Since the metric set started at 10mm, I had ordered the 6,7,8, and 9, still waiting on 7mm... Lol...

Whenever I replace my old tools, I give them away to friends and family!! One of my cousins got my mastercraft/gearwrench ratcheting combo sets, he was pretty pumped since they came with a tool box too!!

Buy some spare directional levers for your most used sizes. Things break all the time.

I own all of the Flank drive plus ratcheting spanners. I never use 9mm, 6mm, 7mm. but I use my 1/4 and 5/16 so much with some Snap-on bits I recently acquired.

when I was a professional technician, I had used 1/4 and 1/2 inch mainly, with 3/8 being least used. I did have a 1/2 inch Elora flex head ratchet, and used it all the time. Others included Hazet Composite 1/2 inch, Hazet 1/4 pear head and Snap-on 1/4 round head that pivots to a screwdriver.

Now I leisurely work on my own car, and no longer on the floor professionally, I am exploring more 3/8 options, and the flex head once again rules the roost. Not the notched flexheads, I hate those.

The Williams reminded me why I hated my Snap-On F936 3/8 ratchet and probably why I didn't use 3/8 as much. I can't decide between the F80 and the Koken...they're both really good.

The Koken feels like it is mounted on roller bearings and exhibits no resistance whatsoever to the ratcheting mechanism, I really wished I knew about this ratchet when I was on the tools, the ratcheting sound is exceptionally reassuring.

The Snap-On, wow...I would have a much higher respect for Snap-On if this was around back in my day, and not the awful 936 ratchets - worst 3/8 ratchet I have ever used, and the Williams flexhead is no different and reminds me why I felt that way.

I feel like an apprentice all over again since finding out about garage journal and rebuilding my professional tool collection with modern stuff. :bounce:

Thanks Jarhead. Yes the Dual-80 is leaps and bounds over the old 936. I just bought all the Williams Flex heads. I also just bought the 1/4 flex, 24 inch 1/2 flex and 3/8 regular dual 80s. The difference is massive.

I know what you mean Rossco, fine tooth is new to me and they sound like zip ties when working. The 936s have reassuring clicks...the older 20 teeth Snap-Ons were better I felt.

But them Kokens have it locked down with the reassuring clicks and zero resistance. When you're twisted at funny angles and going by feel, being able to unwind that bolt to the least resistance possible is a must, not because you're weak, but because in those twisted and contorted body positions one can generate zero torque with ones fingertips.

I have the Craftsman gasket scraper set as well, picked up the 5 piece only available online. Works really well, you'll like it.

Got the voltage tester and flashlight for free, the tekton set for 13 buck and the funnel for free at Ace.
