Went into Hazard Fraught to grab a drill press vise, walked out with way more. I have a bunch of landscaping projects this year, so had been keeping an eye out for a good deal on a plate compactor (cheaper to buy than rent with my work schedule). Out of the corner of my eye on clearance was one for what I thought was a good deal, until they knocked off another $100 by surprise.

No idea if it's any good, but for $250 It's worth a shot.

Might have to get that just for the cool lettering on the tool.

Lol, yeah, it's got some style over the run of the mill nail sets. I'll be installing some spring bronze weatherstripping and I think the short end might come in handy with the 100+ tiny nails I have to deal with.

"Vibra-Plate" is another name for those.

4 inch vise made in India $29 down from $39
6 inch portableade in India
1/2 inch Pittsburgh pro Torque wrenchade in Taiwan was a smidgen cheaper than that packet of cigarettes at $11.99 down from $21

Interesting that the torque wrench has a " lifetime " warranty and the vises have 90days. Didn't expect a lifetime warranty on the vises but rather surprised the Torque wrench came with one as many of the cheaper lifetime warranty tool brands don't offer a lifetime warranty with their Torque wrenches.

Ok... Interesting story here. I used to loan out tools to my friends. They have been all wonderful in returning them. But since Covid... my loan policy is... sorry... not today. Anyway... sometimes a tool would be returned into my mailbox on a "Drive By Tooling" so to speak.

This past Sunday... the Mrs found this wrench in our mailbox. A Urrea 9/16 in near new condition. A wrench I never owned... if this was a joke one of you guys that know where I live... please deliver the rest of the SAE Urrea extra LONG combination set.

Thank You.

Astro Tools 1/4" Nano Ratchet - Long

I like the size but it won't lock onto a koken zeal socket. It pulls right off. Fine with other sockets though. May end up going back.

Interesting. I just got this ratchet the other day. Haven’t tried putting a Zeal socket on it.

It was the first socket I tried. I then spun the ratchet around by the socket and it went flying. It's like it never goes far enough into the socket to engage the ball detent. Quick release button never even pops back out to lock.

I'm definitely interested to know if you have the same thing happen.

I’ve heard Zeal sockets not fitting on some ratchets before. I doubt it’s exclusive to your new ratchet.

I’ll let you know though

I don't have zeal sockets... send the ratchet to me... drop it in my mailbox. J/ K but I am looking at that ratchet... for purchase.
It is $15 on Amazon if you choose Amazon as the seller. Amazon isn't the current buy box because it's delayed shipping.

If you aren't using zeal sockets I haven't seen a downside so far.

I just obtained a slightly used CK WF-3 cold wire feeder for my TIG welder. It's in virtually brand-new condition, with hardly a scratch on it. I tested all of the functions, which work perfectly, and I also looked inside at the circuitry, which looks pristine with no sign of any work. I got it for less than 1/4 the cost of a new WF-5, which is the current model that I assume is the replacement for the WF-3. I've been told that the WF-3 and WF-5 are essentially the same machine, with only very minor differences. If anyone is interested in more info, here are links to an older catalogue that shows the WF-3 (scroll down to page 7) and to a spec sheet for the WF-5.

For long, continuous beads, or when used with a rotator, a TIG cold wire feeder can improve efficiency and consistency.

Also, I wanted to experiment to see if it can improve my manual TIG welding. I can do a pretty nice job on shorter TIG beads, but when the beads get more than a few inches long, I start getting a bit shaky and often end up dipping the tungsten. I attribute that to a combination of age and lack of enough practice time to keep my TIG skills fresh. Too many other projects to spend much time practicing.

I just ordered an additional TIG torch that I plan to dedicate to cold wire feeder use. I plan to make a double trigger for the torch so that I can control the welder and wire feeder either together or separately from the torch, and which will also allow me to use a foot pedal to control the welder while controlling the feeder from the torch. It should be fun to play with, and I'll plan to post some photos.

Just by sheer chance, the WF-3 fits like a glove on the bottom shelf of the TIG cart that I built a while ago. :) In fact, I don't think I could have designed it for a better fit.

Super cool new tool we bought at work that allows you to install bearings on shafts without taking very much apart. The bore range is from 10mm to 55mm. The outside diameter range is from 26mm to 120mm. You simply use the included chart to look up your bearing number. The chart then tells you which adapter to use with which installation tool. Position the bearing on the shaft and tap it on. This kit came from NSK and the adapters fit the bearings perfectly so there is no damage. We’ve used it on about 25 bearings so far. Speeds things up tremendously since you don’t have to disassemble to press on. None of the bearings were damaged during installation. IMG_2108.jpeg
