Just a few things from HF. Added the glue gun to my growing 20V Bauer line of tools. Tried it our last night and it works just fine. Thick knee pad feels better under my old knees then the thinner ones I have. Haven't used the tester yet. They even had the gloves in stock. Last two times I stopped in they didn't have them. Probably should have bought another box or two. I also bought the $29.00 Club.

Not sure I showed this yet... I had a credit... and this thing has been sitting in my "Wish List" for over a year. Someone here bought one or Ryan listed it or something. I got TWO. They FLIP Open a bit too easily for me to trust them in my shirt pocket but ... I already have a knife there.

Olsa socket rails and extra clips

I'm late to the game but this year I will be organized!
I swapped over to those Olsa rails... two years ago or so... Best move ever. I added small drawer pulls in those holes on the end to make grabbing them easier. My favorite feature is the ability to cut them to a better length. I ordered spare tips and extra post things...

I'm a home gamer and I can already see the advantage to these, I'll be buying more rails and clips to fill out the Florida toolbox.

Did you buy this as a set? I’m in the market for a set of new torx screwdrivers but this would take up much less room in my drawer. Part number please

I did not buy it as a set. All bought as individual pieces. Basically making up my own set, to suit my needs. The empty canvas is Wera 136471. It can hold a bunch of bits.

Milwaukee linesman pliers, a lisle adjustable seal puller, and a paint cup with removable liners. Tired of using a Solo cup after all these years.

You'll like that adjustable seal puller from Lisle. I have the exact same one and use it much more than my older MAC rigid/non-adjustable one. Although I prefer the handle on the MAC, I just don't use it as often since getting the Lisle.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback! Glad to hear it’s worked out well for you. I had a really cheap one before, that I had to cut the handle off of last time I used it due to clearance issues. Opted for this adjustable one to replace it, to hopefully prevent that from happening again haha.

Love that long VIM double bit end wrench! Gonna have to try and find one of those!

^ There was one made by a different company - double-ended unit - 1/4" hex on one end, 1/4" square male drive on the other end - with kind of an "S" shape to the whole affair with each head just a wee bit offset. It appeared in the "new tools" thread months ago. I ordered one for a buddy of mine and he was ecstatic about it. I can NOT recall the name of it now. "X" or "Z" something? :headscrat

A few Black Friday Ko-Ken things that showed up today in my mail box: At the top are two deep nut twister damaged lug nut removers in 19 & 21mm. From left to right center: thin walled magnetic 12 point 14 mm plug socket, E6, E8, & E10 swivel sockets, a 1/4 inch drive nut grip style bit holder, and a clip style 14 mm six point plug socket.
Surrounding the tools are Ko-Ken decals, lanyards, key rings, and a magnifier they sent with my order. I called Ko-Ken USA on Tuesday asking about my order since I hadn't heard anything since the we got your order email. The shipping peep was very nice explaining that they were swamped with holiday orders. However, I told him they needed to hire more peeps and that silence is never good for customer relations. It seems Ko-Ken USA likes to ship out complete orders and not partial shipments. I ordered a 22 mm deep nut twister socket that unfortunately, is on back order from the Japan Factory. The shipping peep shipped everything that was in stock and added the swag to make up for the delay and lack of communication. I think it got here pretty fast too. Once I get a couple of 1/4 drive and 3/8 in a 1/4 body 72 tooth ratchets, I think my Ko-Ken wants will be complete

Not new in age but new to me. I popped on craigslist for a minute this morning. The 1hp Craftsman 397 19360 grinder and the drill press vise where outside in the rain and need some tlc, but I think they can be cleaned up. Both tools for $60.

Got some proto ASD combination wrenches in black oxide a little while back. Ordered them individually in 10-24mm skipping a 20mm and 23mm. Pictured on a Cornwell wrench wrack, the 24mm sits separately in the bottom of my box.

The beveled entrance to the open jaws makes them easier to slip onto a fastener head which came in handy recently when I was spinning a banjo bolt down in a small area.

Compared to an old Proto, 19mm ASD on top, equivalent 3/4" on the bottom. You can see that the new ones are a bit longer and the beam meets the head and box end with a radiused fillet instead of a 90 degree parting line. The beam profile has also changed to be more of a rounded off rectangle than the pointier oval on the old ones.

Besides the ASD feature, the box end has also been redesigned. Rather than the old two-angle design, the valleys are radiused and slightly recessed back from the peaks for off-corner loading. The radius and angle on the chamfer has also been reduced which theoretically provides more contact area on the fastener.

Are my eyes deceiving me, or am I seeing a bit of a flank-drive feature in the open ends of those Protos?

Steve
Sort of, Proto calls it "anti-slip design" or ASD.

There are two notches and the jaw surfaces behind those are actually convex so that a fastener can twist or rotate slightly while remaining in contact with the flats rather than all of that force going to the corners. The curve is fairly subtle:

But unlike Snap-On or Wright designs that use teeth for extra grip, the Proto geometry is designed specifically to not mar the fastener. Working on my own vehicles and other older stuff, I appreciate that.
