I found this partial set at a Berkeley estate sale in 2016. Paid $25.00 for it and sold it on eBay for $30.00. Nothing but profit.

-Do

I would have paid $30! I bought my nice carry box for $35 from Lesserson. I paid $10 for a lot of the tools and did some horse trading with rileysan for the ratchet, extensions, t bar. I also bought a universal joint from ed4banger that is on the way.

I bought my nice carry box for $35 from Lesserson.

$25 ($23.97 after immediate eBay fee, which was followed by -$2.72 for monthly fees, so $21.25), most of which went to cover “free” shipping ($18.30). So I kept $2.95, less packing tape, styrofoam, printer ink & paper, and a small dollop of epoxy...
Good thing I paid only a couple bucks for it as found.
Don’t get me wrong: I wasn’t going to fill it myself, and I’m thrilled it went to someone who appreciates it!

Don- I think you’re mis-using the word “profit.” That $5 is “markup.” Even if the buyer paid shipping, you incurred cost against that $5 in labor and shipping materials, plus you ignore your acquisition costs (time, fuel, vehicle wear&tear), as I do, by considering them entertainment expenses.

I appreciate it very much! Sorry you didn’t make much on this but it has a great home now!

Not sure this old (1940s?) amber handle screwdriver is considered Heritage logo or earlier, but I'll park it here nonetheless.

I got my universal joint from ed4banger and added it to my heritage set! It is marked circle h but I know that at some point New Britain started to mark their tools circle h. Is this one New Britain made or hinsdale made? Either way I am super excited! Now I just need to find the hinge handle, tommy bar , shortest extension and the 9/16 plug socket!

Really no husky tools after nb buyout. Nb just used the brand name on their designs.

I added a new wrench rack to the wall. Previously, I was using the smaller (and more common) 6 slot wrench rack for my DBE wrenches. However, the uncommon 11 slot wrench rack came up for sale on eBay a couple weeks ago (which was followed a week later by another 11 slot wrench rack with a complete set of cad plated DBEs); I bought the first wrench rack but not the second.

I can count on one hand how many 11 slot wrench racks I've seen for sale and am delighted to add this one to my wall.

Arne73: How bad did you smoke your brakes when you saw that driving by? Nice find!

Rileysan: That's a great addition! I've only seen one 11-slot for sale and I was too late.

I'll have to check the RPM on the motor, it looks like a GE washing machine motor. The cap us hanging off the side with the connections exposed. That will need attention.
I poked around the insides, the tires are cracked but all there, the bottom one is loose. Otherwise it looks pretty good.20201011_163558.jpeg

The drawer was missing in the pic posted with the ad. I was looking for one on another site to guage what I was willing to pay for the 10d. As luck would have it, the "missing" drawer was in the deep drawer of the 3d roller I got with it. The agreed-on price was based on a missing drawer however the seller honored it even after we found the whiskey drawer. Turned out to be a great transaction and the box is as solid as a rock. Oddly enough, the exterior is in about the exact same condition as my 8d roller.

I was just messing with you. I saw you looking for one on the other site[emoji23] I am super jealous for sure. You could totally save that paint! Now you can send me your crown top version to match my crown top 8 drawer roller [emoji23]

Yeah it's time consuming to do it right and you certainly did it right on the tote. Looks amazing. I'm going to have to figure out how to live to be at least 314 years old to get all of my planned projects completed.

Thanks! Now I need to get back to working on my heritage/ crown combo for sure but I probably won’t be able to paint until next summer [emoji849][emoji17]

That top is going to be a great match on top of your 8D Roller. So cool that the drawer was found in the other chest. Congrats on completing the matching set.

I have a very heavily spray bombed 8D roller that I guess I will never find a 10D to match.

Someone wanted their 8 drawer to be a powr Kraft color scheme [emoji23][emoji849] I wish you were closer to the north west. I would offer to help with your dilemma [emoji23]

Came across this FB Marketplace listing for a Heritage logo Circular Saw with original case. I think the seller might be a touch ambitious at $80, but curious what the experts feel would be a good deal....Also, interestingly, this box appears to be painted in the identical manner that I have in a cantilever box, that I presumed to be an overpaint, but now it makes me wonder if my box, posted in #707, with it's thick battleship gray over the handles and latches might be an original finish? Welcoming comments to that end.

Both are repaints oob. I've yet to see a factory paint job where they blast over the hardware.

I'll take your Craftsman expertise ad infinitum, JoCo.

I would offer this observation though. In the same era, Snap-On chests had painted pulls and lift handles, and unpainted latches. Not that that is any direct correlation.

When I saw the circular saw, and the paint looking so very Navy-like, and appearing just as my cantilever, and assuming the period as 1940s...... I conjured the image that perhaps Craftsman was filling contracts in a unique way, perhaps to a spec calling out to cover exposed metal parts for better service aboard ships, that existed apart and aside from any catalog offering.

Anything is possible in the Sears world oob. I certainly don't claim to know things beyond a shadow of a doubt in regards to Craftsman stuff. I base my statement on anecdotal evidence alone. There certainly could be exceptions but that'd be a new one on me. It appears only a portion of that saw case you posted has been repainted. You can see an obvious line of demarkation between the original paint and the respray. I find it highly doubtful that Sears would be supplying them to the end user like that.

My ‘52 saw case isn’t overpainted either.
