HF tool creeper for $9, and a couple cheap blue tarps.

Creeper will come in handy and its of decent size, expected something smaller to be honest.

Picked up a new 16' Lufkin tape measure and tool rack at Keim Lumber in Charm,Oh "Amish country"

KIMG1584.JPG
Tape measure has a black face and supposed to be easy to read. The tool rack was like $8-9 and going to replace some smaller home built stuff.

Almost had buyer's remorse because what it was replacing...then I saw the corner got broken somewhere on the ride home. I don't know if it got shut in the car door or something fell on it but it broke the end off up to one of the mounting holes.. oh well, in the garbage it went

I bought them a little while ago but this was my first use of the Lisle 38350 exhaust hanger plies. I never imagined they would work so well, it felt like cheating! I recommend these 1000%

IMG_3821.jpeg

I also picked up a BFH from the local landscape supply house. It’s a Trusty Cook rebrand, made in USA 💪

I had some really thick wall adhesive lined heat shrink laying around and added it to the handles for better grip on mine.

IMG_9057.jpegThis set arrived today directly from Craftsman. Supposed to be an upgrade/ warranty replacement for the sets that me and @Chrome Vanadium Cody got for Christmas from @four.cycle . Ratchet definitely feels like an upgrade for sure. I’m excited to try it out. Hopefully this one doesn’t lock up the first use like mine did originally. My first experience with the new V stuff so hopefully these don’t disappoint.

Picked this up off FBM. $100

Only the 8mm and 10mm had fingerprints on it (used a couple of times, the guy said) otherwise they all look brand new and untouched. I still tested all the flex heads and ratchet mechanisms out. They're all smooth and quiet except the 18mm which sound like a duck getting stomped on (even though it was smooth pawl feel). I tried negotiating down $10 because of it and it was a no go. We both had a good laugh at my attempt though.

I had both of the BluePoint "sockets" at one time. They were much less expensive around 2017.

There is a 3-piece set from AST that Snap On sells for an actual reasonable price (I've also had this kit) ...
Here are 2 of them, not sure why I can't find the 3rd or the 3-piece kit.

I've also heard good things about MotivX.

The motiv unit certainly looks the part.

I had to replace a CV boot on the truck this week. I picked up a 35mm Tekton socket for the axle nut. The other tools aren't quite as new.
The KTC 19mm for lugnuts is very nice - my old 19mm impact sockets had a problem with lugnuts sticking in them. Maybe they are just worn out - in any case the KTC does not have that issue.
I picked up a set of Tekton shallow 1/2" impacts a few years ago. The lower ball joint bolts on Toyota trucks are usually 14mm and that's what I was expecting, but lo and behold they were 15mm so I got to use that socket for the first time.

I recently picked up some Knipex 08 21 145 pliers, and some Merry Y75-225. I would've never known about these if it wasn't for this site; some of you are a bad influence LOL.

The Merrys are 11" long, get into smaller spaces than a square-nose combination plier, and have aggressive teeth (no cutter). So far I've only used them once, for a large cotter pin which they latched onto and extracted with ease. Yeah, I probably have 10 other pliers that would've done just as well, but these are pretty satisfying.

I only just received the little Knipex and I'm really impressed with the design and execution. These things are incredibly well-made; the joint is just perfect, and the machining and linishing are impeccable. Really looking forward to using them.

That's an excellent upgrade from your other set :wtf: The V Series compact sets run about $100. The problem you may encounter with the V Series set is also the ratchet. Its backdrag is through the roof. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to get better with use either. It's a sturdy ratchet, a little heavy, a little on the thick side. It's also not servicable, not able to disassemble it for lube or cleaning. The SBD Peeps should have used a rebadged FACOM/USAG ratchet and we'd be better off. I love those compact 1/4 drive sets though.

Not technically a tool, but it does work so I'm going to count it.

I have been using a 30 year old Grasshopper mower with a Kubota engine, and while the engine ran good, just about everything else was getting worn out. So it was time for an upgrade.

After months of searching different brands and models I was stuck between the Scag Turf Tiger 2 and a Bad Boy Renegade. My one requirement was to get another diesel. I tried out a gas Scag and was impressed.

