here you go a couple of close ups. the key is the fitment.and the edges weld up with very little grinding to blend it all together.

This is an oil tank for an older Ferrari, the guy caped a breather vent..which resulted in a mini explosion and blew apart a few welds. Also this shows my love of clamps, you can never have to many.

This one wasn't recent but its the only welding pics I have. Had a bulkhead (firewall) repair on a mostly 1966 Land Rover.

If the pics don't seem to match up its because I did both the driver's and the passenger sides of the footwells and took pics when I could.

When I did this I probably hadn't welded in about 8 years or so if not more. I was pleasantly surprised to find out my welding wire was still goof.I didn't worry about grinding down the welds and making them look pretty because its a kind of beat up truck and the rubber mats would cover it.

As you can see in the 1st and 2nd pics it was pretty rusty.

This repair led to a reminder to always check and tighten your wheel nuts a year or so later . . . . . . which is the next time I drove the truck.

I've seen a few conversions using this method and I like the notion. Get a double oven, cut the metal panels separating them and connect with sheet metal. The insulation is in place, controls are there, everything in one compact package. Put it on a frame with casters and you've got a nice setup. Could even skin it in wood since the units were meant to be in cabinets.

I hope to do something like this myself.

Decided to build a storage box for my tig welder's foot pedal. I used .100" mild steel sheet metal and used 2 pieces. The main piece had 3 bends so I scored the bend lines to make it easier to bend. All the welds are tig, very fun project. I still have to make a mount for the tig cart so that's tomorrow's project.

I did up 4 sets of these drawers for the welding table.



I used the heads from new railroad spikes for the pulls.

I rough copper plated the heads them heated them to cherry and dropped them in some atf to blacken them a bit.

One of my neighbors needed a 3pt hitch. I need to trim the end caps. And weld on the receiver. I used the MM 252 with .030 wire. He should get some good use with this.

I want to share my "teach myself to weld" project. I wanted a work platform but didn't want to give up precious floor space in my garage so I decided to build one above my shop vac / dust deputy setup and use it to organize the accessories and hoses as well. This was made using a harbor freight angle grinder and a century 110v flux core welder. For the next project I'll definitely invest in a band saw.

It's made of 1/8th square tube, 1/8th angle, 18 gauge sheet metal on the bottom, and 1/8th plate on the top. Finishing touches include harbor freight castors,a magnet dish, and raptor grap toolbox liner on the top. The top is removable to empty the dust bucket.

My only regret was using Rustoleum 2X metal paint, I used the bare metal primer first and it still took 3 coats of paint for good coverage. It doesn't seem too durable either. (followed all instructions for prep and cure).

First attempt at welding AL with a 30A spool gun and Miller 252. I had to ask in here how to adjust the wire speed, I didn't know the adjustment was under the handle. I guess I should have finished welding over that top right bolt hole but I said the heck with it. I replaced the rear ramp latch on her horse trailer. Turns out the old one bolted on and they didn't make them that way now. So I cut the center out of the old one and welded the new style to the old style. I was going to just do away with the old one all together but she wanted it to look like the OEM one on the other side.

I've been trying to weld some .063 with it and have not been able to run a solid bead yet without blowing a big hole in it. I guess I'll learn someday.
