Reviving an old thread here...

I just picked up this apparently unused SK half inch drive SAE set.

Anybody have comments as to vintage or value? The words “palm control” came up in my search. The ratchet works smoothly.

An eBay seller has just the ratchet up for bid at $118, claiming to have already sold 2 at that price but that’s crazy right?

No markings at all on the plastic case. Maybe there used to be a paper label???

I suspect someone (a PO) re-packaged those in that box.

I suppose I should just take the pieces out of the box and shoot a couple of pics and put them up for sale without the box. I got the set pretty cheap on Next Door so I doubt that I’ll lose money.

If you have a use for the box, but some people like or need shadow boxed tools (aircraft mechs...)

That appears to be a Government/GSA set. 1990's vintage. They were big on black blow molded cases with the foam back then. The 12 point sockets are another giveaway as there isn't a US government standard for six point sockets, only 12 points. The palm control ratchet was a US made version of the classic FACOM palm control ratchet. Although the parts may be real similar, the SK version is taller and not as crisp as the FACOM version. It does have a nice all metal handle though. Value is in the eye of the beholder but, those ratchets had a limited run, the current Facom parts won't fit in it and it's no longer supported by SK. I guess SK might give one of their regular ratchets if you broke it though.

I am used to seeing SK sets in those nice hammered green metal cases.
