Yard sale, $10.
Box in pristine shape with the factory seal intact. Interesting. Not much else tool-wise at this sale, so I don't think it was stolen. Turned it on and it went into the setup menu, so appears indeed to be brand new and never used. Didn't have a need for one until I saw this and quickly figured out I needed it!

I’m not sure if those is considered irony or not. I bought a 6” extension for my wera kit. The receiver has the detent locking assembly but the shank isn’t groved for it.
IMG_1092.jpeg
The handle does have a magnetic base so it doesn’t exactly fall out. But after seeing how/if it could fit into the case have made an executive decision to cut it down an inch and grove it so it locks in to the handle.

This is the one you probably wanted? https://bcfasteners.com/shop/wera-0...or-universal-magnetic-bit-holder-1-4-hex-x-4/

Which part# has yours?

EDIT: Found it, 830. That’s for Wera’s ‘Vario‘ line.

Example handle: https://products.wera.de/en/kraftfo...nality_6_mm_vario_blades_and_adaptors_80.html

Example blades:

Kind regards,

Thanks again olli, you’ve been very helpful with the wallet bleed that is wera. 😉

I did see that 4” when I was looking but I really wanted a 6” extension and obviously wasn’t paying attention to the details.

I might not cut it down right away and just create the groove and see how I like it first.

A new to me no name 6mm combo to replace the CMan raised panel that I lost working on the ball joints on my stepdaughter’s Jeep. The guy at the pawn shop let me have it for free even though I offered to give him a few cents for it, I guess it wasn’t worth his time to run it through the register.

Wera bit me on that (no pun)... So did Vessel... makes me pull my ears and scream. If only I had a lathe to fix it.

I'm not proud of it, but I may or may not have used a pair of diagonal cutters on a small e-torx and gotten away with it in a pinch once. :ROFLMAO:
Whatever works when you’re in a pinch. As a DIYer I’ve done stuff that pros would never do because I didn’t own and either couldn’t afford or have the time to get the correct tool.

Been coming across more SAE stuff that I need that past two weeks. Ordered a couple angle wrenches and crows feet from Tekton that came in today.

The crows feet I would have ordered a while ago but they have been OOS and a bit hard to come by. I do wish they were available in the same size range as the flared version.

772 Indestro standard series 7/16" combination wrench - still trying to complete a set but having trouble finding the "Super" 772 and 773 (1/2" and 9/16", respectively) This is the later "Duro/Indestro", although it's marked only "INDESTRO" - not quite the same as the earlier "Super".

2889 Indestro Super - marked with both "Super" and "PAT NO 1902878" - fairly nice shape - chrome is unblemished. The spots of rust on the knurled handle will come off easily with a brush.

and the grand prize:
"Chrom-Vanadium" 1/2" drive push-through "MADE IN W. GERMANY" ratchet which is exactly the ratchet I needed to complete a set I picked up in December, thanks to GJ member @jabberwoki !

Thank you thank you! ;)

Grabbed this 12-inch extension from HD tonight. Hoping the "locking" feature is a bonus, not a hindrance.

Wow, this thing gets a LOT of horrible reviews on various websites, including Milwaukee's.

Everything from they're weak and self-disintegrate, to the locking slide being in the "wrong" direction (pulling out releases the bits, causing a lot of bits lost in walls while trying to remove the tool from the cavity).

That last one can probably be solved with a bit of tape, and I can think of ways that the slide going the other way could cause the same problem (while pushing through a narrow opening to get to a fastener).

But, the weak construction has me a little concerned.

Do any of you have one of these, or a better one to recommended? I might return this before using it.

EDIT: Should have mentioned, the first job for this will be reaching some pocket screws inside a kitchen cabinet (wedged between the front of the cabinet and the sink). Pretty open access, so I'm sure it'll work for that.

Some gaps filling in my Frankenstein offset wrench set.
Smaller sizes are Stalewhiles while 20 -36mm are Dowidat but with skips.
Now Gedore 30x34mm has been thrown in too.

Due to me not being able to find a 35mm Gedore , I'll probably have to throw a 4th brand in too.

