Nothing big today.
Craftsman thread restore kit, think it was $37 shipped with points.

Sears doesn't put the decal on for you but sends instructions on how to apply it. You could probably make money buying these from Sears then applying SnapOn, Matco, Mac, or Cornwell decals and sell them on E-bay, they are all the exact same kit.

Next was a couple Blackhawk long reach needle nose. A kind member here posted a link to these for $30 shipped for the pair.

If anyone else buys these don't pay for upgraded shipping, I chose standard free shipping and the seller "upgraded" them to 2 day priority for free. The were shipped in a padded tyvek priority mail envelope and my guess is the seller has a stck of these and probably ships all of his sales this way.

I've had that set for several years and it's great.

I have this kit myself and works great, except I filed off some of the magnets so the laser part of the tool and the "receiver" so it could sit on the pulley better

Is the laser on yours fixed or does it have the little adjustment screws? Or set screw may be a better name for them. Mine was setup off 90* so now I need a way to calibrate it

Forgot I ordered it. Came in today. No longer on intergalactic backorder.

Can you give some example of when you would use this? Obviously for activating the fuel injectors for testing but would problems would lead you to use this? Do you take the injector off the car to test them or hook this up to them while still in the car? What would you be looking for when activating the injectors? Can a good scan tool pulse the injectors on the car?

Last year I played around with cleaning my own injectors on an engine I had that was sitting around forever. I just used a 12V power supply to fire the injectors while cleaning them. I used my mityvac hand pump to pump some cleaner through them while cycling the injector. Made a holder to put them in the ultrasonic cleaner. Then got new pintles and orings for them. It was my cheap mans way of cleaning them. Figured it was better then nothing since I didn't really want to pay to send them out. I thought it worked pretty good. Think I even posted about it on here but didn't get a lot of responses. I was looking into getting an injector pulsar like that to fire them while cleaning but just stuck with pulsing them by using a power supply and just quickly touching the wires together.

Used mostly for lean codes or lean misfires when a clogged or weak injector is suspected. You prime the fuel system, then activate the injectors 1 at a time and monitor the pressure drop of each injector. Same as the injector balance test in GM's using a scan tool. I've tried doing it with the powerprobe and in cases where there is only a slight variance, its inconclusive (PP4 does have this feature built in). I've also tried it with a pressure transducer and labscope, but different fuel systems don't always allow that to work either.

I see. So the bad injector or injectors won't drop as much fuel pressure when you pulse them? You re prime before checking each injector right?

The PPIV has an injector pulsar built in? I saw it has an injector tester scope feature. Have you used a PPIV yet? Or the hook? I started this thread the other day about the two of them, http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=278688. Would love to hear your opinion/knowledge on them. I'm thinking about getting one or the other but not really sure which one would would work best for me.

Correct, priming the system, then fire the injectors, a bad injector wouldn't drop as much pressure. I only have a PP3, I have not used the PP4 yet, as soon as the price comes down a bit or I find a good deal on ebay, I'll jump on one. The reviews I hear on the hook all indicate that it is a little too bulky.

I picked up the cream of the crop harbor freight gem. 25" breaker bar. I took the head apart and cleaned the threads with carb cleaner and then put loctite on the threads and tightened her up

The hinge doesn't loosen up, the weakest point of this breaker bar is the square drive. I sheared off 4 of them in 6 months, I think their limit is around 800ish ft-lb before the drive end starts to twist.

Had some points expiring so got myself these. Really could have used the last week last two projects, so of course I will probably never need them again.

Just to make sure I understand 100% you hook the OTC up to one injector and then prime and fire the injector and watch fuel pressure. Then move the OTC to next injector and re prime and fire. And continue for all injectors.

Could you use it to find a rich condition from a leaky or partially stuck open injector?

I've heard that about the hook also. Was just reading about how it kind of is an ohm meter and reads amps also. Trying to decide if the hook or the PPIV would be better to go along with my PP3 and fluke. I like how the PP4 has a kind of scope for testing injector pulse and also has .5-5V reference voltage for testing sensors and stuff.

Yellow destruction fun. COO is Mexico, not China. It's my first Dewalt tool in several years, This feels to be well built, but didn't come with any blades. Minor detail.

Correct, one at a time, prime and fire. A leaky or stuck open injector will be found simply by hooking up the fuel pressure gauge, seeing it drop, blocking off the feed and return lines and still having a drop. It can be used in the same fashion for an injector flowing too much.

i'm slowly going to end up with the whole set

I think the sale ends this month (not sure but they will go again they always do)
I went in 3 times and used 3 different 20% coupons and he finally said only 1 per day so I drove 15 minutes away to another store. I think we have 9 or 10 stores here in Chicagoland.

Still want to get the side shelf for $20. minus 20%.

Well if it takes 800 foot lbs I'm ok with that. Once that happens then I'll get the snap on 36" bar....but that's when that happens lol

I just like taking stuff like that apart when it's new and cleaning the threads/loctite so I don't have any issues in that department

I had an appointment today at my not so local VA hospital, and had some time to kill. I dropped by a pawn shop that usually has some interesting stuff. I couldn't find any vices or anything like that, but I did find this Speedway 6" bench grinder. All I can tell so far is that it is made in the USA, and it was pretty cheap. No plastic on this one, it is all aluminum housing, and the bushings are tight. This weekend, I will take it apart and see what makes her tick.

It seems to work just fine so far. I am going to to replace the power cord as I don't think it is grounded very well.

I keep telling people they need to keep this in their car for the 2nd attempt to use a 20% coupon.
