Hit the Crown Label gold mine today at an estate sale. The guys gave me a break on prices so I have about $30 in this lot.

Circular saw with metal case, extra blades, 3 blade pamphlets, original wrench and edge guide, tag with inspectors # and blade warning about proper tightening with the built in brake.

Box with stapler and several boxes of staples

10" sanding disc wheel for bench and radial arm saws and a pack each of fine and coarse discs.

Miter box, band saw blades, wood chisels and V-belt

Well I got the Craftsman Crown parts cabinet from ebay a few days ago and decided to do something about the missing and poor shape drawers. I had gotten a couple of other parts cabintes for $2 for both a few days ago and robbed drawers from one that looked the best. They look like the older oval badge Craftsman parts cabinet I have. They were the right width and length but a smidge taller so I sanded them down to fit nice.

I also took some more pics of my Craftsman Crown stuff I came across.

Drill bit sharpeners, Red Leader gave me the blue label one on the left.

Keyhole saw blades, ignition (feeler) gage and ANOTHER set of ignition wrenchs

Two hacksaws and two files plus closeup photo of red hacksaw emblem

Dado set in very nice condition, old style auger drill bits (notice 3 still ahve teh little blue Craftsman caps) and another saw blade booklet.

Two different styles of wood chisels, buffing wheel, like new wood plane in the box, two different small saws (the black one's crown emblem is just to right of rivet, tan handle one is on lower edge of handle)

Picked up this crown top hacksaw at a garage sale for a buck. It has a circle "I" manufacturer marking (Parker Manufacturing Co.?). Any idea how old it is? Plastic handle grips so I'm guessing 1970s? This is one sturdy hacksaw.

It's in the 1966 catalog when it was the best one Craftsman had available. It is still in the 1973 catalog but the "best" one is now the red handled one in my post above. Yours is in nice shape good find!

Thanks. What really caught my attention when I picked it up was the fact that the frame was solid steel - not crimped metal attached to an all-plastic handle. Way more heavy duty than any other hacksaw I had.

Only two pics I have with me.

1.) A small ish, portable box. pretty good condition. Handy size compared to the more common ones I see, came with assorted tools including a new set of channelock 440's for $5 at a garage sale. I wish the top handle was metal :( I think it is going to become my trunk box.

2.) 1/4" drive socket set case housing a complete vintage correct 1/4" socket set. Came with the assorted tools in the above box.

When this thread first popped up I scoured through all my older craftsman tools to find something to post. I came up with nothing. I have some 30s-40s Craftsman, and tons of the useful V-stamped Craftsman that I love, but no crown tops.

Today, I realized that I walk past this every time I am in the garage.

Good post TheGr8erG00d!

Love that torque wrench Pomona!

Here is a stapler, complete in the package, missing only a few staples in one box!

I saw a crown top screwdriver today, first time I've seen one. Tip was busted though. Still rather unique.

I picked up these wood chisels a while ago and didn't give them much thought until I noticed that the chisels had the Crown Top Logo on them, though the wallet does not. Is that normal?

It's probably from right when the new rectangular logo was coming out. The pouch changed before the chisels did. Nice find!

Hopefully that belt sander is soon to be mine ;) They want $225... gonna offer $100 and hopefully they accept.

Just a teaser for a possible future non-Craftsman post :

attachment.php

A 1965(?) dual spindle Craftsman motor (on a 1955 Delta/Rockwell I'm not tellin' yet)
Mod#113.12190 (Emerson Electric)
MFG# K6591
3/4 HP
3450 RPM

The Crown Logo is a silver sticker.
The yellow sticker says "SEARS RECONDITIONED" with a 1986 date.
The Data tag is hard to read. It's over the top spindle and reset button, hidden by the pulley. I can read it by peeking through holes in the pulley.

I've got lots of Craftsman but not much Crown top, I'm posting two things- a mechanics chest which has the badge in a different location from the one posted above- mine is in the lower right corner instead of centered. I paid like $60-70 on ebay- got impatient looking for the $10 garage sale find.

1-DSCN2273.JPG

And the other is a 50 cent garage sale beater that lacks the badge, but you can see the crown top outline etched in grime. Maybe I'll find a replacement someday.

Alright, got them to load.

I rescued this on Saturday. It appears to have never been used and is in the origional box with paperwork. Note the 2% accuracy guarantee for life. This is actually a really nice well made tool.
