I should be alright. Nothing leads me to believe these were abused or off so much that I need to spend the kind of money they want to "check" them.

I checked them against my barely used harbor freight ones and they matched up good with 2 different settings set to each of them. Not saying that it was a super safe bet against the hf ones but they were both about spot on so I trust them.

This is just an FYI comment for other people readin this thread...If buying 30 year old units at discount make sure to budget in a calibration. The selling point is that they can be re-calibrated, not that they don't need it.

You need to calibrate clickers because of the design, not abuse. the grease and moving parts dry out and have wear, which changes the friction etc in side the wrench. using a HF unit to calibrate is also not really sound practice. however, using a low-tech split-beam or something that does not go out of calibration by design might be a better way to sanity check.

Good luck with your purchase tho I'm sure they will do well for you.

Gerber EAB Lite Pocket Knife [31-000345]

The fit and finish are very nice for an $8 knife that's made in China.

I like that the blade is held with a screw so there's no blade wiggle.

I like the blade retention, however do you need a tool/driver to replace the blade or does it have a little removable piece that you can use?

be a piss off to break one end, or it becomes dull and you have to find a small flat head just to swap ends.

And after dealing with a multitude of **** *** quick change devices of various levels ****-o-ness I'd happily reach for a screwdriver to change the blade. :spit:

I've been carrying the eab knifes for years. The standard is a little smaller, I clip to my pocket. A dime or penny works perfect to change the blade around. I run the Irwin blades myself. Best ones I've ever ran were the Lennox with the titanium edge.

Hyde utility knife. Need to hit it with some sandpaper as the finish makes it too slippery. End cap is plastic and screws off to allow for a scissor like opening.

Not really an "arrival" but finally got around to building my HF trailer-in-a-box. Got it 2 years ago from my buddy (who was a manager at HF), for $150. Built it today, and slapped some pressure treated 3/4" ply wood on it with carriage bolts. I have to say, it is actually REALLY well made and worth the money! Hardware that came with it was good quality, and it is very sturdy and well designed, especially for being the fold up one.

Firworks, that is a **** vise! I could see painting it turquoise with white trim, like a 57 chevy.

Somebody else just posted a painted vise in the Vises of GJ thread that was two tone. Looked pretty sharp. I think I need to disassemble it and check "under the hood" before I start picking out paint colors though!

Nice trailer Kunk! I have larger trailers, but having something I can unfold and pull out of the garage to hook up when my wife wants to to yard sale shopping is very appealing.

No need to bother with a heavier trailer as I can pull this one to the vehicle, slap some sides on and go! I think you're going to use it waaaaay more than thought you would.

x2... the eab is a EDC for me. Dimes work the best, but honestly if im doing allot of work I use a fixed blade knife. This is a substitute for a pocket knife IMHO. I don't like pocket knives because I like to just beat the blade up and toss it. Very nice product at a great price point.

I don't know what blade they use from the factory but it is robust. Wish they sold them as replacements.

Cool little pocket knife. Thinking about getting one. Also, here is the new release of the same knife as OP.

Stopped on the Mac truck today and these were on sale:

Very bright, slim body, and a long cord. Seems nice for when my cordless runs out of battery or I need a slim light to fit somewhere.

My Mac guy was cleaning out his garage and found an old genisys scanner. Has 03 domestic and 00 import as well as some cables and manuals. He gave it to me as a little gift, said I was doing him a favor getting it out of his garage....lol.

Thanks! I have a feeling I will like it too, already have it folded up and it has a nice corner in the garage. Gotta get it registered next week on my day off.

I have had that meter for a few years now. It's an awesome meter for the money. Does everything I need and more. I like the large display. Makes it easier to see when doing vehicle work
