Nice! Is that a terrorist bot??:)

Wife is going in for foot surgery. Made a adjustable laptop table for her chair and to use when she is in bed. It's telescopic both on the rise and at the table. The table tilts too.

She's the lucky gal!
Well, that she has a custom table made for her.
Have a quick recovery.

stretched my motor mount for my stroker moped , haters feel free to hate on mopeds. Basically cut the mount in half cut 2 pieces of flat stock to 8'' lined everything up and tacked it in place , repeated on the other side. Then burned everything together with my trusty lincoln flux core. I will be adding some angle iron on all 4 corners and finally boxing the whole thing in for added strength.

Ill add more pics later when its all said and done. Id post close ups of my welds but most of them look like **** but have penetration.

Don't think anybody here "needs" to hate another guys toys, that is so lame.

SO yeah, what are you putting in that little beast anyway?
Just had to put that out there because of what i seen other people mention about the honda ruckus thread. This little beast will be 114cc's of 2 stroking 10,000 rpm glory
mopeds are alright...scooters on the other hand, lol.

What are you stretching the mount for?

Reason for the stretch is because this thing will want to wheelie really easily with the stroker motor so i want the wheel base to be a little longer plus i think it looks nuts when its stretched out a little

Anyone ever got metal down the tops of your boots i say you can't get them off fast enough.
One reason to wear sleeves is that burn you get is like a sunburn which can lead to melanoma cancer. This is not good I have it now from 2009 till this past jan it went from stage 3 to stage 4 its in my liver and spline.so for saftey don't get bernt and wear sunscreen outside

Real sorry to hear that. Best of luck in the fight to get rid of it!!

another reason is to prevent the accumulation of metal pieces IN your skin. Makes an MRI (should you ever need one) look pretty crazy & harder to read.

All these TV shows showing guys tack welding with mere closed eyelids for protection are asking for trouble. Quite frankly, I remain amazed that the network lawyers have not slipped a "do not do this at home" warning into the broadcast. Let's see, spattering molten metal meets eyelid..... yeah, "that's safe". Not for me!

I'm surprised the metal has never shown up on my various MRI's (3 in the last 2yrs), as I do most my welding in short sleeves... Are you sure about that one??? For my own sake, I have taken to wearing long sleeves recently, the skin damage (UV) isn't something I really want. I did get my forearm's tan very quickly this spring, however :D

Last time I had an MRI there was a many page questionaire about implanted medical devices (had no idea there were so many) and occupational and lifestyle questions regarding metal work and welding.

From what I've read, and asked the tech, they are mostly concerned about fragments in your eyes, or head. Also, condensed metal vapor in your sinuses. Apparently, that can happen if you weld long enough. I was told that only a few years welding (and relatively recently) was ok. The implication was someone like a pipefitter or shipyard worker from years ago was more likely to have the issue.

The concern is that the MRI will pull the fragments out, not so much that it will affect the imaging.

Last time I had an MRI, they gave me a head x-ray to confirm I didn't have metal bits in my eyes.

Yep, I'm an accountant for a hospital and our MRI pulled a floor buffer through two walls and stuck it to the side of the machine ( because the janitor left it on the wrong place overnight). I'm always scared whenever I have to have one done.:lol_hitti

Holy Kee-rap!!

I've heard of ER's using small magnets to remove metal from eyes, but never seen it myself. I can very vividly imagine a metal sliver pulled thru me the long way. OUCH, that would leave a mark...

zuk

Ohhhh yeaaaaa, it ended up doing 40-50k worth of damage to the walls/buffer/MRI.

Also made this one titled "rehab". If anyone has ever dealt with family members going through this you'll kind of understand.

Jamesbbh, Nice ! I like the expanded metal fish. I might have to try that one. I got some old 10" circular saw blades that I could cut for fins. Good work.

A quick little welding project from last night. I recently installed saddlebags on my Wide Glide but I needed a place to store them when they are not on the bike. I didn't want them sitting on the counter in the garage nor did I want them sitting on the bench in the shop to get scuffed or scratched.

