I'm not a professional mechanic so pardon my question, but what is that brass hammer used for? I've never seen a hammer with a head like that one.

probably for getting a stronger hit on a smaller area you want to use brass on. but in cases like that i usually end up using brass stock of different sizes as punches and smack them with a hammer. some stuff you cant do two handed though.

Holy giant picture Batman! I have a big widescreen monitor and it still didn't fit. Might I recommend resizing. To quote somebody else...that's obnoxious.

Thanks to a thread in the Hot Deals section, I found these gems on eBay being sold by Cripes Distributing. They're the early Kobalt line that was made by Williams Tools.

I'm not a mechanic by trade so my tools don't get much hard use, but I still prefer to buy US made tools whenever possible. However, I saw these straight ratcheting Gearwrench wrenches at Sears for $50 (regularly $100). Ten SAE and ten metric. I hesitated for a few days, but finally caved in and bought a set yesterday. Even though they are Chinese origin, I figured that for $2.50 per wrench it was worth a shot.

They certainly "look" nice, but only use will tell. One feature missing from these non-reversing wrenches is the serrated edge that Gearwrench used to use to make it easy to determine direction of rotation by touch. An older set of Grearwrench flex-heads that I have has the serrations (bottom wrench in following photo) on one edge and it is quite a handy feature.

Here's my purchase of the weekend. Been looking for a decent multimeter, and this was on sale for $150 instead of $200. Seams like a well constructed unit. The rubber bumper around feels tight, and the meter it's self has a solid feel to it. Hoping to get out in the garage tomorrow and play with it on car. Do a few amperage draws and voltage drops, see how accurate it is. Any one else have experience with this meter? I know it's pretty new. If it doesn't turn out, I know I can get a nice simple fluke for around $150... Time will tell!

Time to go look up some Pomona accessories on the recommendation of another thread!

Just curious. Why didn't you get a fluke to start with?

One of the facilities guys at work has that meter and I have played with it and liked it. While it does milliamps, it does not go down to microamps and will limit what can be done at the electronic level of use but for 99% of what most people need a meter to do, it is fine.

Nice--I got the 3/8" version and absolutely love it. Used it all weekend + Monday. First day the battery ran down pretty quick. After charging it it lasted the next two days no problem. It was the first time I had used it, so maybe it just needed to be ran down before it would charge properly? No clue, but it's worth every penny, that's for sure

Very nice^^
Indeed! I almost got the 1/4" drive but decided to test out the 3/8 first. So far so good..

Going into the third week of owning the 3/8, at first I wasn't too sure about it, but I love the thing. It has been used every day, still on the first battery charge, showing 2 bars left.

Nooooo that's too nice!! As soon as I got a snap on 8pc set...I set aside my older craftsman flats as designated mini pry bars

I thought I was the only one that has a set of cman clear handles for prying next to my SO instincts.

Beaumont KMG 2x72 belt grinder. It's in the shop. Too cold and wet to take a picture.

Very nice, cream of the crop right there, I'm sure you will enjoy it. What motor setup are you going with?

4, 3, 2 step pulleys with a 1.5 HP motor. Hopefully, I'll upgrade to a VFD setup somewhere down the road.

The white on black display. That's it. I really like the contrast, it's easier to read. I use a meter a fair amount under ambulances, doing draws, and I figured it would be easier to see. I normally research the heck out of everything I am looking at, and usually try to go as high end in terms of brand names as I can, but this time I just went with what looked good. And I know that I can return/keep as a home meter so I won't really lose.
