Wakon, Does the vibration of the compressor make it hard to keep stuff on the shelves? I picture everything vibrating and falling off. Cool Idea though. I'd love to somehow incorporate a small built in air compressor and tank on my welder/plasma cart. But have yet to come up with a functional solution.

I was grinding and caught my sweat shirt on fire 7 inch round hole I thought it was getting kinda warm, the bad thing is I have a leather jacket for welding and grinding

Don't forget to wear your safety gear, and I did really like that sweat shirt too!!!

I set my pant's leg on fire just above the ankle grinding one day. No skin burns thankfully but there was hole in the pants!

Nice... I see so many coffee tables I want to build not enough living rooms to use them.

Finished my dogs raised dog dish. Made it to practice TIG. There were actually a couple nice beads that I was sad to take a grinder to.

Paint didn't turn out too great cause it's cold here but it's a dog dish so it will have to do.

I was concerned with the vibration issue too. I fabricated the (angle iron) supports for the filter stack and rubber-isolated them. The connection to the compressor itself is bolted with no isolation. There is no problem with the stuff on the shelves at all (WHEW!). When I started the project I did not know exactly how I was going to proceed, but I find a few sketches while looking at the item to be modded, & allowing time for ideas to percolate always seem to assist. Also willingness to change the initial concept to Mod 1 helps too. Post up what equipment you have that you want to include in your "does many things cart" to let us all shoot some ideas to you. Love getting those creative juices going!!

Maybe someone can help me find something on this site: a couple of pictures were posted recently of a mount for an angle grinder stand for a bench vise. Pair of 1/4 hoops that run from side bolts on grinder to flat top at grinder face.

For Will S: all angle is 2"x2"x 1/8". Top is 1/8" HRS. MIG welded with .023 wire & 75 Ar/25 CO2. Under the top- 3 angle braces, equally spaced. I notched the cross braces so that the upper structure and the braces were flush to the top.

Copied some others and made this last month. Still need to get a foot pedal.
1x1 tubing either 1/8 or 090 wall, don't remember. Table is about 12x13 7ga.

Made a welding cart for my new Miller Thunderbolt XL. I still need to get some expanded metal and attach it from the underside where the cables are, and make a low-profile box for the top.

Ehhh It's a lot of hooks to fit it all on the sides of the table.... Might need to rethink it trying to store all on the table.

Hot Chop Shop!! Wow you have a lot of clamps! I posted my welding table build in another thread, here is how I am storing clamps.

You will obviously need at least another rail, or perhaps a long rail across the front. Before welding the tube(s), see how much space each size clamp needs to comfortably clear the table top bottom edge and the shelf. I rigged mine up to do this and found the best place for the clamps I have, & how they want to hang. BTW, the plywood top pops off for welding.

Man, I've developed clamp envy now....

Post photos how you solve this, hope this helps!

My other thought is it would have been easier to add these while planning out the table in the first place. But where's the fun in that?

Spent the evening getting it all leveled, squared and clamped. Ready for weld up tomorrow.

I have a similar table design with angle iron for clamp storage...

But if you are bad at welding like me you start collecting lots of clamps to keep your projects straight and help with distortion. Once both sides filled up it's time to get more organized. If you wanna see lots of clamps check out Jack Olsen's page he has walls covered in clamps... I think he owns stock in a c-clamp company.

Suspension jig I use to check for bent lower control arms on my racecar.

Anyone try using the pallet rack beams for table legs? In the picture I would cut off the angled piece (orange section) that has the tabs for locking to the uprights. This would give a nice foot. I figure a single beam will give me two legs with enough material to do a short side (24") framing section. Four beams would be enough for a full table. I can get 8' load beams for $17 each ... so about $75 for a heavy duty table, less the top.

Thanks, it would have made more sense to incorporate a small cabinet on the underside of the table for additional storage but I like it light so I can roll it into the drive way to grind.... Maybe the next table I build will be more thought out in the planning stage. Just checked out your table thread very nice!

I like your clamp storage as well. I'm going to steal it and make one improvement (maybe)...Use square tubes that slide out from under the table. So, maybe have a 1 x 3 tube welded back under the table about 18". Weld parallel 3/4" square tubes to the 1 x 3. Add gussets to keep the 3/4" tubes from sagging. Then slide 1" tubes over them. That way you can adjust for more clamps and they're mostly under the table instead of sticking out. I guess this could be done with round tubes just as easily.

I'm extremely happy with the plasma cutter! Glad I waited and got a hypertherm... now I just need to find some projects to use it on... All the big projects I really needed it for are done.
Maybe I'll get bored and steal your welding table design as soon as I can find a nice 1-2 thick slab of awesomeness.
