(www.german-hand-tools.com) He is ash95608 here at the garagejournal,
My experience has been more then excellent dealing with Ash, he will answer any questions you may have, he inspects all tools before shipping, his packing method is perfect and all my orders have been received very quickly from the time of order.
 for Ash

Thanks, BD. I've heard nothing but good things about Ash. I'll have to buy some once I get some money to get some good pliers.

finally received (took about 4 weeks thanks to the Canada Post lockout) an awesome set of SAE flare line wrenches from Franzdom^^^ (nice screwdriver/pick box, by the way!) there was also 2 orange stubbies in the package but forgot to add them to the picture. The length of time it took for them to arrive in no way is a reflection on Franzdom as a seller. He had them securely packed and ready to go the day after I bought them but they got stuck in the system somewhere between him and I. nonetheless, they're here and I'm very pleased with them!

also received these items from Snap On's online store. there were also some wrench holders in the box that are pictured above with the line wrenches.

there was a discussion a while ago that the Mechanic's time savers were made in China. the label on the bottom of my socket holder indicates otherwise. I also have a bit holder that was made in the US as well.

nice solid little unit! I don't know why I didn't get one of these before. I actually used it tonight a little taking the battery out of my bike and it did just as it should. I figure it'll find a home in my glove compartment and I'll probably pick up the 10 in one screwdriver before too long. At the price they want for these, I figure it's a no-brainer!

My first Snap On set also thanks to Franzdom (fast shipping). I've been looking for a set of line wrenches for awhile now...I love the way they feel. Can't wait to use them.

I use the combos currently. In both standard length, and long wrenches. Can't go wrong on anything but the price...

I'm outfitting my own box now, and considering the Williams.

Aside from holding the nws in my hand for 1 minute, i can only say that the action on the Knipex is smoother then the NWS, yet the NWS feel much more stout in the hand and the finish is superior, both grips are comfortable and either are quality tools that will give you many years of duty. Aside from that the Knipex would seem to be more available to the consumer.
Thanks! I can get the Knipex for cheaper than the NWS, but the NWS reminds me of something out of Star Wars and it would be cool to have atelast one NWS tool.

Looks like yours is in better shape than mine. the auction said new but my black box was all banged up.
And it turns out the newer instinct handles will not fit so I must amass a collection of small hard handles.

Great pliers, w/ the leverage you get they don't slip at all.

Yeah they seem pretty decent .. I didnt even know they were adjustable or even had a linkage :eyecrazy:

I wont be using them pro for a while but Am sure they will be good .. Paid US equivilent of around $35 shipped .. Not bad ..

Waiting on a few other goodies .. 1/2 deep metric 12p set, Pozi 2 & a few odd sockets to complete a few sets.

My Cripe order!

I got both deep sets. I figured for the price, it was worth a shot... Need to fill the Kobalt trays I got to test anyway...

Shipping: The price to ship each was $6. After the combined shipping though, it was $6.30 total. Packing was a small flat-rate box, and the only packing was the clear packaging on the sockets. Plus a nice note from Cripe! Which for me, isn't a big deal. If they rub a bit, it is fine. Not like it is a coin. They shipped on the 4th, and arrived on the 7th.

The Napa Sockets:

-First impressions are a nice bright chrome finish.
-The wall thickness is not thick, not thin. Just right for general use.
-Nice open interior. Speaking of, the interior has a nice bead blasted finish. but it IS FINISHED. No scaling, or other BS.
-Marking are ok. Not super clear, but not bad. I do like the little ring of straight cut knurling around the drive end.
-They fit ratchets good. Both regular, and quick release. Not loose, and the sockets use a groove on all four sides so there is no hunting for the right side.
-The hex side is a flanky drive. Not straight hex cuts.

I do not believe these are US. I'm inclined to go with the Gearwrench theory.

For $25+ shipping for a 25 piece deep set... Can't complain about that.

Pictures!

Hopefully I'll have some good feedback after use.

New tools for me..

Couldn't resist the Wera stainless steel price reductions at amazon.. Also there are two 8" felo M-Tec PH2 drivers. Got the wera 3/8" metric set at chadstoolbox.

The 1/2" and the 5/16" were not included in the set and had to be purchased separately.

MoToys,
I am not a locksmith, just a hobbyist. I love figuring out how things work, that mat makes taking apart and rekeying locks a lot easier when you can put the pins in their own spots and not have things fly around the room!

I actually came across another post of yours where you stated you work in a hardware store so I put two and two together.
You just don't see too many people/places with a lab pinning mat.:)

No you don't, but for 20 bucks it makes my life so much easier...a flat workbench and tiny pins do not agree with one another!

I never had a place to store tools, so I didn't really own any. Now that I have a new garage and a nice tool box, I started buying tools. I've made friends with the local Snap On driver, and I have a bunch of stuff on order, but here's what I have so far.

I think it was to straighten out car frames originally by the shear mass of the thing. My 4000lbs capacity fork lift can barely get a corner off the shop floor to put 2x4s under it.
I will use it as a surface plate to build a custom super-car chassis from.

I don't think so. Most straightening tables aren't that much beef...

It looks like a base for fixtures. Probably wasn't even designed for car use. Just any big *** fabrication jobs...

Either way, it is the bees knees!
