I have the same box as the middle one. it was the first box of tools i ever bought. i sold carpet samples at the swap meet for 3 weeks until i could afford it. then i rode my bike to Pimps and Queers and bought a set of wrenches and sockets in this box. Still have it all too!

Someone suggested I post a pic of my old toolbox here. I think it was in my grampas basement. It's been dropped off my truck while driving, welded up the corners because the pinch welds were giving, and used to hold over 100lbs of tools going back and forth to school.

On the right side of the bench. I'll get a better pic later since now I know that someone might care.

I'll dare to be different. Doing some yard work today I remembered these.

The pruning saw and clippers we have had forever. The pack of wrenches I got in a box of stuff I bought at a garage sale this past weekend. Missing one  O well. I'll still get my use out of them.

Also, these crown top keys were in the box (not a craftsman). If you have a matching lock/box, they are yours. Or if by a wild chance you have a lock they fit and you don't need, I would like to talk to you.

WOW, sounds like it has stood the test of time and then some. Got any up close pics? That sounds like a keeper for life, for sure.

Which wrench is missing

Hi Nine, it is missing the 15/64 open - 1/4 closed. They are "CRAFTSMAN -V-", I'll take a pic.
I'm not extremely concerned about it, would be nice, but I have a 1/4" combo wrench that I use when needed. So far in my short years I haven't ran across a 15/64 fastener. I don't think I even have a 15/64 socket. :headscrat

Post one larger so I can see the script style and I may have one for you.

Sir, if I cared about matching script style on my tools, you would throw up if you saw my main wrench "set". ;) Craftsman V to present, plomb, proto, armstrong, fleet, gearwrench, SK and a few others. Complete, but a real buffet of brands, yet they get the job done. :lol_hitti

I bought them a while ago, I think they are early because they are -v- and have no part number on them

LOVE them but don't use them because they are close to NOS

Too much information! And you gave me **** about the Red Dress Run!

I had to pick on you so I'd feel better, you went with a girl in her V12 Benz, much more fun than anything I ever get to do :3gears:

KLars1, wow those are nice have they ever been used?

Only one? :headscrat :wtf: :lol_hitti

Those are nice, right?

And yes only one, am I doing something wrong? :lol_hitti

I'm not sure they have been used, cleanest I've ever seen; These are as found, I have not cleaned them up at all.

One word

I got my first pieces of Craftsman crown top over the weekend. My grandmother got this box and contents from her brother who is now in a nursing home. She gave it to my dad who knows how much I enjoy the old Craftsman stuff. He told me to stop by that he had something for me. He said all the pieces would be duplicates for him (and me too), but I should take them to my garage. The box had a lock on it that was knocked off and boogered the latch up before it made it to my house or else I’d almost call it NOS. Also got the crown top socket inserts, hex wrenches, and ignition wrenches along with all the other made in USA Craftsman items on the table.

Very nice indeed. The whole lot looks brand new. Do those ratchets have the oil hole?

I'm still looking for a Craftsman 5197 and a 5198...

4 1/2"/77 lbs and 5"/107 lbs respectively...

If anyone knows the whereabouts of either, or both please PM me...:bowdown:

Very nice indeed! Not that you'd sell them, but any idea what that bunch would be worth, i.e. for insurance purposes?

Tim338---Thanks for your effort:bowdown::bowdown:, but that is a 5183...

The first photo is the sears catalog showing the 5183....

The second photo shows the 5197 and 5198...

The third photo shows a 5197 that belongs to an "I refuse to name" member of this board who will not sell it to me...therefore, I've decided to drive 16 penny nails into a zombie/voodoo doll that I've been saving for just such an occasion...karma is a *****...:evil:

The forth photo shows a similar Craftsman vise that has been superbly restored...:drool::drool:

I conducted a little research on sears.com. I'd say you could order a new "comparable" lot for around $250.00. That's a pretty nice gift from my old man.
