Saw these the other day at my local Autozone. I thought the grip was nice.

FYI for those wondering, COO is China.
Yeah great grip and plastic encapsulation is a great idea. It's absolutely nothing more than a ~$20 ratchet, but does have the lifetime warranty so I felt comfortable with the trade off. Quality is without question lower then Taiwan made stuff.

Just left O’Reilly. I don’t really like shopping there but they are the only place that has these stubby 1/4 sockets for a good price. Plus my friend working there and my moms military discount gives me a good price. I bought me this second set of stubby metric 1/4 sockets to tighten down the pulley on the 2004 Camry. I have the same set at work. Use them everyday pretty much on something. Also got a long funnel for my sisters Honda Odyssey. Those things are a pain to put oil in because the oil filler is way down low compared to the top of the engine. Another reason I hate working on Honda lol. Metal funnels are generally easier to clean than plastic from my experience.

What don't you like about O'Reilly?

The big 3 around here (AutoZone, Advance Auto, O'Reilly) are all about the same as far as I can tell. I'd probably give a small edge to Advance.

NAPA definitely isn't as good as it used to be around here.

Thermal conductivity.

It doesn't feel cold when using a bare hand.
Or next to an alternator, starter or battery... when the negative terminal hasn't been pulled.

Got some more wera hex+ bits (have a 3/16" and 5mm already, to try them). Now I've got all the metric hex ones.

I'll see if this coin driver works well on audi clips later this week.

Rude staff here. Never fails always rude. Except my friend. That’s why I will only go there when he is there. The ones in different parts of town aren’t bad but the one that’s a mile from me is so rude. Never been treated nicely there except when he is there.

Stopped by a AutoZone that I don’t go to much. They had this 1/4 drive 15mm shallow socket there. I found that interesting as none of the other AutoZone have them that I’ve seen yet. Wondering if this is something new? It’s nice not having to order 1/4 drive 15mm sockets now. I just wish they had deep ones too. I could not find a deep one. I’ve got two more sets to complete now with this one if they would have had another one I’d of gotten it too. Duralast makes good stuff so I’m happy to add this $4.99 socket to one of my trays. AutoZone in the hood is good for something LOL.

Needed this for a particular job. Didnt want a rechargeable unit.
Used it on the low setting for 4 hours continuously with the included batteries with no hiccups.
Seems solid. Never got uncomfortable. Light output seemingly as stated.

Stopped by AutoZone on lunch. They did have the 15mm 1/4 drive sockets there too. Just one. I can’t believe I’ve been missing them the whole time I’ve been going to AutoZone lol. Got that the 3/8 17 for a socket tray I’m putting together at the house. Then a 3/8 21mm and 22mm also for the house because I have them at work already and this exact brand too haha. I love my Duralast stuff. Also got a $20 reward with this purchase so that’s good an excuse to get more tools lol 😂.

Are the Duralast sockets made in the PRC or Taiwan? I'm guessing the SATA plant in the PRC. Definitely have a Gearwrench vibe to them with their knurling and size markings. On the square drive end, do they have nice cutouts on each side for the drive retention ball or do they use some screwy notch system? Have you leaned on your other Duralast sockets? Have they served you well?

China made. Definitely a Gearwrench vibe for sure. No doubt. They have the double detent kind of like some of the Craftsman USA had. They do stay on my ratchets well though all of them. Yes I’ve put quite some force on mine. Just yesterday was leaning on a 1/4 drive 12mm no problems or slippage. Works well. I like them. I like DieHard too except my DieHard chrome started peeling which I haven’t had a problem yet with these Duralast. 626B2072-BEA6-45B8-A505-82F74E8A5B49.jpeg

Thanks for the quick response. I'm not a fan of the notches. I hoped that that system would die with Ctaftsman socket but,, it's spread to Dewalt and others. Thanks again, have a great day!!!!

Hey let's set up a meet next week. I will bring all my sockets and sell you one at a time, just like in AutoZone!

So I’ve seen these gaining popularity lately. Are they more comfortable than a head lamp? Do you find it’s an issue when you turn your head and the light doesn’t follow?

I have the rechargeable version. I like them more then a head lamp. Usually point one up and one down to get the best light pattern when working.

My opinion is limited to just the first use I mentioned.
Some others here may be able to answer better.
I forgot I was wearing it if that helps describe the comfort.
The lights flood fairly well, so the broadcast was good, but I also had on a headlight and a worklight so I havent used it any length of time solo yet.

I have a small, outdated LED headlamp that's lightweight and wear it most of my time in the shop during car projects, and I sure do forget I'm wearing it when I go out of the shop, so I sometimes wind up out on the lawn or on the street wearing my white surgical gloves with a glowing headlamp on, so I'm sure the neighbors think I'm slightly nutz.

My favorite part of LED headlamp is that it lights where I'm looking, no flopping about. Long before headlamps got good, I had a Nite Ize strap holding a small AA Mag Lite on the side of my head. This was during my parking lot mechanic days. It was pretty good, and sure beat holding a flashlight in my mouth. (A recipe for lip, gum, or tooth injury!)

Surprised, I've never seen the flashlight headband. Never could bring myself to wear a headlight for that exact reason 😆. I'd end up walking around looking like an idiot or constantly knocking it off.

I have the Snapon rechargeable neckband and like it alot. I actually bought it for my wife to avoid the landmines while taking both dogs out at night on their leashes.

14 Piece Mac metric stubby ratcheting wrenches. Got a good price and I can replace my gearwrench ones that skip too many sizes, and they're reversible. Also got a Snap On 1-1/8" torque adapter to hopefully help with some recall jobs I've been given at work.

Where did you find that deal?!?
One of the few perks of living overseas is the occasional price advantages. The Proto heavy steel (prybar, chisels) is priced good, the chrome sockets, wrenches, and ratchets...not so much.
