^ that @jaceq is in Europe, and that it's "DROP FORGED STEEL" screams "made in Europe for the export market".

that odd hexagonal hanger hole has got to be a tell. wonder if @Eric Brown has any adjustable wrenches with that odd hanger hole?
Sorry, none of mine have the hex hanger hole. However, my collection is focused around Fulton tools and there are many other makers out there. With no country-of-origin it may be before 1930 or only produced locally and not exported. It does have a European look to it.

kind regards,

This ratcheting adjustable wrench is made by Proxene Tools, Taiwan. I think it might be the biggest producer of adjustable wrenches in the world. I have few wrenches made by Proxene, labelled with various brands, usualy good or very good quality. My Ridgid wrench looks to be made by Proxene.

Looks very similar to the adjustable wrenches made by Irega in Spain, probably borrowed some design cues. ;)

Some I got in a bulk buy last Sat -I probably wouldn't have bought any of them individually, but the Covers/Ace drain spanner is one I didn't have.

Ridgid, Auto are 15" Billings, and a 9" Crescent. Not sure on the 8" pipe, it has an oval with a "B" to the right not sure I can ever read the left side

@Chasedtoast is correct. That Ridgid is made in Spain by Irega.

Yes, I was wrong.
Below the Ridgid and two Stahlwille wrenches.
Ridgid is identical with Stahlwille in the middle - the same dimensions, handle surface, machining of the head.
Both are different to Stahlwille in the top. Seems all three made by Irega.

Can anybody recognize this wrench - who and where produced it?Durandal_6_B.jpg
...

Hello,

I know this type of simple hexagonal end as at the HAZET 185 from the 1920s, but this DURANDAL doesn't look that old.
fd1579a3930a190b39aff20c99ca882e.jpg

As a double hexagon or dodecagon on HAZET 180 and 179 between 1954 and 1976. Before and after that, it was just a simple hole.

The "DROP FORGED STEEL" is used e.g. by HAZET not at every tool - but used from the 1930s to the 1970s.
After that, it became unusual...

I suspect this DURANDAL might date back to the 1970s...
Possibly French – due to the same name of legendary sword of the French Song of knight Roland of the 11th-century.

regards

Love these with the size markings! So you have a SAE adjustable and a metric adjustable! Hilarious. Maybe these can double as micrometers!

I was watching a Grand Tour and heard James May say adjustable spanners are "the tool of a charlatan"!

I guess they are okay for plumbers. I'm with James and wouldn't use one on a car.

The 4025 pictured is an older design with a 20mm capacity, smaller adjuster and a 22° offset. The current production has the same wide opening 24mm capacity and 22.5° offset as the 4026.

The 4025 is chrome plated and has a right-handed clockwise adjustment screw. The 4026 is phosphated and has a left-handed adjustment screw which was common with some older Swedish Bahco wrenches.

These are the only two lines Stahlwille offers for adjustable wrenches, both with a range in sizes from 4” to 18”.
