^ I would be willing to put money on that set containing at least a 19/32", 25/32", and 31/32" socket, and possibly even the elusive 15/32" and 23/32" sizes, so I am utterly mystified by your "I absolutely don't need any SAE tools" comment.

It's really easy: you just click that little blue button that says "Buy Now"

;)

Agreed; it takes 22 sockets to get from 5/16 to 1-1/4 WITH the usual (or not so usual) 32's sockets, and that one seems to have 28 or so, including some square sockets. It also has a wingnut socket from the looks.

Hi folks. I've been doing a little cleaning up and found a single 5/16 Duro-Chrome combination wrench in my stash. I don't want it to be lonely without more Duro-Chrome to keep it company, so I will mail it to anybody that is interested in acquiring it and giving it a good home.

Cheers.

"...is this the style roundhead that you noticed had more returns ?"

More than the pear-head 6472, yes, but certainly nothing disproportionate to sales numbers.
As I recall, the returns on the smaller #2775 (3/8" drive) were more, but then that's probably because we sold more.
If the rep (Wheaton) couldn't put a kit into them and get them fixed up, we'd just write them up and get a credit on them.
I think I mentioned this before: Wheaton would show up maybe once a year and we'd go upstairs and write up the warranty stuff. The box was about the size of the toaster, and over the course of a year, supplying up to 9 in-house retail outlets and selling onesie-twosies to outside accounts, we'd maybe have 20-25 pieces in the box, and the lion's share of that was stuff like snapped EZ-outs, stripped wheel pullers that had been hit with impacts, 1/2" drive deep-wells that were blown apart with impacts - stuff like that. Not too many really legit "failures".
I think there's a pervasive misconception about the line (as well as many others) held by people who really don't have much hands-on experience with many different brands other than what their own brand loyalty keeps them using, who run with the proverbial "a guy I knew told me" stories that for reasons I don't clearly understand seem to self-perpetuate.

I don't know why you'd get negative reviews on that one- it's a nice unit. There was a 3275 just posted in the "show us your new tools" thread earlier: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5538904#post5538904
I can only assume Mr. Roze must like it, or he probably wouldn't have posted a pic of it.

Thanks four.cycle.
Info like that is interesting to me as a used tool consumer and as some one who likes to play historian too.

^ looks almost like the one I got for Christmas.
yeah.. I think you're missing a socket (or two) and the "ell" handle that keeps it all together.

didn't somebody up thread have a partial set too? (not sure if it was the same genre though - knurling/banding varied over the years.)

gah! that's not an Indestro Super.... it's a Duro-Indestro... looks almost like an S-K Superkrome all buffed up like that.... the Indestro Super 773 (or 773S short version) would have a satin finish shank and polished head.

like this one (but it's not a "Super" either - just an "Indestro")
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Indestro-3-...332977?hash=item43eac11bf1:g:5lMAAOSwr7ZW2upj

that's a tough one. if you were after, say, a 5/8" or 11/16" you'd have an easy task.
possible you might be able to find one in one of any number of "grab bag" wrench deals on Ebay.

btw: Outlaw were you looking for a 3/8" x 7/16" short offset 12-pt box end?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Indestro-Su...361529?hash=item4afa815bb9:g:uhIAAOSwoBtW3CKm
I offered him $7 and he came back $7.99 so I passed.

So that was me with the 3275 posted last month. And you are right, I do like it. For an older 1/2" ratchet, it has earned a spot in my box. It has become my oil change ratchet of choice. One because I am not having to clean a soft handle all the time, two because I feel a little bad *** using a tool significantly older than me ;) It is my first indestro tool, and I only bought it because I have seen all the talk on GJ of the brand.

I cleaned it up when I brought it home, and I am very impressed with how smooth it is. And a nice tooth count.

Looking forward to finding more!

^ Indestro ratchets are kind kind of like Arthur Grumiaux.... everybody talks about Heifetz and Perlman and Stern and Francescatti (and Snap-on), and poor ol' Arthur gets shoved off into the wings....

like turning a bolt, there's more than one way to play Mendelssohn. ;)

the term, I believe, is 'underrated".

So fourcycle, I'm guessing you are in the process of spending 25 years of profit selling DC tools, buying them back up? ;)

A big Duro Chrome DBE I got a week ago.

I'm not sure if this was ground for clearance ot they actully made the ends that thin. :dunno: But the finish is factory-like if it was ground down!

I have pictures of some of my Indestro/duro tools - I recently picked up the 3/8 female drive rat - the other sets I found last year.

I found this hammer, the Duro-Chrome 1579 at a swap meet a week ago. I had only ever seen Duro, Indestro, etc., wrenches in the past so I Googled the hammer and found zero info online about it. The hammer must be about 12 ounces and as you can see, the tips are replaceable.

With Cman for comparison.

^ Indestro offered a full line of hammers in their catalog: claw hammers, ball peen hammers, body hammers, and BFH hammers.
the earlier ball peen models seem to be highly sought-after collectibles.
I have one of their ball peens - use it all the time. My mother has one of the claw hammers.

Picked this up today with some other tools. Duro-Chrome 4491 refrigeration ratchet, 1/4 female drive.

The drive freely spun in reverse with only faint clicks forward. Upon disassembly, discovered ancient grease. After cleaning and a few drops of Rotella, nice crisp 30t action. Dunno what I'll use it for, but at least it works lol.

Hey, Indestro Super fans: just snagged over 17 inches of 1/2" breaker goodness for cheap. Some nicks and scratches, but pretty good shape overall. Detent balls are tight, beam is straight.

A little cleaning and she'll be ready to wrench!

I posted these to the vintage tools forum, someone requested I post them here, so I took a few more pictures.

This is a set of Indestro Klip-Tite wrenches I inherited from my dad, dating to around 1955. I plan to clean them up a little bit when I get a chance.

I can never seem to get direct image links to work, but here's an album: https://imgur.com/a/IMABn

Nice usable tool. Five minutes with a wire wheel or other rust remover and it will be fine.

^ still looking for a decent long Indestro 1/2" breaker that isn't beat to hell/rusted/engraved.

found an old Thorsen yesterday - not nearly as nice as the Indestro - $2.24 plus shipping comes in at about $9 bucks delivered.
