Rather than start another thread, I'm going to take the liberty of posting this here.

A two-hour phone conversation with my buddy yesterday got me the following "Product Reviews" on three items which have recently been topics of discussion:

You may recall GJ member tripplejl posting his newly-acquired "EZRED" S-Quarter Stick 1/4" bit driver a while back.
I ordered one and had it drop-shipped to my buddy about a month ago.

He said it's a game-changer. Allowed him to get at a fastener underneath some widget that he had to work on under the hood of some sort of diesel truck. I didn't ask for details. Bottom line: he loves it.

About three weeks ago, I picked up a couple Titan 11318 1/4" drive swivel-head micro bit drivers and gave one of them to my buddy.

He liked that one too, although he wasn't quite as pumped up about it as the "EZRED" unit.

Then there's the ICON 58200 "pliers wrench", which he's had now for about two months.

Definitely a big YES on those.
The best way for me to convey his narrative on those:
"upside down, on your back, in the dark, with your eyes closed, reaching for something at arm's length."
Whatever it was he was talking about, apparently he was able to get to it.

YMMV
Great to hear about the obstruction wrench. I have been wondering how I got along without it!

What manufacturer / brand of screwdriver is that?
It's a German CK brand, HD Classic model. They can be a bit difficult to find in the US & the places selling them here import them from the UK. Many years ago a car magazine did a test & these broke at twice the torque that Snap On failed.

I bought a set almost 40 years ago, never broke one or wore the tip out.

Smartwool / Thorlo = only way to go. Spendy, but you soon figure out why.

25 years ago, I wore Thorlo synthetic socks when hiking. And they are good. And all I heard was "Smartwool, Smartwool, Smartwool...." from other hikers. I thought they were just exaggerating how good they were, so I put off trying Smartwool for years. After I bought one pair of Smartwool, that was it, I was sold. And they even make dress socks! Yes, they are expensive, but most are merino wool, and some are even made in the USA. You can find them on sale at Sierra Trading Post.

As ZRX61 answered - C.K.

Although originally German, they are I believe a British company now. They supply a lot of British hardware shops.

Unlike some of these distributers though, they seem to take the trouble to have some decent tools made for them, generally in Germany, though there are some cheaper offerings from Taiwan too.

I believe their “Classic” screwdrivers are made by Heyco, and yes, in my experience too, they are very good quality. Most of my nut runners are C.K. My absolute favourites, bar none.

Below are the contents of my “road box” (well, as it was a year or so back). A right mix of makes but all tried and tested. C.K. drivers top left!

Ov the weekend stopped off at a garage sale. It didn’t have much, but it did have a couple Bonney screwdrivers and a SK screwdriver. Also a Craftsman hack saw and a Boker slip joint pliers.

AWD, Amflo hose ferrule crimper. I needed a few recrimped, thought about buying one but didn't cause I didn't want to pay the $100-$200+ for a new one. Well I ended up spending $30 to get 4 new ferrules crimped at a local shop. When this one popped up I debated for a while & ended up getting it. Lucky me again, no damage to the tool, unused, & they even included some tent stake thingies in the box. :D

I figured they were basically all the same between all the brands & all made in China. I was surprised to see this Amflo one is made in Taiwan. Not that it really matters to me as long as it works well.

I have no idea why this size ferrule by Milton is so cheap. $1.26 for a box of 10 shipped. Some sellers charge that for just 1 piece for other sizes. Luckily for me it's the most common size that I need so I bought 6 boxes. How do they make money on them? The other size I need is $12 for a box of 10 by Milton and it's a smaller size. I'll hold off buying those until I really need them or come across a better price.

I switched to red yrs ago for all my cordless tools but I've never had any interest in their hand tools. Never thought I would buy scissors of all things from Milwaukee. I really like them so when @dacan23 posted the V2 was coming out I bought spares (a couple of months ago).

Don't know if MW removed the rubber overmold to cut costs or if there were complaints about not holding up to chemicals or something like that. Saw the V2 in stock at HD today which reminded me. I like the V1 with the rubber overmold better, glad I got the spares. I don't use the offset one w/ serrated blade much but I bought a spare for that one just in case anyway.

The 11/16 work on the Red rubber hose. I got a lifetime supply now too. And be careful buying ferrules on Amazon if they ship from JBTools. Listing said 10PK and I received One, single ferrule. I have used mine a lot since purchase, making and redoing a buncha hoses. Might rarely use it in the future but it's in the arsenal if needed.

Thanks for the heads up. I won't need the 11/16 for a while but the price was too good to pass up & that's the size most of my hoses are. The other size I was talking about that I need is 1/2 to shorten up a couple of hoses that are bugging me. If a good price doesn't pop up I might just buy a 50 pack of the Interstate Pneumatic ones even though I don't need that many but it's a much better deal than the Milton in that size.

