I'm tired of tripping on / shuffling the 11 bikes in my little 3 car garage. Picked up some cool hooks that trolley in unistrut. Grabbed some 2" 11ga square tubing, some triangle gussets (I added the speedholes to get my wife spicy), and leveling feet and went to town with the glue gun. Rather frustrating day as there was a steady breeze, and I already dislike MIG welding. I'll drop it off for powdercoat on Monday, trim the leveling feet stems down, and cap the tube ends with plastic pieces to clean it up. Nothing fancy with this one, but I'm glad to have the bike mess sorted.

Got the door stood up and installed Thursday along with the last of the welding. Came back Friday and got my equipment out and a few pics. Stopped at my next build a few miles down the road to see what I’m up against.
Here is the completed vault. GC is supposed to be turning over a finished store at the end of April, it will be interesting if they make it.

I have been really happy with 825 Powder Coating, Ryan. He quotes 2 week lead time and usually calls a few days later and tells me it's ready. Pricing has been really competitive, too.

Those hooks seem like they'd have a place out in my garden tool shed for organizing all the **** I have to move every time I need to get something out.
Cut and welded up most of my stool project.

Just need a few more things to arrive until I can finish it.

Made a new thread on it if y'all want to see the boring details.
Whoa! How much do you weigh? Those look like 2,000 lb-rated urethane casters!

While I was liking the rusty look on the giant ice scraper project a LOT, it was starting to leave a rust streak on the wall where it hung. Can't have that.

Before:

It was actually much worse than that after a month of scraping salty ice and hanging on a wall in the snow and rain.

After:

No mo' rust.

It occurred to me today that I hadn't done any welding in over a week. I was starting to feel a bit twitchy.

This contraption:

is something I made up a number of years ago for cleaning the three Rinnai C199s that are our sole source of hot water for the brewery. Since I use them in a recirculating mode to heat 600-1,200 gallons of water to 185 F and our water has a lot of carbonate hardness, I need to clean them between once and twice a month. It does the job, but those tiny casters... the smallest pebble brings it to a halt, and due to the tiny footprint and tall aspect, it then wants to turn turtle--not good with 10 gallons of hot acid descaler in it.

I have a pretty good stash of salvage casters, but none with that size threaded stem, so... Welder Time!

An hour later:

Much better! The front caster is fixed and the two rear ones swivel. Works pretty darn slick.

Now I need to find the original red oxide primer to match....

I figured out the mis-match of primer colors: the deeper red is X-O-Rust (True Value house brand), while the stuff I used to paint the new work was Rustoleum. I was thinking of over-painting with some X-O and then realized... it's Friday. I've used up every **** I had budgeted for the week already. It'll look fine from my house.

I don't much like the stuff anyway--much prefer Rustoleum products.

Besides, True Value (why is the ue in value not pronounced the same as in true?) hasn't really been a hardware store in years.
I really like our local True Value store, they are a lot closer than Agent Orange and had store personnel that actually knew what they are doing. Decent selection and a lot easier to get in and out of. Stopped in today for a bucket of drywall mud, all the Master Mechanic brand stuff is deeply discounted for close out. Irony is that they switched from Do it Best to True Value a few years ago, now switching back.

Interesting. Our Wallowa County Grain Growers--once a co-op grange--was a Do It Best up to a few years ago, too. Now they're a Troo Valyou (correcting the pronunciation). I guess it's back to DIB, but I doubt I'll notice the difference. But Troo Valyou is much more fun to say.
