I‘m going to assume that my wife will never stumble into this forum, so I’ll tell you. $400. I hate to even see it in print, but I had been looking high and low for a Wilton Bullet for a long time and I was finding rusty boat anchors for $200+. I saw this one and was kinda drawn to it. I reached out to the seller who restores old vises and anvils as a hobby. He actually sent me before, during, and after photos so I could see what he started with, how he filled 75 years of dings, and how much effort he put into making it look beautiful. Once I gave some consideration to the amount of time and effort he put into it, the asking price seemed entirely reasonable. You can see yourself in the polished parts and everything moves like butter. I expect to have this for the rest of my life. I’m going to bolt it down tomorrow. All I need are some chrome plated 3/4” bolts.;)

That puppy is entirely worth $400. I'd run to anything like that I could find near me.

Hi RB,

That vise is spectacular. Thank you very much for sharing with us.. Nobody thinks you overpaid; we are all jealous. I know what you mean about the prices quoted to the other half. Sad, but true. I remember having read on here that If the wife sells my **** for what I told her I paid for it, that will ****. I paid $250 for my mint Tradesman 1745 10 years ago and I was/still am very happy. Your shop/bench is also beautiful. Nice piece of a mill in the background!

Leaf blower, tired of the old backpack and it wasn't running correctly. Plus I seem to be getting older.
This thing makes short work of the job, I live in the woods!

The camels let me know this Gearwrench 3/8” universal impact set dropped to $69 early this week, so I ordered a set. They weren’t supposed to be delivered until next week, but unexpectedly showed up today. New Gearwrench branding on the case and sockets (so it’s not old stock they’re clearing out), well oiled inside the blow molded case. Made in Taiwan.

I put them right to work, and I’m happy so far. It’s a nice size range, 8-22mm with no skips, sizes roll stamped into the sockets. The ball cup is the same size for all the sizes, so clearance may be an issue for the smaller sizes in tight spots. The tolerances are good, and the 19mm I used still swivels smoothly after some use. For the $69 I gave for them, this set is a home run.

I'm glad you like them. Mine will be here today.

I only just finished the bench within days of that photo. I had been wanting to build a nice bench for the past 20 years and this was the year that I actually took the time to do it. It's also the reason that I decided to chase down a new vise. My old Record vise was too beat up to bolt it to such a nice piece of lumber. It's all way too pretty right now, but I'm sure it won't look this way forever.

Ordered a set of side cutters from Tekton for one of my work trucks and picked up a Snap on 14mm for my home box for the Highlander oil changes.

Are you going to use it, just keep it, or sell it? Curious.

Snap-on Tuesday today. Got a few things. My Craftsman 16oz ball peen is getting worn out so I got this one. Magnetic pick up tools I always break so I bought a good one so if I do break it then replacements are free and easy. And a long blow gun cause I wanted and needed it lol. All he had left was green or Hi-Viz yellow.

Why didn't you warranty the Craftsman Hammer? I seem to recall you're on a familiar first name basis with the Craftsman warranty clerks ;)

Picked up one of these for the novelty, but I will put it to some use.

First impression, I don't care for the fwd/rev selector, and the trigger wants to bind up when I squeeze it, because of how I hold the impact. Besides that, it feels great and well balanced in the hand. I'll make an edit after I hook it up to air.

Edit: Second impression. After hooking it up to air, I didn't have any issues with the trigger. Still not a big fan of the directional selector, but at least it's not plastic. It comes with a 3/8" to 1/4" bushing for the air fitting, but I used a 3/8" fitting.

That is absolutely stunning. I'm sure she's in good hands. Hope high temp paint was used, so the paint doesn't burn off when you bust out the torch.

Does the gentlemen you purchased this do this a hobby and resells these? I would be interested..

Yes. I believe that the gentleman refinishes these as a hobby and then sells them off when he finds something new that piques his interest. I don't think he's making any money unless he's placing zero value on his time. I think he was only selling this one because he found a more desirable model to play with. As far as the torch goes, I've got 3 or 4 other vises for those types of duties. This one will probably have a life of relative comfort and ease. If you're within driving distance of Fall River, MA, shoot me a message and I'll give you the contact information that I have.

I'll be in Portsmouth, VA and Bath, ME in the near future. I think I could find time to swing by...

