Here is my first Cripe shipment:

USA Full Polish Combination Wrenches from 20 - 32mm KD and Allen (same wrench different stampings). They are replacing some Taiwan combos I had as well as supplementing the selection.

Some fill ins for the ratcheting wrenches, and some double opens I didn't have. :)

Went to Harbor Freight today. I don't normally use HF tools, so I'm getting my feet wet. I wanted to try the composite ratchet after seeing it on the forum, and I grabbed a couple screwdrivers. Can never have too many!

Those screwdrivers are actually very good. I usually grab them before my Cman pro's. Really like the grips and only $1.79-$1.99 each before 20% off. One of the best bargains on screwdrivers out there.

I got a whole set of screwdrivers, but didn't feel like taking photos of all of them. I'm slowly replacing my stuff with Craftsman. And I needed some cheap clamps, so I got 4 of those that were $.99 each at Home Depot.

Here is my new arrivels... I'm trying to buy out the duralast before it all turns to china junk.

Duralast 1/2" drive deep sockets. 10mm to 27mm (missing 19, 23, 25) And 1/2" to 1-1/8". The SAE set I purchased as a set for $35. However, the metric set I had to buy as singles. Took me 9 stores to find all the old style sockets and I'm still short the 15mm, 19mm, 23mm, & 24mm. (The 15mm in the picture is the new style.) After some careful shopping and "reward zone" purchases I got the entire 14pc metric socket set for just under $40.
(Reward offered for anyone that can find me the old style 15mm)

Next is the Duralast 8pc screwdriver set for $29.99
Duralast8pcscrewdriverset1.jpg

next is my new (to me) GM Goodwrench composite adjustable wrenches.
DSC_0024.jpg

And last but not least, 7pc 3/8" drive, Northern metric U-joint socket set for $9.95 from Northern tool. Taiwan made and under $10! Quality is better then HF, but not quite craftsman. They seem very well made, and smooth.
DSC_0026.jpg

Now Ive got to return and get the SAE set.

Almost forgot about my Titan Torx screwdrivers. $19.99 at Northern tool. T10-T30 all with hex bolsters. The only cheap set I could find with hex bolsters. Ive used them quite a bit since I got them two weeks ago and they have been great. I like them better then my Craftsman professional ones because of the handle and hex bolster.

For what it's worth, the new Taiwan-made Kobalt tools look eerily like those Duralast tools. May not be an exact match, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were the same manufacturer.

I wish they where, But their not even close to the same. The red/blue colors is the only thing they have in common and even then Kobalt does it backwards. (Duralast = red/metric, blue/SAE, New kobalt = Red/SAE, Blue/Metric)

Duralast is a part of the Great neck saw/OEM family of tools, the New Kobalt is Danaher.
Once you look past the colors, you will see that duralast & Kobalt are in no way similar. The styles, sets, sizes, materials etc are all very different.
Ive already looked very closely because they both (Kobalt & Duralast) switched OEM's within months of each other. And Great neck has been making the Kobalt screwdrivers for years now.
But unfortunately for me, the new Kobalt is just overseas Danaher that can be picked up at ACE hardware or Nothern tool for 1/3 the kobalt price.

Since we are on the subject of Duralast, this is the 3/8 comfort grip I just got in.

Ordered this on June 13 and received it today. I remember a while back someone said they were no longer available but that must have been a temporary thing I guess.

It may be old stock as it has "Guaranteed for life" on the shaft instead of "Duralast" as some of the new ratchets have. Also it has the "patent pending" on the package. Overall pretty nice though. Too bad Duralast is past it's prime already. I do like the ratchets.

Are you sure the new kobalt is Danaher made? I have read otherwise I believe on this site. I thought that the new kobalt was lg group or something like that.

No I'm not 100% sure. But I'm about 90% sure they are Danaher made based on they look just like other tools that are known for being Danaher made. (Such as Gearwrench & Allen.) And from the opinions of others on this forum.

Of course my opinion does not make it a fact. Lowe's could be the OEM for all we know. But they look so similar to other danaher tools, that I strongly believe them to be part of the Danaher tool group. I should have said "I believe" them to be made by Danaher.

Here is a little brain twister for you. I contacted Great neck to see if they made Duralast or not. I first got an email back saying "Great neck saw does not respond to rumors". Then I got another email a few weeks later saying "Great neck saw does not manufacture the Duralast brand, Please contact OEM-tools for more assistance" so I asked OEM tools if they made duralast. They sent me a message saying that they are the manufacture of Duralast tools... Now here is the crazy part... Great neck saw is the OEM of OEM tools. But according to them, they don't manufacture duralast, OEM does.....

I suspect the same is true for Kobalt and Danaher. A part of Danaher tools is the OEM of the new Kobalt, not Danaher directly anymore..

Is this 40 peice set below the same quality as pictured above? Or is it the newer cheaper one?

Visiting the in-laws. Every time we make this trip I get put to work fixing things around the house.

So far on this trip I've replaced the faucet in one bathroom, ran a water line for the fridge, and tomorrow I'll check out the disposal and replace it if needed.

Will also make a new door for access to the crawl space. Old one is ratty and needs to be trashed.

Here's the haul from today. Tools I've "had" to get because I "needed" them. Always happens like this. I'll be told what needs to be fixed, grab the things I would need to do that at my place, and end up needing more tools or getting tasked for more repairs.

Couldn't get to the old pipes to cut'm with any sort of hand saw (or even a mini saw) so a Dremel oscillating saw did the trick.

DeWalt drill/driver and impact driver combo. The drill was $159, the impact was $139, and the combo was $199. Yeah, I went with the combo.

New plumbing tools. This makes three torches that I have now. Oxy/acetylene, Mapp, and now propane. Also got an awesome blanket for plumbing work to protect the surrounding ****.

I just got some stuff for MIG welding

IMGP3932.jpg

Got some Knipex too. The cobra is 12" and I noticed a lot wider side to side play on the handles as compared to my 10" cobra. Is this normal?

IMGP3898.jpg

I will be needing some F welding clamps soon and the Strong Hand design fits the bill. I bought one to see the quality and it looks ok to me so I would be getting a few more.
