I love rigid vaccums very powerful!!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It’s insane compared to this one I’ve had for a few years. The Ridgid sucked all the dust and debris from my shop floor with two 20” extensions on it, plus the wide floor tip. My shop vac branded one struggled to get dirt off my bench with just the hose.

My theory is that I’m not sure if folks that have a lot of tape measures actually like tape measures that much. Personally find it more of one of those things that is convenient to have strategically stashed around when you are looking to use one. Like cars and both ends of the garage. Makes sense for flashlights and knives especially if they aren’t an EDC item. Ratchets am not so sure as they need to lives near socket sets, but I guess it can apply with multiple sets in cars, garage and shop in true GJ spirit. If there was a tape measure addiction post maybe I’ll change my mind, but the key here I think is distinguishing between tool addiction vs convenience. A fine line I think.

Agreed on the tape measure comments, I know thats the case for me. I have them in different spots in the garage, and throughout the house.

Finally got a cordless ratchet. Earthquake XT from Harbor Freight. Used my coworkers a few times and loved it so I got my own. Got it for my Inside Track Club price which was $89.99. It was already marked down so couldn’t use the coupon on it. I used my coupon on Super Lube for my ratchets.

a few things from the past week or so:

Genius tools DI-415M 1/2 drive semi deep metric impact socket set. 10-24 no skips.

Lisle 17460 curved hose clamp pliers. these are pretty stout & heavy

Lisle 42870 45 degree clip removal pliers

Please note: the curved hose clamp pliers are made in Taiwan while the 45 degree plastic clip pliers are made in China, People's republic of. It's a crapshoot as to where Lisle tools are made these days.

A powerbuilt 649941 3/8 drive in a 1/4 body roto ratchet. Crisp 72 tooth action, pretty nice for less than $15.

a Ko-Ken 1/4 deep six point metric socket set atop a new Ko-Ken catalog with a 2020 (it's the thought that counts ) pocket planner

Yup, I used have faith in buying Lisle tools, these days not so much.

Just got me the Lisle seal puller. Doesn't say anywhere where it's made. For the price I highly doubt USA. I hope it doesn't break on first use. I need it to last at least 3 times but it will be a while before I get to try it out.

Also got me a Lisle crank bolt socket. I knew it was made in Taiwan ordering it & I'm not worried about that but it doesn't say Lisle on the socket anywhere. Then again I'm not sure if any of the other Lisle tools I have actually say Lisle on the tools themselves.

I knew these things were thick & work based off their mass but damn. Finally seeing one person for the first time it's so weird to see a socket this thick.

All 19mm impacts, from the left is a Craftsman USA, then Craftsman China, & on the right is a Matco USA thinwall lugnut socket.

Neither of the Lisle pliers I posted above have part numbers or the Lisle name stamped anywhere on them :wtf:

I expect more from Lisle.

I have several tools from Lisle. Other than some Hex and Torx sockets, I don't think they stamp/print their name or even part numbers on anything I own. And basically if they don't say USA and are not stamped/printed USA, it's not.

Not everything they make is a gem for sure. Their quality control and machining can be questionable. The underside of those sockets I mentioned earlier are terrible. The machining was never completed. On the other hand that crank bolt socket I also own is fine and definitely well made.

So yeah, roll the dice.

Festool, Makita, Dewalt people take note! Not only will it mount certain Makita, Mafell, Festool and DeWalt routers, it will also run on Makita and Festool Rails!

medium800.jpg

And, of course it runs on Bosch/Mafell rails:

large.jpg

I wish there was more commonality in the tool world. I get why there isn't but still, its nice when something like this is possible.

Now to see if I can fit a Porter Cable 6902 into it. I hope so as the 6902 went into my Bosch router table without issue...back up plan in place if not

Cheers!

I always laugh when I order something from my tool dealers and they tell me “I didn’t even know we made that!”

I thank you for showing me yet another tool I cannot possibly live without! We'll keep this quiet; Mrs. Trapps might not appreciate it.

I'll be looking hard at updating my motorcycle tool kit with this in mind!

Found this paging through the Snap-on catalog and had my guy order me one. So far it’s been pretty handy - it’s a 3/8” drive adaptor for a ratcheting wrench, part #RWA2:

It twists to lock on the wrench:

And now my 16mm ratcheting wrench is a low profile 3/8” drive ratchet:

I got rid of the wires on the thread checkers... and fabricated a box with holes that provide spots for the checkers. Over the years... I find having them "individualized" so much easier to use. I have those Lug checkers as well... I keep them all organized by size in their custom boxes... in a soft sided lunch box.

Arrived today. the "bellows portion" of the expandable part of the tray is thinner than I expected. Hope they last. They cost about $7.50 a piece... they are available in an assortment of multiples... I got 3.

The one complaint aside ... I like them. Put them to work today as I took a cabinet out of my kitchen for repair.

I would recommend grabbing a few.

While I like the idea of the thread checkers off the cable, I much prefer having them take up almost no room, mine are all hanging in one spot. I rarely have to deal with a stud that I don’t already have a nut for, so threading a bolt or nut on them is pretty straightforward even while hanging up. Also taking them with me is simple and they are all there, all the time.