I picked up this wacky 11mm flare nut wrench on eBay because someone on Instagram claimed it works great. I’m skeptical, but I’ll give it a shot for my next brake line project.
IMG_6435.jpeg

Also some Sunex jumbo metric crowfoot wrenches, which I needed to cross off a row in my “tools I don’t own” spreadsheet.

Another week another batch of tools. This time mostly tools I need...

I forgot that I have a Harley in the garage, when I realised that I of coarse had to order nano sockets i standard/SAE sizes. For all those hard to reach places on a bike...
IMG_6630.jpg
New picks, a gasket scraper and two tools for all the bolts and nuts that keeps running away. The big magnet (which is telescopic) is a tool a Always needed but didn't know existed. I don't know how many times I have been on all four running my hand in the grass/gravel looking for lost bolts and nuts....
IMG_6668.JPG

Sunex 3/8 impact "semi deeps". No 20 mm enoys me to no end, you think I might have noticed that before ordering.....
A replacement magnet, my old one are at the smart place that everyone has where you place things so they don't get lost, but always are..

Thats actually the plan and why I bought these.

Im trying to unbolt the tow hook out of my bumper on my tacoma as I reversed into a steel structure protecting a fire hydrant when taking an old door frame to the scrap metal place and need to replace the bumper.
I started feeling sorry for my 1/2 breaker bar with a 38mm socket and decided I didn't want to test it's limitations as 38mm that needs a good amount of force is probably asking a bit much. I was going to heat and crayon but then saw these for sale so this I'll try before resorting to heat and crayon. I'll have the camera ready as if this fails , I'd like to get it on video , if it doent fail , I'd like to get that too. This was cheap so I don't mind testing it to its potential failure point. I'm curious to see.
This video was not to be.
While waiting for my 3/4 socket set i thought I'd give it another go with tge same breaker bar and the same 38mm impact socket which I gave up early on as I felt I was reaching the breaker bars torque limit.
Since I had aquired this 3/4 breaker bar i thought I'd try again , this time not worrying about failure and pushed it beyond where I felt I was pushing it too hard before. CRACK! It came loose, the flexing of this extendable breaker bar helped a lot here as i was able to rock it backwards and forwards as if I'd had a pipe on it. This $20 Ampro extendable breaker bar I'd got off ebay lives to see another day.

Mike, I would just use it. You can break anything with the torque and blows per minute of currently available impacts. Additionally a long extension/ bit holder like that will actually ‘eat’ a lot of the torque, like a torsion bar, depending on use … To me the reviews, that I have checked before my reply, are kinda as expected.

If you use this on kitchen cabinets in a otherwise hard to reach spot I doubt you’ll break it.

If the bit is holding to the magnet, just releasing the collar will most likely not result in a loss of the bit. There’s more to those stories that will likely have involved ‘yanking’, not enough clearance, (…).

Kind regards,
Olli

Jungle Truck dropped off thus Tekton reversible ratchet wrench.... funny thing is, I don't remember it being reversible when I ordered but what I wanted.

KIMG2386.JPG

Wanted to try a different pair of welding gloves other than my Hobart gloves. So I grabbed these mig gloves from HF, along with a 2lb dead blow hammer..KIMG2388.JPG

I don't like spending big $$ on plastic dead blows, I consider them sacrificial. If I don't like the gloves for welding, they will become wood stove gloves.

One-off tool purchase for what I hope will be a one-off job:

54352812608_9f7b6b9e8f_b.jpg

The job:

54352990645_b0df512161_b.jpg

I need to install that fan with the motor in place in a refrigeration unit. Using an L-wrench didn't get the fan tight enough and it would rattle and start to walk off the shaft (bad). Now I have it installed with Loctite blue and primer and good and tight.

Price was $5.50--less than me making one up from a 1/4" socket and cut-off L-wrench. Maybe I'll find more uses for it in the future.

I hope I never need to rely on that warranty! "For the useful life of the tool"... Hey, it broke so it's no longer useful--DENIED.

Now that I can actually read the instructions and warnings, I'll never use this tool again!

SCARY! I had no idea how dangerous a socket could be!

Thanks Olli.

I probably wouldn't abuse a 1/4-inch extension enough to damage it, but stranger things have happened.

Definitely not with a wood screw / cabinet, though. I'm sure I'd destroy the cabinet (and screw head) before coming remotely close to hurting the extension.
