Hello Guys,
Here are my purchases from the last 2 weeks:
SK Holiday Sale
I purchased 7 of the SK metric X-Frame ratcheting wrenches (Made in U.S.A.) with the 40% discount for about $20.92 a piece. That's a much better price per piece (mid to high 30's) than on SK's website, Amazon, or eBay. Upon arrival, I noticed that a few ratcheted slightly stiff and the rest ratcheted just right. In addition, 2 of the ratchets didn't ratchet smoothly between 2 consecutive gears. I soaked all 7 ratcheting heads in Mobil 1 0W-30 synthetic oil in a large measuring cup for 2 days. Now, all 7 box heads ratchet like butter.

I really want a set of those! I have them in my "list" on Amazon. Hopefully my wife will take the hint.

list. Since I can never come up with anything, I decided to search through here to find some unique tool ideas. I have looked at pages after pages. Well, first thing that I got this year, a power probe micro torch. Have wanted one of these for quite awhile.

Trying out my Chinese laser key cutting machine on a Chevy Cruze flip key. Places around here want at least $25 to cut a key so another 7 keys and I break even.
Got the Braun folding light from Harbor Freight for 19.99 we will see how it hols up. so far used for 2 hrs works great. we will see how it lasts.

Unruh,
I hope your wife does buy you a set! They're very nice!!
If you do a search on Garage Journal, the cheapest online retailer to buy the SK X-Frame set is tooldiscounter.com and not Amazon. I think the metric X-Frame set used to run about $230 from tooldiscounter.com. I don't remember the piece count in the set.
During the SK Holiday Sale, SK featured a 12 pc metric X-Frame set in the $300 range. However, SK prevented the use of the 40% coupon. It doesn't make sense when you can buy that piece count set for less at other internet retailers.

I recommend replacing that ratchet before you try to turn anything that takes much pull. It will skip a tooth in a heartbeat.

Just picked this Klein D203-8 up at a local pawn shop for $12, new in package. I've been impressed with the smaller version.
I go over 3 decades of commercial/ industrial electrical under my belt and those are without a doubt the best needle nose made. You're going to luv them and they will no doubt last you the rest of your life.
Unruh,
Congrats on your SK X-Frame set!
Do all 7 of your wrenches ratchet smoothly?
Did your wife purchase the set from Amazon?
If yes, do you mind sharing how much she paid for the standard set?
What jobs do you have in mind for the standard set?
Thanks,
Dave
