I've been tempted to try from him again just solely due to the diversity of products he offers. I had a very lengthy and unpleasant first buying experience with him but it was during his move back to the States and I'm considering trying once again by chalking up the first go-round to his move. Did he communicate with you at any point or did these just simply show up a week and some later? Thanks for any response.

I've made quite a few purchases with Frank. I'd say roughly a dozen separate transactions at the least. He has always replied to emails within a day, most within a few hours. Product availability on the other hand can be spotty and if the yahoo check-out is still listing product availability status you basically have to ignore it as it was often wrong. The issue is he's essentially a 1 man operation and its not feasible for him to place a rush order for you for, say, $150 in wrenches, so most times you're at the mercy of the dates he places his stock orders. Assuming its not something he stocks generally the safe brands are the big ones like KTC, Kuken and the like. You'll generally have it within a week or two. If you're after some of the other brands he offers and special orders and you want it right away, well you'd be best off sticking with domestic e-tailers like tooltopia and amazon.

The only downside to Frank is his initiative is lacking (which I find hard to fault him on considering what he does on his own) so if you order something and you assume it will be a week but it will really take 3 weeks, you generally wont get an email saying "hey, this is going to be a few weeks", 3 weeks later you'll get tracking and then a package will show up. Basically you have to prod if you want an accurate shipping estimate. On the other hand if you order and have patience and can just wait, you'll always get your stuff.

Would you mind posting a picture of one of the wrenches from the side? I've got a set of genius brand wrenches and my only complaint is that they have hard un-rounded edges so they're not very comfortable to use. Below is a pic of what I've got for reference.

I was just getting ready to ask the same thing. Those Carlyle's look real square.

That hand-hydraulic crimper looks freaking awesome. China is fine for something you only use occasionally. Can you please tell us where you got and what it cost?

Went to HF for the Daytona Jack, walked out with most of this... [emoji33]

Daytona 3 1/2 ton floor jack
HF 1/2 breaker bar
HF wobble extensions
HF folding razor box cutter
Work Gloves
Magnetic pickup tool
Shop rags

My Advance Auto Haul...
Large magnet tool
Lazer etched screwdriver set
Lineman pliers
Large inspection mirror

And... A pack of Kool 100's, 20 oz redbull as motivation to get my pile of PM work done. [emoji482]

Edit, now I know why the Daytona floor jack gets rave reviews. Solid construction, grease zerks on the wheels, and its HEAVY AS F! Gotta be 120 lbs. The handle its self will make one heck of a cheater bar/zombie beater. [emoji102]

I picked up a Pittsburgh Pro 1/2" ratchet at HF this AM. Not worth a picture, but it functions well. $11 or so with the 20% coupon. Interesting- I tried several samples, and one was noticeably rougher, so I picked the smoothest one of the bunch. It's replacing my Craftsman USA 1/2" ratchet, which is very rough and crude by comparison. I should have brought it back when I bought it- it feels like it has rocks in it, and has never smoothed out.

YQK-300 Quick Hydraulic Pliers Wire Cable Lug Terminal Crimper Tool 16-300mm2 on ebay. I paid $35 but for some reason they are around $45 to $60ish right now. There is a smaller version as well.

Very nice! I love mine, and probably wont ever use a click type again.

Do you use it for torquing wheels (on a professional scale)? I definitely would like to get a tech angle for cylinder heads and torque to angle applications... the added electronics make me question the longevity of the tool if I used it constantly torquing wheels
(Or do they flat rate repair them like the air tools?) The tq split beam is probably a better option for wheels I would think.

That is a good price because I bought the same box with one less drawer for $49.

Those drive heads have a swivel, at least the 1/4 it looks like. Doesn't the torque change if the head is at an angel? Is it possible this wrench compensates? I can't see it doing that but I'm not the Worlds" smartest person.

Yes, the heads have a limited swivel. However, I am pretty sure the torque is measured at the swivel point and calculated at the center of the drive.

I agree that the split beam is a better choice for high volume tire shop work. However I used my 1/2 tech angle in a tire shop for over a year with no problems. Now, with all that being said, IMO the OTC fixed value torque wrench sets are the things to have for high production tire shops. Before I left my last job I put a set of these in every bay.

I do use the 1/2" for wheels, yes. But I don't do anything in a professional setting anymore. It does get used on 6 vehicles regularly. There are many thousands of techs using these professionally for years now, and if there was an issue, I'm fairly certain we'd have heard about it here by now.

Honestly, I don't worry about it. It'll never cost me more than $65 (Snap On flat rate to calibrate/repair) to fix it if something DOES go wrong with it, and the quality and accuracy makes it worthwhile to me. I've paid more than $65 for a crappy meal!:lol_hitti

The head only swivels 15*. Its not enough to significantly affect the torque applied if the tool is held properly. Beyond that, it probably does, which is likely why they limited travel to 15*.

You can easily program the wrench to use offsets, however. As you would with crowfoot or flare type wrenches.

Interesting, that's the first I've seen these. With them being preset, are they a split beam design? They have long lasting accuracy? And it looks like the heads are serviceable!? I might be sold...

I don't know if they are split beam, but I would think that would be the cheapest way to go. I know I checked them all against my torque angle and they were right on. The individual ratchets are color coded so we started color matching our work orders so my tire guys knew which one to use. Worked well.

I tested this with split beams a few years ago, and yes, the angle does affect the accuracy. It was, however, only like 1-3% difference because of the such slight angle they tilt at. You'll have more inaccuracy induced by using poor practices for torquing (jerking it till it clicks/beeps, not turning at least a 1/4 turn before hearing the click/beep, etc).