Yeah I've read things about JBTools. I've only purchased something from them once through ebay but their price was too good so I took a chance. Luckily I had no issues. For ferrules I'm only planning to buy from Amazon (ships from Amz) just in case I need to return them if I run into fitment issues. I think I'll stop by my local hose & hydraulic shop some day to see if they sell them.

I bought a couple orders of Milton fittings from JBT off their website without issues. Think they are new to the Amazon selling. Item sold by Amazon but shipped via JBT.
Anyway, was wondering the other day if ya bought that crimper and glad to see ya did.

And the numbers stamped on the ferrules are the Interstate Pneumatic numbering... more industry standard. If you need to restock. Makes it easier. I still need to re-buy the ones returned, from JBT.

Another neat item, but not cheap, are barbed swivel fittings. I am going to use those on a bunch of hoses at the tool coupler end.

They look like the Harbor Freight ramps to me. I picked up a set after reading a number of reports of the Rhino's breaking at the hex in the middle of the ramp. I've used mine once so far and they worked nice.

Nope. Swivel as in 360* Milton 612-* series. All out of stock on Amazon.

Ah I see, ok. When you said swivel it reminded me of the type I used for my vortex cooler for my lathe. When that swivel whip hose failed I just replaced it with a regular non-swivel hose. I kind of miss the swivel but then again I don't use that cold air gun on the lathe all that much so whatever.

But now that I have the ferrule crimper I'm starting to think about all the different custom configurations I can do for much cheaper than buying pre-made that I probably wouldn't spend the money on. Now I'm glad I got it. I added & deleted it from my cart a bunch of times before deciding to get it. Glad no one hopped on it before I finally did. Let's just say that you had a part in giving me that extra nudge. ;)

Yeah, got some plans for new Shtuff to make too. One place to use that type swivel is where you need one end of a hose to swivel for tightening between 2 stationary places. I used one on my hose reel that pivots. Needed it there for tightening and the movement it gets while pivoting is another bonus.
Considered adding 2-3ft whips with pivots to all the air tools to get couplers out of the way. But then thought about storage of the tools... didn't do that, yet. Need to figure out a new storage system for them before I go that route.

I have the same Facom wrenches...

And my CK's ( & others)... In related news, I bought that Tekton #2 phillips stubby because my CK went AWOL recently.. Then this evening I found a used one on Ebay & bought it. The older ones I have say W Germany on the handles, the later ones had the molds modified & just say Germany with the small rectangle where the *W* was.

Edit: & now I'm gonna have to buy a set of the green acetate handled Heyco's when they are back in the stock in the US next month.

Pretty much the same here. There was a time when other than fancy dress socks, the only other brand in that drawer was Thorlos, but over the years they've been replaced with SmartWools. At first that switch was because of price - I could get more bang for my buck when I cashed in my "bonus points" at REI at the end of the year. Then I figured out the SmartWools were lasting longer.

YMMV

I'm about to order a set!
Enjoy!

Don’t overpay for the set though - they usually offer sets in a (fairly substantial) plastic case on some sort of deal.C744B510-85CA-4AFC-8EBE-84EC3EFDF006.jpeg

The sets for the U.K. market tend to include Pozidriv rather than Phillips. I don’t know if they offer a U.S. set?

So far, after previously doing an online search, it appears as though that specific manufacturer's set is only offered in Europe and in Australia. :dunno:

Which is Ok by me because the majority of my tools are from foreign countries.

I always try to buy the "best quality tools" my money can get for me, regardless of price or if it's on the other side of the World.

The set that I am looking at comes in it's own plastic case and it's around 44-46 bucks.

New portable setup. Beta C27S trolley. Been looking at them for a long time, and stumbled across a good deal on one. Just starting to play around with some organizing ideas to get it setup.

Now that's cool. I want one.
Where can I buy it?

I ordered from Amazon. Prices bounce around quite a bit depending on seller & availability. Typical seems to be around $480+tax. from Beta Tools on there.

Mine was from Amazon as the seller and I watched it drop over a few days and snagged it for ~$400 total. Came very well packaged (double box with ~3" foam on all sides), not a nick on it.

Not generally a big fan of the Pittsburgh line at Harbor Freight but wanted a hammer for stakes at the campsite that I could totally abuse and this fit the scenario. C33F54C0-DB3A-4171-84E2-0FCB45F4271F.jpeg
For less than 8 bucks I can abuse the snot out of it, leave it outside in the dirt and rain, and heck, even leave it behind. My last one was a wooden handled rubber mallet and it snapped and the head went flying off into the unknown, probably in the poison ivy.

That is a dead blow filled with shot inside. The tent stakes may rip it open pretty quickly. Might want a solo head one?
