Glad I found this thread. I was given this about 5 years back. It belonged to my grandfather. He passed away in 77. Ten years before I was born. Appears to be unused, the box got a little squished from hanging half way off the shelf in the top of my grandfather’s closet (where I found it after my grandmother passed).

Probably my favorite tool I own. Don’t plan to ever use it though, it stays on display on the top of my bookshelf in my home office.

Looking through y’all’s pictures, I recognize several of the tools and boxes. They are the same style and sets that my dad is still using today!

Cheers!

Cool torque wrench TJ and great that you have that memento from your Grandpa.

Saw this chest posted on MP in Elizabethton TN for 25 bucks. Out of my grasp. Guessing it's Beech made for the Canadian market. Don't see these down here.

Picked this set up a couple months ago for $2. Missing a 10MM socket, all but one of the sockets look unused.
All are -V- but one that is -VV-

I used to have that set but passed it along. The only thing I’ve found in the wild lately is this working but well used tape measure.

This little nugget rose to the top of a scramble lot I threw together this week at a distress move-out near my work. Looks like it might fit with your lot pretty well, OldTuleGuy.....

Forgot about this little Craftsman crowntop jewel in my shop...1/2 HP Craftsman Commercial block grinder. Followed by these 6" grinder and wire wheels which I recently picked up at an estate sale. None of the wheels appear to have ever been used.

PS I do have the quench tray to the grinder for those that noticed it's missing in the pic. :0)

Nice clean grinder Tex. I love the way it's posed...lets me eyeball other goodies in your shop!

Thanks JCS! I'll look forward to getting a peek at your shop. I can only imagine the goodies you've got there!

Just got this set in the mail off the bay. The set is extremely clean and shows very light use. No engravings or rust. Nice long lever transitional ratchet! It is missing the short extension and the tommy bar if anyone has any extras?

Here is my only crown top tool that I have. My dad was given this by a widow a few years ago and he didn’t have anywhere to store it so he donated it to me. I have yet to use it, but I’ve been reading a lot about these saws while about half the consensus is that they are obsolete I figure I will spend 50 dollars on a new blade build a new top for it and give it a try. If it doesn’t seem to be worth a flip vs my HF CMS I can always recoup the money spent on blade via the Emerson recall. I already have the wood for the top so that won’t put it out anything.

I ran through a few of the 10" saws, most of which went to Emerson except an older one with a cast iron arm, it held adjustment far better the the die cast aluminum ones did and felt like a far better machine overall. I can't tell if your's is of similar vintage but hopefully it's a keeper. I have a Delta/Milwaukee turret arm that works really well but it is heavy and takes up alot of real estate compared to a SCMS but it doesn't slow down even cross cutting 12/4 white oak.

The room this one takes up is the most frustrating part. This weekend I will get out there and attempt to clean it up. It would be nice if it were a keeper but if not I may have some parts for eBay. I’ll go check out the model number and see what year this one is here in a little while before heading to work.

I can't give up the shop space for a RAS anymore. When I first got into wood working I did a ton of things with a 60s Craftsman RAS my Dad gave me. They're versatile as hell but take a lot of time to set up for specific tasks. Now with an industrial table saw and 12 inch sliding compound miter saw, the RAS has fallen by the wayside. It's in the loft of my barn as I can't bring myself to part with it since it came from my Dad.

I have yet to purchase a table saw, have needed one for years but I’m too busy buying hand tools and more tool storage at the moment. I wouldn’t have bought this RAS either but the free price was okay and my dad meant well when he dropped it off. I have a lot of stuff that I don’t need but the sentiment makes it difficult to part ways with it.

I’ll get out there tomorrow and mess with it. Bad weather rolling in tonight.

With these two Crown carry boxes I found on Friday, I may have reached my limit on these. Here are most of mine with =v= tools inside.

How can you stop on an odd number like 7? From a collector's standpoint, 10, or even 12 makes more sense.....:lol_hitti

Went junking at lunchtime, and $2.00 total made these things mine. (As to "Why" I haven't figured out yet) I'll admit I had to research the google to reveal that the "Craftsman No. 9 35481" is a "close quarters" hacksaw frame.

I found this apparently unused Crown torque wrench at a garage sale this morning. The Crown information sheet was in the box.

Found this one today for sale from the original owner's son. These are heavy duty and other than paint issues, it is in great shape. I haven't decided if I will redo this one or just leave it alone. Also shown is the catalog snip from a Craftsman box brochure I found in a 1968 gray and red chevron Craftsman logo box. Cross posted this over on the Vintage tool box thread as well.

Nice find Rubicon and in great shape. I've passed on a couple of those as both had been beaten to **** pretty badly. I think I'd wax that one down and enjoy it!

The subject of these 3/8d set boxes came up a while back either here or on the Heritage thread. I'm throwing this in here due to the embossed logo on the box which falls at the end of Heritage/beginning of Crown.

I got this box today as part of a 2fer along with a Heritage 65xx box. Looking at it, I assumed it was for a 1/2d set based on the size of the socket tray. Got it home and started putting tools in it, found the 1/2d spinner wouldn't fit. Checked the catalog for box measurements and found the 1/2d set came in a 19.5" long box while the 3/8d set came in a 17.5 box (this one). So 3/8d it is. I've had this rat for a while now and assumed it was a "Long Lever" but going back and reviewing GW's video, I'm pretty sure this is the 67-69 "Intermediate". It's in pristine condition and will live here out of place until I can find a Long Lever as depicted in the 57 catalog clip.
