I thought due to paint selection, I was done with the drill press.

Unfortunately, Chrisann came home with a rattle can from Wally World.

Anyone know how to duplicate the ruler on the face of the drill press?

Now to disasemble and prep for paint :(

Don't know how "original" you want the ruler to be, but I would just make decal to stick on there.

That reminds me, my own drill press has been calling me for a while begging me to make it one too...

My 1937 Boice Crane. This is how it looked when I bought it a couple of weeks ago, currently it's torn down and being cleaned and prepped for paint.

1.5hp Jet, 3/4" chuck, 20" swing, 18"x16" table. Awesome drill press.

I just bought the exact same one about a month ago. You are correct though, so far I think it is a great drill press for the money. I have used it quite alot over the past month and overall I am very happy with it. I just sold a Wilton 15" that had a 3/4 hp motor and it was a great drill press other than a few issues where I needed a little more umph due to the thickness/size of material and I needed a little more throat for larger parts.

I too went with a new chuck right off the bat. I ordered a 5/8" ball bearing Jacobs chuck to install in place of the cheap import chuck. Another thing that I did was fabricated and installed a 6" spacer to get the drill chuck up to a more reasonable height for working.

Nothing as fancy as some shown here, but it works, cost me $75, and will eventually get cleaned up and painted.

My drill press is a German made Ixion BST 13. It needed re-wiring, stripping, re-bluing, rust removal and painting.

Here's a pic of one of my drill presses, a Buffalo 14 I found in March of 2011. This is as found, has since had a full resto, bearings, paint, 3 ph motor and VFD. One of my favorites, the counter balanced sliding head is just one of its cool features. Extremely heavy, it's a man killer to move around. Have to try to get a more up to date pic.

I have had this press for 20 years. It does all I need and has served me well. Best thing I have done is buy that goofy little clamp to hold items when working. It is simple and gets the job done.

It is a bit bigger than the rest, Super Service 13 inch column 5 foot arm 15 HP. I have to take pics of the others that include Walker Turner, Buffalo and another smaller Cincy radial.

Nothing special, just a 5 speed craftsman that always gets the job done. It's probably 10 years old and hasn't failed me yet.

Dude, that tilt head Rockwell is the bees knees  great job!!

thanks bud. it is a 32" radial drill press. I am using it for woodworking sense it does not have the slow speed for metal work. but I am on the look out for a floor model of the vintage kind for my metal working. I just like the older machines.

Paid $150 for this piece of vintage iron. Had to drive about 5 hours to fetch it....but well worth it.

Circle 1953 Atlas "Slow Speed" drill press with a morse taper spindle. I did a full restoration on it including straightening a bent spindle, new bearings, wiring, stripping down to bare metal and custom color match. Even created a reproduction decal. I've since also found a new switch plate for it. Pictures are right after the restoration. It's a little dirtier now.

Very Nice. I have the same one, but with only the production table. Nice that you have both tables. Hopefully you also got the table crank mechanism. That production table is one heavy sucker.

1962 Clausing series 22V - unrestored, bought used, it's my first press :rocker:

That's a cute little press :D. First drill press? Way to start big. My motto with tools. "Cry once"

One can never have too many drill presses.

I have a basic Mastercraft floor model from Canadian Tire. It gets a fair bit of hobbiest use and it works well for that purpose. I traded a similar bench model for it with may Dad. He wanted the smaller one and I was fine with the floor model. I've added a few accessories to it all of which pop off for storage. It sits on a Craftsman roller stand which, although not ideal, allows me to move it away from the wall. I plan to make a more sturdy roller stand for it.

I also have a smaller Mastercraft bench model. I'll often use both at the same time. If I have a jig set up in the floor model it's nice to have the smaller one to make a few quick holes.
