Lock-N-Lube coupler finally showed up this morning. It was supposed to arrive well before my Dewalt grease gun got here ~2 weeks ago, but USPS tracking had it stuck for 12 days at one location without moving. I see why today. The bubble mailer it was shipped in looks like it got chewed up by a sorter or something, but the coupler looks like it was spared any of the horrors.

Thinking about getting one of those 12v bosch drivers you got there. Haven't decided if I want the impact or not though. Let me know what you think of the two.

I love my Bosch driver I usually always have it on first speed unless I’m starting a zip or wood screw.

The impact just rips threads out. I use my small impact not for smaller mechanical things that are real bolts and nuts and such. Plus the impact will annihilate bits and that’s why so many bits have impact absorption zones. Just my experience

I like to feel the torque and typically only use impact for disassembly of stubborn fasteners.

I wore out my 1/2" Utica torque wrench at home, and forgot to bring home a 3/8" last weekend.
So I bought 2 new ones for work, and will rotate my work, snap on (precision instruments), ones to home.

My only dilemma is that I like to keep the torque wrenches in the cases so that I can "grab N' go" when traveling. The new cases are bigger than the old ones and don't fit in my tool box where the old ones were.

As a home gamer my vote's for Precision Instruments Flex-head Split Beams. They just work.

ugh i ordered my persicion instruments half inch like 2 months ago and it still hasnt come in. ordered through tooldiscounter and they havent been too good about replying to my emails about when it will arrive...

Not too bad for $9. The cutters are in perfect shape and I can't see any light through them. I'm calling this one a win. We'll see how the "acceptable" pair of Crescent's are tomorrow when they get here.

If accuracy is important to you, I would highly recommend that you check the calibration of your new PI split beam wrenches. Mine bought in 2020 and 2021 did not meet the 4% accuracy spec.

I've had very good accuracy out of their standard M line F series micrometers, within 1.5% accuracy. But PI's new FX series (X = extended range) have fallen short. Advertised range is 3%, I was consistently getting up to 7+% at multiple settings that were tested in the 20-100% range on...

Went to another garage sale today. They had a lot of tools. Found a tote and filled it with sockets and a few wrenches, pliers, and other stuff. The majority of the sockets are SK Wayne. Followed by Craftsman, Snap-on, make up the 3/8. The 1/2 are mainly Indestro. With a few others in the bunch.
The whole bunch was $60.

Changing u-joints last week I noticed a tiny tear in a CV boot, so ordered up some factory boot kits and some Lisle boot clamp pliers to help get'em done. Not a big fan of rebooting instead of replacing, but OEM half shafts are expensive AF and I don't put much faith in the Cardone aftermarket ones. It's not like it's hard to reboot. It's just super messy.

These have the holes for use with a breaker bar and torque wrench if you want to follow manufacturer specs for the stainless clamps.
Lisle (#30800) makes this same clamp for Matco (#30800). EDIT: And Mac (CVB3080) too.

Yeah those are good pry bars. Made by Wilde IIRC. They also make the same pry bars sold under other names. I have a set of three branded as Craftsman.

yes i have the 3 pc set with green handles branded Masterforce (Menards) they have the strike cap, and have an older single Craftsman 24" non-strike cap. fantastic value.

i have not seen a set of the Hyper Tough bars, just singles. last time i looked (probably because I'd seen it here) they only had sizes under 24" and had red handles with white letters. this time they had the small ones, 24" and 36" singles with black handles.

A few new things today.
Menda wire threader. I already have (had?) one of these but couldn't find it last I looked for it. This tool is indispensable for anyone that ever needs to cut open a wire harness (slide this under the tape and cut against this' 'v' instead of risking cutting wires) or squeeze a wire though an existing loom clip or zip tie.
ABN Stud Extractor Set. Got this set after seeing how it performed in a Project Farm vid. One of those 'I hope I never have to use any of them' but better off to have it beforehand if I do kind of tools.
Form-A-Funnel I was wishing I had this last week changing the mower's oil filter. ***** when they don't make any provision in the frame for where all the oil is going to go when removing the old one. I have the smaller red Form-A-Funnel and it wasn't quite big enough. I told myself last time I'd get one for next time and must have forgot. I'll have it next time now.

What do you plan on using the 16 ga for.....I have looked at them and wondered if I needed one....i have an 18ga and dont know if I need a larger one or not

16Ga is for door frames, window frame installs.
I only have 18Ga and a pin nailer.

ABN Stud Extractor Set. Got this set after seeing how it performed in a Project Farm vid. One of those 'I hope I never have to use any of them' but better off to have it beforehand if I do kind of tools.

Somehow missed that vid... But been using that style stud extractor for a long time. Have a couple made by Hazet and a full Stahlwille set. That hydraulic nut splitter is way cool. I have the KD 715 screw type. Most of the time the nuts just needs to be deformed to get some lube in.

Last week’s acquisitions!

First pliers wrench and already a big fan. A handful of gasket scrapers for a motorcycle engine build. The blue handled motion pro scraper has a brass blade and it’s awesome.

Finally got a real glue gun. Variable temp. Glue seems to work better than the low temp piece of junk gun I had before.



Vessel long hex bits in Vega 1/4 bit holders. Have never had a bad experience with anything I bought from Vessel.



Dayton 3/4 1140 RPM Motor for a Clausing 1766 I am getting back into working order. Should be able to go down to 300 rpm. Spent more on this than the drill press! Motor mount got bent up in shipping, but I am lazy and instead of returning it I just bent it back with my pliers wrench.

Running Low on the Free heating oil source for the shop. Scored this sloppy seconds propane heater for bout 50 bux. Didnt work but I was able to get it working again instead of returning it. Was worth the time for sure.

The first of my extra long ratchet box wrench’s turned up this week, I forgot to take a photo of it when it came in, so here’s it when I started using it. I’m really pleased with it, works great.



I wanted the full set of these, but they were coming in at over $1000…you know it’s bad when the snap on guy says ‘these come with a lot of lube’. So I ordered the 10, 13, 16, 17mm for now, will pick up the 18 and 19 when my bank balance recovers

New tools today. Slack adjuster tools. Need those for my dads truck adjusting the slack adjusters. Probably could of gotten them somewhere else cheaper but he had them and rarely does so I figured I’d get them now. Replacement 13mm socket and a pocket Phillips head screwdriver. Replacement 7 inch straight jaw locking pliers. Mine the chrome started peeling on the third use. Was somewhat disappointed about that. Hopefully won’t have the issue again. I’ll put a picture of the pair before too.

Interesting, my Malcos haven't had any issues with the chrome. Also, may just be a bad reflection or something but do those replacements have awful looking pitting in the lower jaw? Fairly certain mine don't look like that but I'll have to check again tomorrow morning.

Yes I believe that is some pitting. Honestly I didn’t know till you pointed it out. I’ll have to look at mine tomorrow as well. Possibly just a reflection too but it sure does look like pitting.
