I hear ya. I'm mainly using these for the crimpers, cutter, & pliers. The stripper is pretty sharp but I've been using Klein & GB for strippers that have the strippers above the pivot. I hate crimpers that are below the pivot. I had no idea how small these Carlyle/SO were which I like. One of em is for my hand toolbox that I keep wiring stuff in so I like that they're small.

Agree with everything you said. Except I only have one. The adjustable pivot screw is nice too to dial in just how loose/tight you want them. I find those handy for finesse tools like this. Obviously no need for something like that on some dykes.

Capri 17mm Hex Bit for the transaxle on my beetle. And a 3/8 ratchet standard length. Very nice tools for directly from the Capri Tools website from the Christmas special. They were both used today and I’m very happy with them.
I believe the ratchet is a 72 tooth it is very fine teeth in it.

Actually, the Capri low profile ratchet pictured only has 72 teeth. I think what might make it feel so smooth, is that it doesn't use the floating pawl design. It's old school with the bat shaped single pawl gear. Not only is it smooth (with thin oil lube), it also doesn't tend to auto reverse under load.

I've been quite happy with the Capri tool items I've acquired.

Wow, lots of cool stuff! Just upgraded to a 20 ton hydraulic press, sunex hd 5720ah and made in usa with a Chinese bottle Jack. It’s a big step up from the 12 ton grizzly, now to make a mobile base.

Any pics of the 18A and 18C together? I have the 18C and that is one heck of a punch!

Here you go.
And yeah, that 18C is a pretty stout punch. The 18A lends itself better to softer material or more of a fine point punch.

Few things from SK. Wanted the bottle opener, desided to get a few extensions while I was at it...

6" and 8" 1/4 drive, and 6" 3/8 drive extensions

Bottle opener socket is 3/8 drive with through hole. I think the top is cut to 1/2" but cut too shallow to use as an actual socket. Works well, would probably be a bit easier to use with a short extension on the end, to act as a handle

Here is most of my acquisitions from the past year, and getting the pipe wrenches organized.

The very first picture was a stubby flex head 1/4" drive off the mac tools truck. I was extremely impressed with it because it was the only thing that would fit on the carb bolt to my push mower. Nothing else i had in the picture would fit in such a tight space. I know universals exist but im a ratchet buff. This situation made me thankful of my purchase. Not pictured off the mac tools truck were a set of line stop pliers, and a streamlight stinger, which is rechargeable.

All of the carlyle came from napa. They had a grand opening sale. Since covid 19 was a flop on all the sales at the new stores, they took all the inventory that didnt sell and sold it off for dirt cheap. Each ratchet ran 30 to 40 bucks and are normally close to 100 dollars. its hard to see but the socket rail by the screw drivers are an oil drain plug set. the screw drivers were the special kind you could put a wrench on to add leverage. You might check your local napa to see if there is such a sale, which is running up through Christmas.

I'm a water service guy by trade so I went crazy with pipe wrenches and channel locks. All of it is Rigid and channel lock brand with the exception of the one milwaukee 18" offset wrench, which was shipped from amazon because they didnt have rigid. I decided to keep it. Every pipe wrench that is not aluminum was my dads, so i held onto them. I'm working my way into knipex cobras now for channel locks. They work great. I keep the 7" cobras in my pocket every day for work. Its great for meter changes. It gets right down in those pits next to the meters. Its not pictured.

This is my most recent purchases off the tool truck in the past month with the exception of the milwaukee light and scan tool.

I must say after using the snapon hard handle ratchet, it does make a difference on what brand ratchet you use. its possibly my favorite one now.

as for the mach stuff i went ahead and pictured them as mentioned in the previous post. the RBRT extractor set saved me from purchasing a new carb for the riding lawnmower. I was doing an overhaul and stripped out the jet, but the extractor took it out. the carb was going to cost more than the extractor set to replace. so i pictured the jet after removing it. the line stop pliers came in handy doing the carb rebuilds.

i'd have to say for the DIY'er the tool trucks have a place. All you have to do is find what truck runs in your area, and they will be happy to meet you. Especially when you buy everything up front and not carry a balance. I enjoy finding things on the tool truck that you cant find in the big box stores.

If you don't mind, how much did you give for it? They're expensive around here. Thanks.

I prefer the Justrite type 2 safety cans. I think they are comparable in price to the Eagle, and you are right, they are not cheap. Justrite offers their models in 4 colors, red for gasoline, yellow for diesel, blue for kerosene, and green for oil. These are, I believe, industry standard colors and help first responders to a fire identify the contents of each can. I used to keep all four, but no longer, as I only keep diesel in a yellow 5 gallon can on hand for the tractor.

Justrite Type 2 five gallon safety can, in red, at Amazon.

Nice! I've been itching to get me one of those. But I wanted 2 of them so I couldn't justify the cost. I ended up getting the Carlyle ones. Picked up the first one over the weekend & the second one today.

The Carlyle ones don't have the nice cushiony grips like the Snap-On but they have an adjustable pivot. Made in Taiwan. Look better than the Neikos. $22 ea OTD with AAA discount. I'm really happy with them.

ac27634b07fe489933d0a2d275c549be.jpg

I haven't had a chance to handle the Carlyle's but based on everything I've read about them I'm planning on picking one up for my road bag the next time I drive by a Napa store. Enjoy!

I got sick of the plastic gas cans!

Same here. Last year Amazon had the 5 gal cans on sale for $21. I bought 8. Wild redhead thought I was nuts until the next hurricane.

Made in WV, just up the road from the wild redheads home. Another win.

The Wera ratcheting driver was a replacement for a kaput SO driver, which thanks to GJ members, was replaced by SO.

The Wera kit was a Secret Santa gift from a co-worker.
