Seems like the business end of my skid loader equipment mover is a little ……. uh …… limp :lol_hitti
IMG_0011.jpeg

Logically it needs to be built better this time. The other one only lasted 8yrs. The new one will be listed in the auction poster one day lol

Chop chop !!

Shouldn’t bend this one !! That’s a stainless bolt in there as well just to make it extra snazzy

Poor little guy ….. you’ve served me well. This thing has actually held up very well considering what I’ve put it through. I have had the rear of my S300 Bobcat off the ground dragging tractors and equipment around. Not bad for a chunk of 3/16” wall tubing.IMG_0015.jpeg

Sorry for the confusion; that's an ancient saying with similar meaning as "your eyes are bigger than your stomach" - I have a friend that has a JD CUT

We were moving a few pallets that were typically around 400-500 pounds each using the forks he'd built, and ended up with me driving (I weigh 170) and my friend standing on the 3PH (he's a millwright/weldor, weighs around 300) in order to keep the back tires on the ground.

When I looked at the picture I was looking for a ballast box at the rear, completely missed seeing the wheel weights - my bad, I'll go sit in the corner now :dunno:

My Case 580 weighs around 11,000 lbs, about half of which is the backhoe - with my basic forks on the loader it will pick up one end of an empty 40' sea can (right at 5000 lbs per end) so I've gotten kinda spoiled... Steve

I have a 2000 F 350 bought new in '99. Got stolen a few years ago, was recovered and trashed, insurance company totaled it, I bought back from insurance co.; because 7.3L Powerstokes are hard to find. The bed was gone among other things. I couldn't find a decent replacement bed, so I built a flatbed for it. Truck was sitting in the driveway while I wired up the lights. Came home from work, and it was gone again; not the same thief as he's in jail in Idaho, different thieves. No shortage of them in Washington. I had installed a kill switch, and found the truck a block down the hill. Here's a few pics.

Sorry for your truck theft issues but that is a damn nice flat bed! Did you wing the design or work from plans?

My 2003 F350 bed is in sad shape between the famous Ford rusted wheel well arches and rusted out bed supports.

I worked from plans. Bought a kit from Double Diamond Fab. Kit provides plans, the three tail pieces with light cutouts, and a few gussets. I bought the steel, cut it, welded it up. Kit was $700, but I’m glad I bought it as I would designed something way heavier, and cost more. I just followed the drawings and everything went together perfectly.

I've had a 7.3L stolen from my driveway; they're popular among a certain group here in the SW to ****** people and "things".

My best advice is anytime you're going to leave a 7.3L sit for any length of time is to reach up and unplug the CPS by the waterpump (leave the plug loose in the sensor so it's not visually obvious). This will help when the thief can't figure out why it won't fire up after they get the starter cranking and likely give up.

Cross posted by request.

My fifteen year old has decided lately that he shouldn't have to help with anything that doesn't directly benefit him. I had 9 crated tillers to move from the garage to storage. This moved a fork attachment for my garden tractor loader from the someday list to the now list.
Man, that brings back memories of my first tractor, JD332. Nice job on the forklift attachment. Had a belly mower on the 332 used to manage a couple acres. Thought about adding a loader/fork, decided instead to upgrade to a Kubota B26 which I still have.

Nice work. Couple of questions. How much does the finished bed weigh? How did they steal it each time? Bust the column or something?
Is the kill switch a fuel shutoff?

Finally started on the welding part of my shop loft project. There will be a piece of 316SS on the bottom of each leg where it sets on the floor to minimize chances of rusty stuff in the future.
IMG_0162.jpeg

I’ll figure this welding thing out one day. Yesterday wasn’t that day yet lol. There will be a piece of channel like this on both legs under the back I-Beam so I can bolt them together. The back beam is only 5-1/2” wide and the legs are 6-3/4” wide so I figured I should put something in between to make the difference up.
IMG_0161.jpeg

Red beam they’ll be used in the front. Loft will be 18’ deep and 27’6” wide. 13ish cpap between the beams and the beams will span roughly 26’8” between the legs. Red beam weighs right at 92lbs/ft and is 11” x 18-1/2”.
IMG_0134.jpeg

The yellow beam, the little guy lol, weighs 41lbs/ft and is 5-1/2” x 15”. I wanted a clean cut so I didn’t use the torch for this one. I changed my mind in a hurry but was too stubborn to go halfway so I did the entire yellow beam without it lol

I figured the bed weights about 500 lbs, about 250 lbs more than stock bed. Both times they broke the doors locks and destroyed the ignition switch. Kill switch interrupts the starter relay. I know have a Lok-It ignition lock on it.

my 2000 7.3 got broken into last year, they broke the door lock/handle, and the ignition on the column. but they didn't take the truck for some reason. I assume they tried to start it and it wouldn't start because the clutch pedal wasn't depressed... and then they probably noticed it has a manual transmission and then left because they wouldn't know how to drive it

Hmm. No wonder it got stolen.
I would expect most any car thief with a screwdriver to have learned how to bypass that when he was knee high to a rattlesnake...
A fuel shutoff might have slowed them down a little more. Maybe.
Well it slowed them down enough to only get a block down the road.

Started making the floor frame for my square column drill press today.

Unfortunately, I neglected to check the size of the schedule 40 I'd bought, and needed to turn like .025 off of it, so I gotta get my plasma cutter out and cut the old one off and put the one on the lathe stand on.

The wheel hub next to it is going to be a lathe dog, I just need to turn out the splines and cut some 1.5" 8TPI threads in 'er.
