Those look nifty. I may have to stop by Home Depot on the way home.

Been waiting on this set of thread files for a while, takes the Snap On **** forever to get stuff in - Said he has to "get his account in order" before he can order more stuff. How long does it normally take you guys to get something from Snap On if they don't have it on their truck?

Grabbed the 40oz hammer while I was on the truck because impulse buy. I needed a bigger hammer and I've never had a dead blow hammer.....we'll see if it can't get the drums off of my old car tomorrow!

Thanks for posting those Mastercraft inspection lights! I may have to go get some tomorrow.

If I want something that isn't in stock on my SO truck, I tell my dealer what I want and I have it in my hand the following week. Unless it's something weird, or on national back-order..... like I said, normal items are one week. Fortunately my SO dealer keeps very good inventory on the truck so usually this isnt a problem. If your dealer needs to get his account "in order" that sounds like he is having trouble maintaing "good standing" with SO corporate? Translation: he needs to pay his bill before he can order more stuff.

Yep. He isn't paying his tool bill for whatever reason and he is on hold.

Our guy takes forever. I still have yet to recieve my new pliers from like 4 weeks ago. Had to wait for a pick for like 3 weeks. Seems like some guys are not organized. Plus sometimes he won't show up or at different times. Our matco guys comes at exactly 9am every Friday. Never had a problem

Wouldn't it be a lot faster to simply order the tools from the Snap-On website if you have a bad driver like that?

I'd expect better service than what you described if I was paying Snap-On prices for tools.

My SO dealer is awesome. Same time every week. Orders come in one week, etc, etc. Our MAC dealer, not so much. Lol.

When I tell my SO dealer to order me something, its entered into their computer while I'm still standing there.... then my dealer looks at me and says, "ok, its ordered. You should have it next week". Easy.

that is probably the biggest flaw of the tool truck business model... the experience relies 100% on the dealer that comes to your shop... i actually know a guy who refuses to buy from the snap-on guy that comes to his shop but buys from the one that visits a shop near his house

Snap-On will pretty much tell you to get fucked if you are in a franchisee's territory, whether or not you are actually getting serviced by that dealer. I can tell you that from personal experience. Me? I'm at every stop, every week within an hour of my normal time unless something unusual happens.

Who knows?
That doesn't make sense to me at all.

I'm just a diy'er. I've never had any problems ordering trough Snap On's site. I've got 3 trucks in my area too.

That sure seems like excellent customer service...

It has certainly been my experience being a mechanic in an area with a franchisee that was content with running himself into the ground. Once he finally went out of business they would bend over backwards for me though.

That's not true. I live in a large metro area with several SO dealers surrounding me. There have been times in the past that I did not have a normal dealer stopping at my previous job. I had NO PROBLEM buying tools from the SO website. SO gladly took my money in exchange for tools. Lol. The only thing the website doesnt offer is sales, special priced items, bogo deals, etc. You pretty much will pay full price for everything on the website. Oh, and you pay "in full" too, no truck credit with internet sales.

This isn't true. You go to the website, place the order and the tools show up a few days later.

That doesn't seem true to me. I just ordered a ratchet a little over a week ago. Just clicked a couple little check boxes that said I don't have a franchisee or whatever the wording is and placed the order. It was true in my case since I use my tools at home but it wouldn't bother me to check that box if I had a bad dealer.

Don't tell anybody but sometimes I check a little box that says I read 15 pages of **** written by an attorney when I really didn't read it. I'm a bad, bad man.

This. When I want something that isn't on the truck, my rep asks "Want me to bring it next week or want it at your house the day after tomorrow?" I usually ask to have it shipped...because if I'm buying a tool...chances are I have a near future use for it.

As far as Snap On drivers go, if you have no truck balance and you pay for the item then I would expect it to be there the next week. If you owe the driver money and you are asking them to order more tools, then you may have to wait, what do you expect for $20 a week?

Truck balance or not it shouldn't matter.

Depending on said balance and cost of item, obviously.

Depends if your driver is paying down his account with the money you give him, or if he's stopping by the ********** on the way home.

I've seen them ! They cover the sign with a magnetic one and let the customers behind those curtains to shop when they're there !

I meant as far as warranty was concerned, buying stuff was no issue. And once again, that was just my personal experience.

Saw these at Princess Auto and couldn't resist. They are on sale for 50 bucks and are discontinued from this point on. Vessel made in Japan screwdrivers. The silver ones are impact drivers and are spring loaded/camming. You hit them with a hammer and they turn the crack the screw loose for you. Time will tell how I like these. They had other Vessel sets but to me this was the only interesting item.
