That was the body of a thread plate, with 3-5 different dies inside. Here is a pic of a Hoff with the dies in place.

Cut Easy -Saw this at a shop I stopped by yesterday. Didn't buy it, just captured the pic. Looks like it's from Smith Bros. Hardware Columbus, Ohio.

The B in a circle, arrow, and cross is W. Butcher ( from Sheffield, England) it's on a carpenters chisel. They made plane irons, chisels, Bowie knives, adzes, drawknifes, etc. In the late 1800's until possibly as late as the 1920's. I've never seen a catalog, though.@ararat - who does the "arrow" logo belong to?

Thanks. Seems like with the amount of stuff they produced, they would have had a catalog of some sort. There was an ad for edge tools I found on Google one time that was in the late 1910's.Some stuff in here is the only one I know of.
