Got tired of the crappy cheap small sets from the big box stores. So when the MAC truck stopped by today I broke down and picked this up. 52 piece quick connect set. Made in China but still lifetime warranty, at least now I won't have to buy a whole new set if one of them fails.

The former SK torque wrench (inch pound) I ordered ( thanks to a post on the Hot Deal forum) arrived.

Picked up a few things at pawn shops last weekend...

3/8" drive cornwell torque wrench in in/lbs. $30
pahegese.jpg

3/4" drive CDI torque wrench goes up to 600 ft/lbs. Last cal'd in 2010. $60
va2aqenu.jpg

Old Hinsdale socket set. Circle H logo. About half 6pt and half 4pt. Lots of duplicates. $21.

Got a handful of Proto sockets, and a 1/2" drive pearhead proto ratchet for about $10. Overall was a pretty good day. I have no use for the 4pt sockets, or the 3/4" torque wrench. Just thought they were cool to have for the price.

And came across this sign at a pawn shop.

I hope my ol' lady doesn't see this post :lol_hitti

It may be a little long. I have been going a little overboard since I got my new toolbox and got so much more room for tools I didn't have in my smaller boxes. Also my dad gave me some nice tools he hasn't used in years.

I'm not sure who made these inner tie-rod tools but they are made in the USA. My dad gave me these so i'd assume they are Blue Point, Mac, or even Snap on by the looks of his other specialty tools.

image_zpsd2553fae.jpg

My friend gave me the Blue Point impact since he got the new polymer Matco and never used this one to begin with. My dad recently gave me the other 3 tools but i'm not sure who made the 1/4 air ratchet. No markings and the decals are missing.

image_zpsbc3e69fd.jpg

Everything in here except the Awl is new to me. Dad gave me the 24" Snap on 3/8" extension and Blue Point 1/4" drive thing. Not sure of what it's called, you spin the drive end from the top. The picks, files, pry bars and other little grabber tool are new.

I got a few new ratchets, the Kobal "clearance thread" ones, a Stanley, and the Duralast one from the Hot Rod magazine article. I got a 3/8" and 1/2" 20" extensions, and a bunch of other lengths. Probably half of the other extensions are new to me. Also got the 3/8 HF torque wrench because I was there getting socket rails and it was only 9.99.

image_zpsd0ebd452.jpg

About 1/2 of these pictured are new I bet. The impacts and hex are Stanley, the swivels, torx, and 1/2" 12pt's are Craftsman, and some random Kobalts from a kit they had on sale. There's a row of swivels and adapters that are mostly new to me that's hard to see at the bottom. I can't remember where i got the other new ones. Dad gave me the knurled 3/8" "knob" (for a lack of a better term) and that's probably my favorite tool haha

image_zps64088496.jpg

My dad gave me his Mac tappet wrenches and the ignition wrenches. The line wrenches i got on ebay are New Britain and USA made Husky. The Gear Wrenches are new too.

image_zpse0bd6d80.jpg

Again, more new Gear wrenches.

image_zps72af5a9e.jpg

The craftsman, except the last one are new.

image_zps826e9040.jpg

The craftsman and kobalt stubbies are new. I feel weird only having the metric stubbies so i feel like ill have the standards soon enough.

image_zps81d78da2.jpg

My dad also gave me a snap-on puller. What a nice guy haha.

Went to Tigard and this was the only Knipex tool they had left. Almost didn't see it because it was kind of hidden next to the wall of replacement tools. Paid $19.98.

I dont understand why SK is not still making roto ratchets.
I'm sure during their restructuring and trimming back of product lines they decided to keep what sells and / is profitable. The 3870 had to have been in the midst of a number of competitors undercutting them on price and cutting the sales volume to where it didn't make sense. I think I've had my Great Neck 1/4" roto for 10 years and numerous others make them.

Long-term, I hope they can stick to their ideals (no pun intended) and get people to buy the U.S. tools they make.

Dropped my tools off for college. Many other students bought stuff from Snap On and had it shipped there. So none are mine. At least 100 boxes between Snap On and Mac.

awesome, this means that a bunch of these boxes will be on craigslist within the next 6 months - a year.

Been on the look out for a good deal on one of these ratchets. I never did have many 1/4" extensions either. I just solved two problems for the price of one.

Damn, what college? a local college? I go to college too but no one buys boxes, and only a handful of us buy tools from Snap On. I wonder how they're paying for it before the semester even starts (if after I would think financial aid?)

Picked up the Snap-on impact gun and Matco right angle drill off kijiji. Paid a 180 for both. Only about 3 months old.

The other is the gearwrench socket set from sears and snap-on pliers from ebay.

Alfred State College. Not local for me. And during orientation Snap On and Mac had displays of their boxes and starter sets that were needed for the course. I would say 80% of the students purchased a box and tools and had it shipped there. No financial aid was available as you mentioned being the semester had not begun yet.

Nice. I went to Alfred State for Electrical Construction/Maintenance. A lot of my friends went for Auto tech. The ones who still do mechanics did the Diesel Tech portion and seem to work locally and make a decent living. Be careful eating the food at Wellsville's campus :eyecrazy:

Kappa U used to have the best parties FYI.
