How has that spring compressor worked out? Looking to pick one up, side work mainly cars

I used a very similar one to do the top mounts on my wife’s mustang, it was a little disappointing - there was none of the excitement or feeling of danger you get with traditional spring clamps, it just safely compressed the spring.

The only issue is you may not have enough travel on the tool to compress longer springs, a buddy used it for the front springs on his bmw 530 and it wouldn’t compress the spring enough.

Interesting to note the difference in handle length. In some cases it would be a good thing and others it could be the opposite. Although, at that size of hammer, you mean business, so I would lean towards believing the longer handle is beneficial.

I got a box from Amazon last week and it contained one box of surgical gloves and two small boxes of "lickable treats" for the cat herd. Truly laughable. I'm guessing somebody was in a big hurry, because their bosses demand a big hurry. (That's the best version. In the old days I would have just shaken my fist about lazy/stupid.)

My HF haul. Went there last night to get three or four things. And I got them!

"Braun" under-hood work light. Rubbery grips on each end can pivot and lock to various positions, and are spring loaded and can pull out of each end. I like it! Actually bought it for Ms. Squankum to use as an improvised overhead light in an E-Z Up at her business, but I think I might find a use for it the other 11 months of the year, yeah, that's the ticket....

"Braun" LED work light, they now sell the original (I have two, love 'em) and now, one that can fold shut (two pivot points.) $29.99ish, now that they have ICON things that cost more.

HF ****-O-Matic, battery powered. I love things that remove fluids from containers, reservoirs, pans, etc.

Brush set with handle, spotted this on the website the other day and thought, that is the thing for me! $20 kinda hurts, having been conditioned by HF to buy cheap **** for $7.34, but that is a lot of brushes, sizes, and three types of bristle, so I really won't complain.

You first hard handle Dual 80 or your first Dual 80 ever? I've slowly slid into Dual 80 territory over the years and I like it, I like it. (Never pay retail!) I like a lot of my other ratchets, too, so I think I'll stop with the Dual 80's I have for now. I can quit whenever I want. Some people just like ratchets and and can quit whenever they want. I can handle myself on a tool truck.

First hard handle Dual 80. I just never ran across a good deal on a used one, and couldn't justify spending the money on a new one. I have other dual 80s I love that I have bought on the used market.

Very nice! I converted from CMan clicker to this type of PI a few years back, thanks to GJ! (And Amazon.) I think what got me going was discovering my Cman clicker had been reading soft. I sure do like not having to unwind the setting when I'm done with it! I also have the 1/2" dr. for bigger things.

I believe most people like the quality of the TC hammers, however, they do not have a long warranty period. That's why most heavy users lean towards Snap-On or another lifetime warranty equivalent.

My craftsman clickers won’t lock anymore, the locking ring just spins. They’ve been that way for a long time. I’ve been on the fence about which kind to get, for a while I was locking at the snap-on tech angle (used) but I don’t know if I want to pay the price. I still may in the future but this should be good for a long time.

You still had a locking ring? Luxury! Mine broke off at some point. (OK, I was a parking lot mechanic in that era, then packing up every other weekend and going to some other parking lot or airport and changing wheels/tires for the day.)

Just checked my Amazon sales history, and in 2016 I paid $113 for the 3/8" dr. split beam by P.I., and $212 for the 1/2" dr.

Sometimes you can put things on your Amazon wish list and peek at them here and there and the price might drop notably. Sometimes it pays to wait.

Oh, and for entertainment purposes, go look up the same wrench at Snap On's website and then you'll feel better about it all.

Just got the tray on clearance, I guess a new one is coming out and yellow isn’t offered. I’m waiting for Black Friday to purchase the 5 drawer cart also in yellow. Really excited! Also lucky that yellow (which I like) is the least popular color at my HF so they actually have the carts in stock.

Quick question though, do you guys recommend leaving the casters as is or swapping to all swivels?

I recommend that you double check the calibration of your new PI wrench. Both of mine were out of tolerance when new.

Fairly decent day for tool acquisitions.

Ordered a nice array of torx impact bits. Three different sizes starting with T10 to T40. While I can confirm Zypher is the private label manufacturer, ease of warranty is definitely worth the few extra bucks if you have access to a reliable, good dealer.




Snap On BOGO's are my kyptonite. I'll never turn them down, especially when I needed something like this over the weekend. For the first time ever, I ran into a situation where a socket head screw was right up against something, so my normal hex bit sockets wouldn't fit into the hex.




I also ordered this out of sheer curiosity; snap on calls it a demo bar. I'm sure I'll find a use for it during house reno projects.




Saw this as an ad on instagram and immediately jumped onto amazon to order one. Love the size and shape of it! My vehicle uses lug bolts, so the little free magnetic trays you get at harbor freight can barely hold the 5 lug bolts. A little steep at $20, but I've got a lot of reward points to use.

Normally I try to save exhaust studs and reuse them if possible, but the nuts are usually gone. Getting metric hardware is a chore locally, and the shop can't handle online ordering and stocking items. So I bought my own.

Mytee products. I really like them. I already have 4 on my trailer (different brand, but they are all the same). I bought these because I am wanting to buy a flatbed for my pickup, and it will have stake pockets. I am also building a trailer that will use them too. Works good for ratchet straps as it keeps the straps from rubbing on the, ironically named, rub rail.

I had been wanting these for a while, but the price has been over 1K per set since mid summer.
