since i was born. dad must of took it from work as it is stamped hammermill warehouse(long gone local paper plant). it is dated 4-70 so its older than me. it is not marked with a maker just a us patent number. any idea who made it?

I have the same Screwdriver. Mine says "Idea Days 1970 D.T. & D" On the top of the handle it says "Ford Metal Stamping" BTW notice the Napa screwdriver. I bought it and it had a Damn hole in the handle! I keep having it replaced under warranty and everyone keeps coming with a hole in the handle wtf?

Steve V, old salvage, & stevejh82,

Thanks for posting some old school goodness; everybody should have some of these great old drivers in their toolboxes.

Old screwdriver never die...they just get shorter or otherwise modified!

They are not labeled with any statement of origin, says "proturn"(which is their DIY grade junk) on the handle. I would bet $100 they are from Taiwan. They definitely look cheap compared to German drivers.

Ill take that bet.

Sure looks like "Made in Germany" to me! You can send my money via pay-pal to:

Thank's for playing!!

Sean

Sean,

I really like that set and currently have some Wiha myself.

I was curious if you bought all of those as one set and if so from where?

Thanks

Just type in the part number etc. what you are looking for like "pb6249" or "pb6249white" for example.

@superautobacs: thanks ! The black price seems to be the list price then

Great stuff... in addition to a my PB Swiss that's due any day now.. I have a few Wiha in my toolbox.. love their quality, price and feel. Though the brand new style Snapon's are also quite nice.. if a bit more pricy.

Decided to participate in this, my assortment includes Craftsman, SK, Wera, Whia, TopTul, a Stanley and a Klein, a single Snap-On, and the most recent addition, some really nice P B Swiss. I have a torque driver kit in a box in the back of the drawer and a 8 pc. Facom micro tech set in the drawer with my electronic test tools.

They are my newest, the PB Swiss line. The handle feels just right, not too soft or too tacky like some are. The flat drivers are really neat, on the tip end, the sides which would be in the slot of the screw are parallel to each other. they fit just perfect in screw slots, first driver I've ever seen with that feature. I like how the caps on the handles are marked with the tip style and size and by color, nice feature if you have them stored vertically in tool bag slots.

wow, ya'll have some impressive screwdriver collections. i dont think ive owned that my drivers over the last 30 years. i think a have a couple straight blades, and a couple phillips and for nut drivers, 7mm, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, and 7/16th is all i ever use.
especially in my service truck where space is limited, i only carry what i need to.
i have all my screw/nutdrivers in one small drawer, just the nut drivers and one straight blade and one phillips.

If you had to pick a favorite among what you have, which would it be?

I'd still like to get a nice NEW screwdriver set but there are a lot of brands and handle styles out there.

Duh, I guess I should read more carefully before answering a question. The racks are the Ernst rails, I bought them before the newer version was available. It looks like the rails will accomodate drivers of different length better than the newer style.

The ones I have,

I have not used the PB Swiss tools much yet, the Whia I almost always grab for first, but the Wera with the laser tips have loosened screws that I thought I would never get loose. For the money the big Whia set on Amazon is hard to beat, all different sizes, lengths, Torx, and a 1/4 bit driver. There are holding up real well and the grips I find comfortable to use.

Get the Whia set and add a couple of the Wera laser tips for those rusted phillips that look like they will give you a problem.

My PB Swiss just came in (photo's sometime later this week).... and I have to admit, it's going to be hard to reach over for the Wiha's and Snapon's now.. The PB Swiss with the "SwissGrip" handle are almost luxurious to hold.. I think the new S/O grip is also quite nice.. the Wiha somehow now seems 3rd rate, even if it is made in Germany and an order of magnitude better than your run of the mill ChiCom brands..

Here's most of mine, there's Craftsman flatblades in a holder under the Phillips.
Didn't show my GearWrench ratcheting set, which I like a lot!