I decided to fabricate a rack to hang them on the wall in the garage next to my windshield.

Mike.

Here is what I started with, 2 pieces of 3/4" thin wall square tube each measuring 12" in length. I then welded two 3/8" socket head bolts to each piece the proper distance apart so they would engage with the cam lock on the back of the saddlebag.

Completed support bars.

I then took a 36" long piece of 1" square tubing and welded the two 3/4" pieces with the bolts to it. I angled the support bars approx. 7 degrees to match the saddlebag mounts so the bags would be parallel and even when hanging on the rack.

A couple of my welds. Sorry for the fuzzy pic.

no projects yet, but i got my Everlast 250ex about 2 weeks ago, and have been welding after work about 3 days a week practicing, and things are progressing pretty good. I've never tig welded before buying the machine, but i did spend HOURS upon HOURS reading and watching every video on Youtube. Plan on making up some oil catch cans and overflow tanks as soon as my bungs get in the mail.

1/8" 6061, 95amps, 3/32 2% lanthanated, 3/32 4043 filler, about 70% ac balance, 125hz, and no pulse.

trying really hard to gain consistent puddle ripples, but i don't have the heat control down 100% yet. the factory pedal with the 250EX is a pos also so that doesn't help.

Mate Ive paid solid coin to people for stuff that doesnt look anywhere near that neat.
Excellent effort if you've only had a few nights bum in seat, torch in hand time.

I'm a new poster (old lurker) here, so I figured I might as well post a few of my projects. Nothing fancy, but I like to repurpose old stuff.

6819470664_46b5bd7870_z.jpg

Had a bucket of these old, rusty, giant nails. Don't know where they came from, but my father drug them home at some point, so I'm going to use 'em.

After bending, welding, wirebrushing, etc.

6819489594_6e8e49b840_c.jpg

Finished product. Modified the first aid kit with hooks to stay in place. Nalgene bottle was just for demonstration.

6980993005_a4c234bf9b_z.jpg

One side finished/mounted in a nissan pathfinder.

6980989565_61aed64722_z.jpg

Fast forward to the other side finished. Before anybody asks, the barrel sits ABOVE the line of fire of the driver's head, and I don't keep it loaded, or in the car most of the time. I just wanted a way to hold some of my rifles on the way to the range/etc.

6980993395_3ec66c5148_c.jpg

Shot of the whole thing.

Considering I have the cost of welding wire, and 2 cans of cheap walmart spray paint invested in them, I'm happy with the way they came out. They're bolted to the factory mounts where the stock clothes hooks were, so no extra holes were added in the interior panels. All in all, it works amazingly for what I use it for.

Project number two. My roof rack has snowboard carriers on it, and they whistle. A lot. So I went about fixing that.

7027870307_857faa82f5_z.jpg

Started with some tubing. It's just painted silver. Not galvanized, BUT I did grind down all around the welds, and use a ton of ventilation, just to be on the safe side.

7027872393_d82476fbaf_c.jpg

Used a saw blade for the side plates. I have a ton of 'em laying around, and it's cheaper to buy new ones than to retooth them these days.

6881768932_c7d2ddb952_c.jpg

The whole frame welded up and painted. I don't have any photos of heating/bending the lexan to fit, but it's 3/8" supposedly ballistic material. I'd never worked with it, so it was a lot of fun to try new techniques and add to my comfortable skillset.

Finished thing mounted on the same pathfinder. Works great, and I'm into it for about a buck, not including welding wire, so I'm very happy about it.

There are some sweet projects in here.

I finished my grinder stand the other day. The base looks small in this pic, but it is a 13" Dexter brake drum and has some good weight to it. The hub and the tube were axle parts from the 5th wheel I scrapped earlier this year, and the top is 2 pieces of 1/4" thick, 2" wide plate I welded together. To keep warpage to a minimum, I beveled the edges of the plates and made one pass on each side.
