My first guess is Black & Decker
Ah, I think you're on to something, but no way you could carry this one by a top handle. Looking on Vintagemachinery.
Org and found this 10" one. Bell ends and base are different. More like this one!

This one, model 74C?

Black & Decker bought out Van Dorn, a maker of electric power tools, in 1928. Van Dorn made bench grinders, valve facers, and hand-held electric tools. That purchase had a lasting effect on B&D's tool design, and the Van Dorn name was used for a while after the buyout. It might help to include that name in your searches.

Help with the proper name of this bolt, 10-32. One is broken off flush in the base. And where to get replacement of each? $10 each yikes.

Picked this up today. Not sure if it's vintage. Mid 70's? Works perfect. Switch isn't original, but doesn't look abused. Should clean up nice.

Probably discussed before but can't seem to find the answer I am looking for. Pictured is the plaque of an old Brown-Brockmeyer grinder I rescued from the garbage can of the local fire department. I got it working and has seen many hours of use in my garage in the last 20+years. Does anyone know the date of manufacture of this bench grinder?

Here's an oldie

Baldor J-300
Spins and runs nice and smoothly

It has since been cleaned up and had it's power cord replaced
It's going to get new wheels once I find some 5"ers

Very nice. Never heard of Baldor. Looks like it's ready for work once you find the wheels you're looking for.

If you decide to replace the 10" wheels, they aren't cheap, especially if you go with a good brand...
But 2HP will be nice...

It actually seems very nice. Runs smooth. It's huge and very heavy. I don't mind paying more for some good wire wheels and polishing wheels. I wanted to test it out to make sure I liked it first but now I'll order some 10" Wheels for it. Any suggestions on where to purchase them from?

Also it can be wired 110 volt or 220 volt

I have a Craftsman grinder for metal polishing, but don't do much of that any more (used to do motorcycle parts).
I restore old British briar tobacco pipes. This requires a low speed, 1325 rpm buffer.
I picked up this Craftsman on Facebook, added two long pad arbors (Caswell Electroplating). I drilled my bench so I can flip it to the other side.
I have an old furnace motor for my carnuba wax pad, mounted to my table, an old KFC restaurant table.

This would be the one to get over the Buffalo you were looking at...
Compare the thickness of the metal used in the wheel guards...
Blador is considered top quality... Had them in my shop... Built like a tank... Will last forever...
Thank you! I did already buy the Buffalo and I did already buy 10-in Wheels for the Buffalo but I'm pricing this Baldor out online and it looks like it runs from about $1K and up. It's a bit of a drive out on the Washington peninsula but I messaged to the seller to purchase it. I have time today.

What size wheels on the Baldor? 1800 RPM is half what the usual 6" grinder runs. Not a bad thing, but depends on what you are grinding and for what purposes. For 8" + it's fine.

It a 7in. Good point and I've been reading pros and cons on 1800 versus 3600. Would be nice to test out both for myself because it looks like about 50/50 across the board from what I can tell a lot people who are experienced with both from Baldor could go either way just depends on the person. I'd imagine that 1800 is geared more for torque and the 3600 is more for speed but I could be wrong. I've been trying to find something on their website for preferred application but not finding what I'm looking for.

If you're lucky enough to be first in line, I'd take that as a sign and go get it. Slower turning means less heat buildup, which is nice when sharpening tools.

Last weekend, there was an estate sale listing on CL and one of the photos showed what looked like a Baldor grinder, so I sent the image to a friend, suggesting he go buy it. (I have enough grinders already). The ad said nothing was priced and to make reasonable offers.

Two days later, this ad showed up on CL, showing the same grinder (with black paint on top) for $200.

This one is 3600 rpm. Maybe you should buy both! Port Orchard is on the way to Bremerton, if you're driving around and taking the Tacoma Narrows bridge.

EDIT -- my friend didn't buy it.

I was looking at that one also! I pick up a lot of stuff generally from Bellingham to Olympia

Torque curve for 1800rpm motor
https://www.baldorvip.com/Drawing/ACPerformance?productNumber=7306&recordId=88749

sadly, no torque curve for the 0.5hp 3600 version. But it should be half of the 1800 rpm grinder
