Picked up a new to me Rong Fu RF-31 Mill drill this past weekend. Super pumped to start learning. Came with a set of parallels, end mills, a vise, some aluminum stock, a fairly hoaky DRO, a super stout wooden base with casters and the clamping set that everyone with a mill has.

The new Wiha Picofinish 4mm bit handle does fit in their super handy little tin can set. It closes.

KS Tools locking flex bit ratchet (basically the Facom/USAG one with a different handle and lower cost):

How are the handles for Wiha micro bits? Keep meaning to try one but they are more expensive here than in the the US.

...and any idea what 'Joggle' ratchet means?

Nice setup threadkiller. Prepare to spend $$$$ on tooling :)

Ha, i know....At least it came with some brand new 2 and 4 flute end mills. That should hold me over for a short while. Oh it also came with a set of R8 collets

Threadkiller, Nice 500 pound mill there. I'm jealous.

Ha thank you. Believe it or not its actually 600lbs. I did'nt believe it until I saw it in person. Its gigantic.

Basic acquisition list if you intend to start using it:
-dial indicator with mag base. You’ll need this to indicate the vise along with a ton of other uses. Very important as you have a round ram, every time you move the head you’ll need to verify.
-edge finder- self explanatory.

Every other tool need will show itself depending on the task. Have fun! My brother has made some incredible parts on a Rong Fu.

I'd say only OK. I think my favorite 4mm bit handles are Felo and Engineer. Würth has a nice one, too. Picofinish one is all plastic on the business end and magnetic holding. Standard Wiha has a circumferential spring clip. The better, older Wiha one (pictured under the bit box) had a metal collet and variable depth, like Felo and Engineer.

Wera's Kraftform Micro handle with a metal 4mm bit driver end (and sold as open stock) would be better.

Yes. It means "machine translation ***** and you should never rely upon it!" :wtf:

However, 1/4" Bit-Gelenk-Umschalt-Knarren-Satz mit Steckadapter für Stecknüsse, 3-tlg. is perfectly clear. ;)

(hinged reversible bit ratchet set with square adapter for sockets, 3pc)

Thank you! I intend to have a lot of fun, I cant wait to learn all I can. And thank you for the list! I actually have a dial indicator with a mag base and a test indicator already. Got those when I got my South Bend lathe. It seems like a super stout machine especially for a home shop.

Nice find and purchase. If you want help with it there is a Rong Fu group on the Hobby machinist forum. Many owners there and super to learn from the many professional machinist and hobbyists. Truly a friendly forum.

Probably a mess. Repairs get real expensive real quick.

Actually it's in pretty good shape. Runs good, hydraulics are strong. Axle bearings are tight. Drive chain slop is acceptable. Brand new bobtach and pins. No electrical problems. Pretty much all it needs is one tube line with a pin hole leak, steering repaired since it creeps and the rear door is a bit funked like they always are.

A no brainer at $500!

A skid steer with that many hours is usually a hopelessly bottomless money pit or a parts machine. [emoji2]

The hours don't scare me, I have seen similar machines go over 30,000 hours. Where I feel confident in this machine is I was the main mechanic for it for years and know it inside out. Also I'm not going to put a ton of hours on it. I have been needing something around here to pick up and move stuff. I might have a bucket on it twice a year. I'll be impressed if I put 10 hours a year on it and at that point I see it lasting for years.
