^ I saw that one about a week ago. ;) that's an excellent set - has the original screw and knurled nut. glad to see it went to a member here.

it's got one of their "rethreader" units in it, but there are all kinds of onesie-twosies out there.

I came across this set a few weeks ago at an estate sale. The guy was hoarder... basement and garage were packed full of stuff, floor to ceiling. Estate sale company opened the door and let us have at it... The box was full of other misc. junk, but I saw a few ratchets so I grabbed it. Turns out to be nearly a complete set in excellent condition with a few extras.

It is missing the 8pc Hobbyist-Ignition wrench set. Hoping I can come across one to finish out the set.

I finally finished the Indestro Super obstruction wrench set. It took me about a year. I’m still looking for a few more Duro Chrome obstruction wrenches.

Thanks four.cycle. Yeah, considering that I didn’t get them as a set and picked them up one or two at a time, they’re in pretty good shape. I have a few duplicates if anyone is trying to complete a set. I’m still looking for the Duro Chrome 7/16”, 5/8” and 11/16”. While I’m on the topic, I’m looking for the Herbrand 1/2” too.

Duro Chrome 4518RS 1.4 dr refrigeration socket set - 1939 Duro Chrome catalog No. 39M pp 82.jpg Duro Chrome February 15 1940 Distributor Net Price List.jpg

there are a couple notes on your 4518RS set in the other thread

Indestro 1454 11-pc socket set 1959 Indestro catalog pp 42.jpg

the 1454 set was fairly ubiquitous and appeared in catalogs from the 1950s through the 1970s.

Indestro brand is pretty good huh?

I got a 1/2" "Indestro Select" socket a garage-sale the other day, but the "teeth" are a little worn. I'm debating keeping it, or tossing it. It's a 12pt..

Looks like it's seen better days.
Yes, Indestro made an excellent quality product.
You can probably find a replacement for that easily on ebay.

Here’s an early Duro 1/2” ratchet. No. 675. Not sure where it fits in relation to the early flat ratchets with the swinging head.

Duro Chrome 675 ratchet does not appear in the 1935 or 1939 catalogs or in the January 21, 1935 price list.

Best wild guess: earlier than 1935.

Possibly made during the transition between the earlier open-gear stamped-steel models and the "pressed flange" (patent 1902878) ratchet which appeared in the early 1930's ?

That is an early Duro ratchet for sure,
Here is a 1945 Duro G series ignition wrench set in an extremely rare canvas roll. I added an Indestro screwdriver since the Duro drivers have mostly self destructed. Most of these sets come in a leatherette roll.

^ an Ebay seller just re-listed a 136 Indestro yellow-handled ignititon screwdriver with pocket clip, but he's asking $28.17 + shipping for the thing.
He declined my offer of $4.00 yesterday.
I have several of the yellow-handled Indestro units, but none in Duro Chrome.

BK

3baygarage: I'm inclined to agree with you on the 675 Duro ratchet - I think it's in between the units I posted above and the 3202 pressed-flange model.
Unfortunately I have nothing in the way of catalogs or advertisements that would address that question.

I've only got one Duro Chrome branded midget driver as well. Came in my G series ignition set. Here's a pic next to the No 136 Indestro driver.

I found this matching pair of tappet wrenches - SUPER-QUALITY CHROME VANADIUM STEEL No. 3, 11/16 x 5/8 - at my flea market today.

I have a complete Herbrand set, a complete Bonney set, a near-complete Long C Craftsman set, and a bunch of orphans in various brands (Vlchek, etc) all picked up in onesy-twosies. I think this is the first time I have ever found a matching pair together.

They are joining this lonely CVS No. 2 (1/2 x 9/16) and this lonely CVS No. 4A (3/4 x 7/8).

According to late 1930's catalog, Indestro made and sold a set of No. 2's and No. 3's in a Klip-Tite that I might be able to complete if I can find another No. 2. The larger sets (8 wrenches, 4 pairs) will be tougher.

And note that while they match on the flip (arcing 'FORGED IN U.S.A.') side, they are from different production eras. The two I already have are older, not SUPER-QUALITY, and not marked Indestro on the shank, and the No. 2, which doesn't have the CVS branding in italic font, is probably even older than the No. 4A.

Picked this up for $15 today. It has a Hinsdale spinner and a couple wrong or missing sockets. I think I have the right stuff somewhere. These only have lines before and after the size. No trapezoid or stars. Picked up a cute little Snapon box with some tools for $30 also.