It's been a while since I posted here, so I got a big photo dump for you guys....if you are prone to impulse buying...skip ahead before you become a casualty.

Some PB Swiss from their recent 25% off sale...

PB Swiss SAE hex bit sets. Rebuilt some industrial pneumatic tools that required sae hex bits, and realized I was pretty weak in that department.

i-dpcjVWv-L.jpg

Torx plus bits

i-sZvtGWr-L.jpg

Ratcheting driver. My second one - the swissgrips are my absolute favorites.

i-FCXMFNW-L.jpg

T30 bit socket - wanted to buy one to see how I'd like em. Fit screws better than the Snappys for sure.

i-XmJFXFx-L.jpg

Tribus' 7/8 02 sensor socket wrench. This thing is HEFTY, and 100% US made. Pretty good promo during SEMA.

i-rRvLzLw-L.jpg

i-7pW2K2D-L.jpg

i-CRSk7wp-L.jpg

Wera Tool Check Plus in SAE for the "around the house" bag. Very neat kit. Will likely pick up the metric set for the garage - this one was purchased from zoro with a 20% coupon

i-gWtMkpf-L.jpg

More Kobras..12" and 7.25".

i-wr7zSfQ-L.jpg

The new SO 1/4" drive indexing head ratchet. Couldn't resist...

i-B3CSC3g-L.jpg

Lisle (Super Scraper) Carbide Scraper. Made in Usa!

i-QcmgK85-L.jpg

Some odds and ends. Wrench is to expand on sizes not included in the deep offset set.

i-CCZhDgF-L.jpg

SO deep swiveling 10mm

i-7VKdMVS-L.jpg

SO magnetic deep 13mm in 1/4 drive...this was on order for like 3 months.

i-hbZGSgX-L.jpg

SO's smallest talon grip pliers.

i-BHnzVHj-L.jpg

Size comparison to the 97ACF's:

i-KgnGtC7-L.jpg

SO cotter pin pick. This has become one of my go to's for poking and prodin' stuff. Really beefy tip!

i-wDxfDmk-L.jpg

Vanilla, incandescent test light.

i-ZKCf49P-L.jpg

This my second one of these ratchets...planning on converting one to 3/8" drive.

i-gBgnZqg-L.jpg

Been fondling this light for a while now when I get on the truck, and finally picked it up on promo. Has a UV setting and impressive battery life. (4hr high, 20hr low)

i-XrXdVV3-L.jpg

Slightly used 12Pc SAE flank drive plus set for $220. Couldn't pass it up.

i-9gzgKMk-L.jpg

I have a SO hard handle pick fetish....it's just money, right?

i-Xqhtfwr-L.jpg

For whatever reason, my dealer wasn't sent any sets, just individuals of the pink handles.

i-gDVg8vr-L.jpg

Needed a magnetic hook, and my dealer had one that someone had ordered but flaked. I didn't need this beast of a magnet, but my dealer wanted it off the truck and priced it as such...I'm pretty sure I could do pull ups off this thing.

i-nJ7k2xP-L.jpg

In the adjustable wrench thread, the Daimond Caulk Horseshoe wrench got some praise, so I figured I'd snag this from ebay for ~25.

i-hz7tZbM-L.jpg

Knipex 85 degree head flush cuts. I think these might be my new favorite flush cuts. The ergonomics are excellent in additional to all the things we know and love about knipex quality.

i-gh98VLf-L.jpg

i-9DPS7Bb-L.jpg

Mitutoyo 0-6" coolant proof digital calipers. I've tried out/used every caliper from every major manufacturer there is, and the mittys just feel like home to me. Picked up from Zoro during a 20% coupon.

i-mK3tPt2-L.jpg

This was a gift from one of my tool dealers. Will be my first wera advent calender. 🙂

i-h3HFqXD-L.jpg

Some Armstrong wrenches from Cripe. Awesome little wrenches.

i-B3Fjgcr-L.jpg

Koken 1/4" drive extensions. Currently my favorite extensions...

i-hRt8Fp6-L.jpg

i-WWX5XS5-L.jpg

I have waited a while for this, but so glad to finally have it. Nepros 3/8 IP gold ratchet. My first Nepros ratchet and the 90 tooth mechanism is excellent - much smoother than Mac or Matco's high tooth ratchets. Fit and finish is spectacular, what might look like little scratches in the finish is actually lint from the microfiber I wiped it with!
