yes they're USA but they have to be the basic 6pt. If they're the MAC edge then they're taiwan.

^^

coincedently I stepped onto a Mac truck today for the first time. Guy kept referring to them as "the other guys" and was trying to impress me with some tools. In my mind I was like "okay". Seems like alot of there stuff is either rebranded or manufactured offshore. He hands me a 2011 catalogue and the new flyer. I left.

Agreed...I have some Mac stuff that i'm trying to get rid of. Switching it all out for Snap On stuff.

Yes the Snappy stuff is more expensive but you do get what you pay for....

And don't even get me started with Matco/Crapco

I am making my personal tools all MAC for sake I do not wrench like I used to, and there is finally a rep within 100 miles. Also warranty's anything I need. They have good tools just like the other trucks. Are they better? Matter of opinion, but they do have some that are, and some that aren't. You could say that about any tool truck brand though. I prefer MAC it is what I had growing up and what I bought at the dealership I worked at. I did buy and use snap on stuff as well, but not as much. My preference, and since it is all filling up a cart, I like it. I still have 2 other boxes full of both MAC and SO stuff.

Your recipt said various tools trade in, care to elaborate?

The wrench set I got from Ebay....wanted one for a while and couldn't pass up the deal i got....Small imperfection on the 14/15mm but they all look like they weren't used very much!

Finally arrived today!

I am EXTREMELY impressed. This is some seriously nice stuff.

I wish i hadn't bought the wrench set, though. 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 18. No 17. :(

I normally don't even like this sort of case, but it holds everything in there very tight without making it hard to get them out. Very nice. :)

Ratchets feel great, have a nice weight to them, nice and smooth 60 tooth. The finish on everything is great, the sockets are nice and solid feeling, the 6-points very precise. I can't wait to use them, and i think i'm going to see if they have a 1/2 drive set. This stuff is an incredible deal!

Nice tools gotta love the cases too!

I might consider their sockets after my recent purchase on some sockets didnt work out. they got a good deal in the Canadian flyer: buy 11pc metric socket set 3/8 for $120 and get a mini ratchet worth $69 for free

Are the mac sockets made in USA?

Yes all the sockets I have gotten today are USA made. The only thing Taiwan is the punch and chisel set

Matco has some really nice stuff they've just blurred the lines between Matco branded imports and true Matco a bit too much. I still think they make the best ratchets, wrenches, and sockets in the industry. Their warranty form on their website is also a great feature and they havent started asking for receipts.

Traded a POS craftsman tool box, and some older underlined loge SO sockets, the mac 44pc set 3/8 that I just got off eBay, and all the stuff that no one was interested on the forum, ie channel lock screwdriver set, proto 1/2" dr breaker bars, loose sockets and I did trade 1 purse for the mac purse. Seems his wife loves kitties :lol_hitti

I was into the traded stuff less than 600 bucks, walked away with 1700 bucks worth of tools with 2 items back ordered the metric 14 pc wrench set and the impact driver sets, and I have a 600 and change order in for next week. My favorites are the wrenches and the prybars. Green to boot!

Mine are marked USA. He has sets that are made in Taiwan too, but I ask all that could be USA. And the P/C set I got is already being used today. It works just as well as the 500 set from SO and guess what? I got the flyer price of 78.99 for it.

No 17 makes little sense. With metric having 10-19mm makes for a good set, skipping 17 and 19 makes little sense. 16 is not used as much.

I don't think i've ever really used 15 or 16.

I can take apart my entire car with 8, 10, 12, 14, 17, and 19. I think the only other thing i'd need would be something big for the axle nuts. 32mm i think.

Picked up Craftsman thin profiles, the last set of USA made in the store. Even the individuals were all Taiwan made. The chrome looks a little tarnished, I wiped them down but they still look a little blah. I plan to put them to use so I'm not too worried about it.

I also picked up the fence pliers I needed from Menards. They honored my HF 20% off coupon, but said next time they would only do a 10% match. They were about $22 with tax, and I have a $19.24 store credit so I only had to pay $2 and change. I wish I could have found some on clearance at HD but I couldn't find any in my local store.

Must have a better camera than me. When I took a picture that tool did not look that purdy, or I might have kept it! lol Enjoy it, and if I ever find the others you are missing, I will let ya know.

Largely fruitless day.

Went to Napa trying to find some deals on the 50% off they were advertising on Napa branded hand tools. Turns out it was only sets, and they only had the set i had already gotten from Cripe for cheaper.

Then went to Sears Outlet trying to find some plier racks. No love. Grabbed a screwdriver organizer.

Anyone know if this thing fits Craftsman pro screwdrivers as well? Messed around with a couple of those while i was there, the 6 packs are on sale for $30, and i was suitably impressed with how nice they felt. Unsure if i want to buy, but i might have to with the reviews they've been getting.

Can't answer your question directly but I can say that it doesn't fit my new Wiha set of ACO screwdrivers at all.

Bummer. If nothing else, i think i do happen to have exactly 13 CM resin handles. Maybe i can stuff them in this thing and then sell the whole shebang if i can't find a better use for it.

Whats the part number for that handle?

SDD5R1G is the one I used. $20 from the Snappy guy. It's a screwdriver handle.

I had to take 3/8" off the bottom of the ratchet and drill the handle accordingly.
If you don't want to cut the ratchet you can get a bigger handle but to me it would be to big. Cutting it such a small amount off the bottom is not a big deal.

I HATE the soft grips. Going to do my breaker bar next!
This is my favorite ratchet now!

Got a great deal for the Wright 950 wrench set from Amazon. It's not the new Wright Grip, but well, for the price it's a great bargain.

Also picked up a few socket sets. trying to clear out my mixed junk and replace it with Armstrong slowly but surely, so if anyone wants some Williams kobalt or new Kobalt tools, let me know.
