I also got some SO mini picks yesterday although they are the classic hard handle set that was recently re-released. 6d53716d2e54c6280aa3eb863e498b7b.jpgI already have an Instinct handle set but I have an orange hard handle collection (addiction) so had to have 'em. Now to rearrange my drawer again.

I yanked harder than anyone should on those mini picks and I was stunned they suffered zero ill effects. Mentioned this to my dealer, he said they don't bend, they break, and you have to really mean it to break one. Well worth the cost, especially on promo.

Pretty much. I've pulled and pried on a lot of stuff with them and have yet to bend them. Worth every penny imo, especially on promo.

HAHA! You are probably right!! I read the online horror stories about the plastic cams, and dissolving fuel lines and primer bulbs. I think I remember the neighbor using it. I recall a horrible and annoying droning sound like a Wankel with an open exhaust.

Worth the wait! Beautiful like I was expecting. 37d7f04cd6a6d97cc26cd9f74b89a8f7.jpga627be2ba4ae1be7d095d778e92d6b0f.jpg2d2d2516f511c760fe61e075a5153c88.jpg

Tekton !/2 drive shallow Impact sockets 29.99. the seem to be decent Quality we will see how they work long term. order some more tools from them for work to keep in my travel bag.

How does the Tekton gear compare with the Sunex stuff, we don't get either brand here? Both seem to be a similar price point, and both tons cheaper than the equivalent here in Australia.

Do you consider breaking a more desirable failure mode than bending?

If it took 20lbs of force to bend it or 50lbs of force to break it (arbitrary numbers) I'd go with break it for $200, Alex.

I imagine they're hardened, which is why the tiny pointed tips don't wear down to useless nubs the third time you clean out a rusty snap ring groove.

Like I said, to get the job done I had to put way more force on the 90* pick than I ever expected something so small to take. I was impressed. I have a couple similar small picks from other manufacturers that have bent to uselessness under a fraction of the force I used on this one. For <$50 for the 4pc set, one of Snap-On's better values, IMO.

No idea what legislation passed recently but that Prop65 warning is all over the place lately. Noticed its on every single item MAC tools sells now. Friggan California. I bet if they could make a sticker big enough to put around the entire planet they would do it.

My guess... the glue in the sticker is the reason for requiring the sticker.

I go to California once a month on business. There are buildings that literally have that warning on the glass entry doors.

It's gotten so out of hand and become so ubiquitous, no one pays any attention to it at all...which kinda defeats the point of having it in the first place.

I might do a youtube video of some of the Nepros stuff at some point. All I've ever seen on there are "unboxing" videos and I'm not convinced anyone has ever actually used their Nepros tool.

Anyone know who makes Snap On hook & pick sets? Or is a it something SO makes themselves in their factory? I need a new set & I bet the SO's are top notch but if they can be purchased under another label I bet they be a little cheaper.

They are made by Snap On in their Elkmont, Alabama plant.

Sure, but looking purely at failure mode, would you rather it break than bend?

I'd argue that failing at a higher force is desirable, but breaking rather than bending is undesirable.

Stopped by Menard's today as I was in the area picking up a sweatshirt for work. I've been meaning on getting a new bench grinder and had been saving my Menard's rebates again.

I had about $110 in rebates and this grinder, which is made my Rikon, was priced at $124. I also grabbed some Snauges for Bones and with their 11% rebate going on, I earned the difference on the cost of the grinder. . . . $14

According to Proposition 65, causes cancer only in California and no where else in the universe.

We got California-labelled Plywood a couple years ago. It claimed that plywood "May contain wood fibers, which are known to cause cancer in California". Funny on a whole bunch of levels.
And, as a bonus, I got to tell my safety guy we were afraid to use it, and ask about appropriate P.P.E.

I know, it's just overboard to the extreme. If people don't feel safe with inhaling wood dust use a dust mask when cutting wood, I do otherwise I sneeze out of control. Those California lawmakers have to implement some kind of common sense than go overboard.

Proposition 65 is the Boy who cried wolf. When you label everything will cause cancer it loses any meaning for the things you really need to avoid.

I don’t care for the X frames, but I’m not a professional user either. They just feel a little clunky to me, I prefer my Facom, which to me are more comfortable, reversible, and have just the right amount of offset.

The X-frames have some limitations due to design but they also have some great features like no other ratchet wrench. Super fine tooth count, pawl position right around the gear instead of in one spot. Hopefully the X-frame evolves into the perfect wrench one day but as they are there pretty damn fine. For some not having the reversible feature is a deal breaker. I have no offset non reversible wrenches and like them. Trade-offs for either design I suppose.

The zero offset comes in handy for me because all my combinations have offset. I'm pretty sure brake fluid is detremental to the internals of the ratchet mechanism though. I used to use my 10mm for brake bleeders in tight areas but after killing two of them I switched back to standard wrenches.
You guys with the SK X-Frame wrenches...would really like y’alls opinion on them. Wondering how you like to zero offset.
