Love those monster lights. I have a smaller one I've been using for a few years that has great battery life and is absolutely blinding. Wish I still had a tool guy to sell them to me!

Festool HK55 framing track saw. It has a really cleaver track system that automatically returns to 0 when you finish the cut and a nice stop system for both square and angled cuts.

Picked up a few things the past couple days. A Milwaukee impact to replace one that walked off, with boot. A stick light, and a charger.

f8f022347d5fa567c5544684411e9ebb.jpg

and got this Proto 3/4" drive socket set with drive tools and case for $300 from a coworker..... He barely even touched any of the sockets.

Not bad at all, i would say 3 times brighter than the normal single LED light, (hence having 3 LEDs), it swivels, and has two hooks for hanging. I actually love it. Northern Tool had a promo where you get the 1/2" impact, 2 5.0ah batteries, a charger, the boot for the impact, the stick light, and a 1/2" drive socket set, for about $400, add in a $50 off $250 coupon, plus i sold the socket set to a buddy for $40 (is $70 if bought off the shelf), and the 2 batteries and case to another buddy for $160. I got the extra charger, boot, light and impact for myself for a little over $200 (the bare tool would have been $220 plus tax).

I have the PS21-2A and have no complaints.

Here's a unscientific test that I did with the driver:

I have the same driver and i also did a review on it. lol

Paid 10.50 for two, "non functioning", fire extinguishers off a Facebook buy and sell group. Took them home, and realized they were completely fine. Hadn't been inspected since 1999, but the tops unscrewed just fine and the rubber o-rings were in decent shape yet.

They are built to be filled with water through the removable handle/valve, and then pressurized using a blow gun through the discharge hose. I didn't find that method the easiest, and it's a bit messy using my low volume home air compressor. I drilled a hole in the top of the cylinder, and inserted a short valve stem. Works way better. Super easy to fill, and monitor pressure.

Last thing to do is see if I can get the built in pressure gauge to function properly.

I got one a few weeks ago - I think list price is 200-ish. I'll admit I paid full price, but then got the non-heated logo jacket and the new hoodie for free the next week.

Sweet I got the hoodie for free too. I don't think you got a bad deal and I may push for the same.

Got my Wilton 5.5" 75th Anniversary vise the other day from Coastal Tool Supply. Fast shipping, delivered for under $300. Made in USA. Its very nicely made. The jaws are finely machined, although one side is about 0.010" higher than the other. Not perfect, but good enough for the girls I go out with. I had been looking for a USA Bullet vise for a long time, but everyone around here thinks their used junk is worth new retail.

Came with the free 4lb Bash hammer. Hecho en Mexico. Not thrilled about it, but it was free. Handle has "UNBREAKABLE" molded into it in big letters. Sounds like a challenge. :lol_hitti The handle is much more slippery than the handle of my Vaughan 4lb hammer, even with clean hands. Could be dangerous with greasy/dirty hands.

I won an eBay auction more than a month ago for 8 sets (4 Metric + 4 SAE) of GearWrench ratcheting wrenches (reversible, flex, locking flex, and stubby) and they just finally arrived this week just in time for me to put some of them to use.

The only other ratcheting wrenches I have had are a 20pc metric/sae set of Craftsman (pretty sure they are also made by Apex ie: GearWrench) that are not flex or reversible so they have no offset and I've not found them all that useful. These seem like they are going to be a lot better.

And my newest tool purchase is this OTC 7249 Ball Joint Press along with the cheapest 14pc set of adapters i could find. I ordered and received both this week. I just got done doing the front end on the truck, new upper & lower ball joints, inner & outer tie rod ends, brake pads/rotors & wheel bearings, and sway bar end links & bushings.

I'm really impressed with this ball joint press. Last time I did these ball joints I used the loaner tool from AutoZone (it was an AllTrade/PowerBuilt) and I destroyed it. 4 seconds or less with the impact and the threads stripped out completely before it even seemed like I was putting much of a load on it. The ball joint sure didn't budge. I wound up taking the control arms off and having them pressed out for me for $50 and then I just barely was able to convince AutoZone to let me get the $150 deposit back. This OTC press gave me no trouble at all zipping them out and in.

I kinda wonder how many people will recognize this.

Is that a VW / Audi oil drain plug tool?

Drain plugs have a standard hex head. I think mine is a 16mm.

Not all of them. I have used a Snap On VW / Audi oil drain plug tool that looks a lot like that pic except it had a grey/black handle instead of blue/black.

https://vw.snapon.com/SpecialToolsDetail.aspx?itemid=50140005

Edit: A google search for VW oil drain plug tool found one I believe just like JJThrasher has pictured: http://www.centurytool.net/VW10549_Assenmacher_Specialty_Tools_Oil_Drain_Plug_p/asmvw10549.htm

On that page is a pic of one being used on one of those drain plugs like I recall (hint: it's not a hex head):

slmng0.jpg

IIRC it called for that plug to be replaced with a new one at each oil change.
