I was somewhat dismayed to find out that my most recent find was not, in fact, originally intended to be used as an "oiler", but rather a dispenser for "Welderseal Adhesive".
The Landis Machine Company of St. Louis, Missouri manufactured large machinery for the shoe repair industry, among other things, so I think it's reasonable to assume that their "Welderseal Adhesive" was some sort of glue used to repair footwear.
I'm hoping I'll be able to clean it up a bit and use it for oil.
This is not the same Landis Machine Company / Landis Tool Company of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania (which later became Landis Solutions LLC, a large manufacturer of threading and cutting devices.
