Been out of town most of this year, so haven't had much time for tool shopping. Did manage to blow some per diem money though!
This was allegedly the "perfect" size hose pick - I have to agree that the size is in the goldilocks zone. A little disheartened to see Made In Taiwan rather than USA. Still good value I think at $22.
Picked up the new SO brushless impact. I'm not interested in looking for high torque figures with the 14.4 battery system; I'm really a huge fan of the form factor of the tool. The CT761 was great, and this version addressed the only thing I didn't like about it. The soft rubber overmolding around the motor was always the first to fall apart on the tool. I think getting rid of it completely was a good move as far as the tools longevity. (Noone wants a tool that looks like its falling apart, right?)
My fetish for these SO magnetic mats knows no end. Trying out the mini and micro to see where they might come in handy for organization.
More snap on slotted racks for the slots-n-dots system. I had to order three more because SO recently changed their finish on accesories and my OCD would not let me have mismatched rails next to each other. These are more of a smooth stain paint finish, as opposed to the dark grey bedliner finish. I have 3 extras of these racks in the bed liner finish if anyone is interested...took months to get these.
I was shopping for a new pen light and
@Torque Test Channel did a great review on pen lights. I prefer a consistent "beam" and always disliked how streamlights have a bright center and dim edge. Bonus points for usb c charging too and the removable bite cap was a thoughtful add on.
Also picked up some things from DRPD. Got the Nepro 1/4" gold ratchet with the presidents day promo code. Now my 3/8 won't feel like the gold sheep in the ratchet drawer.
Wobble hex bits. Thought these were unique and I haven't seen anyone else offer them. Naturally, I ordered every single one they offered, which are a T8-T40 torx and P1-P3 phillips. A pretty good amount of wobble in them, and less likely to strip a screw than a ball torx.
Small "dentist" mirror.
Picked up a nepros t30 bit socket to get a feel for the quality. I knew it would be great, but this is seriously awesome. The Titanium nitride finish on the bit is stunning. Here it is next to a snap on, which I believe is just a yellow zinc finish.
This is a strange purchase for me, an SK Tuff 1 ratchet. These were offered when SK was owned by Facom and seem to have a pretty beefy pawl design. Was working with a friend who has had his for a while; it was butter smooth once worn in and I know that particular ratchet has had a 4ft cheater pipe slide over it regularly. Saw this 1/2" version for $30 on Amazon and got it since I don't have any short 1/2" drive handle ratchets...the handle on this is perfect for cheater pipe abuse. It's NOS and the factory grease looked like earwax. Cleaned it up and threw in some fresh grease.