I had to drive 2 hours to find a Bad Boy Renegade with Perkins diesel. And that's what I went home with. This thing is a beast and makes mowing enjoyable.

The deck is 1/4" thick steel, the front yokes are huge, really everything is overbuilt, and it has suspension. So far I'm in love.

Makes me want to give that Bad Boy a spankin'. I bet I'd get him to behave. lol
I don't know how to reply to that comment.

I did ask about getting a Bad Boy shirt or hat when I bought it but then thought how stupid I would look wearing a hat or shirt that said Bad Boy in big letters so I declined.

I also ordered the old man bucket attachment with tongs that allow me to pick stuff up without getting off the mower.

If you like Wilde:

Thanks for the link. I do think these sets of Wilde slip-joints are nice, and I especially like that they're made in USA, which is something that I'm trying to support as much as possible anymore. I can think of no reason to buy imported slip-joint pliers when Wilde's domestic-made offerings are available and are of good quality. I also can't credibly rationalize buying Snap-On pliers when these from Wilde are so much more reasonably priced. I bought these two sets of three each from Bowers at what I thought was a pretty nice price for all six tools. One set now resides in in the garage roll cab, and the other now lives in the basement workshop.

I salute you, sir. If only more Americans would stop and think before wearing something stupid.

Say, given the corn in the background, did you want a diesel for this mower because you already have a tank of diesel on your farm?

Got this one a few months ago.
Valuemax jigsaw off amazon for somewhere north of 20 but south of 30 and it came with a few blades.
Can't really complain about it.
It turns on , it cuts and doesn't make any funny noises or give off any unwelcome vibrations.
I've been using it this last week to make cuts for the closets I'm making for the bedroom. I like that the balde fitment is tool less using a clip.
Had never heard of this before and didn't know harbor freight existed at the time of this purhcsse on amazon but this does exceed their warrior tools as far as quality goes.

Where Wilde really excels is on the Flush Fastener models and their groove-joint-angle-jaw models. They're a few bucks more than the standard slip-joints, but after you use them you understand why.
Linemans and needle-nose: Klein makes a better product.
There isn't anything comparable to those new pointy-nosed fancy Snap-ons with the radical jaw teeth.
Just my two cents.

I now have an even longer drill bit.

IMG_8366.jpg

Note, last time I posted a pic like this, I didn't mention, that's my new 1/2" hammer drill as of a few years ago, so it's slightly larger than the average ol' corded 3/8" chuck drill.

Bosch EX1012, made in China, Amazon $7.99.

The biggest reason for the diesel is just the longevity of the engines compared to gas. The diesels are typically rated in thousands of hours where are the gas engines are rated in the hundreds if hours.

My grasshopper with a Kubota diesel has been going strong for nearly 30 years. If I get half that time from this mower I will feel I got my money's worth.

Added 3 x Ampro Pliers and 2x Klein screwdrivers to my collection for the huge sum of $30 between ebay and amazon. The Ampro cutters and combination Pliers I bought a couple of months ago were COO China and I was a little disappointed when I saw that as everything Ampro I've ever seen or had was COO Taiwan , however, I've since used them quite a bit and can pick up a 25c with them ( I know it doesn't mean much ) , they've actually been pretty good so I bought these other 3 I'd had my eye on. These arrived with no COO on them so I'm going to assume China.

The Kleins are Taiwan

-Ampro
6" slip joint CRV slip joint Pliers
8" Chrome Nikel combination Pliers
6" chrome nickel long nose Pliers

-Klein
5 in 1
11 in 1

I must say these flush fastener slip-joints are nice, and I'm glad I sprang the coupla extra bucks for them. I'm looking forward to putting them to work.

My Klein linesmans have served me well for over 40 years now. If their current offerings are as good as my old ones, they're still doing things the right way. Hopefully, here in the USA, although I haven't looked into that.

I have been impressed with those slick new SO long-nosed slip-joints, but haven't yet been able to persuade myself to spend the premium price for them, as I'm having trouble seeing where they'd do anything that one or another of the dozens of pliers I already own could do. But, it's been tempting my life-long Tool Jones, so we'll see now long until my resistance fades.
