I wish I could take credit for finding it, but it sorta found me. There's a used tool dealer in a small town south of where I live (Denny's Tool Crib in Oxford, KS) who sells various used tools. He goes to auctions, estate sales, garage sales, whatever and buys used tools and sells them in his shop. He's only open on certain weekends and by appointment. Last weekend I was down there getting some fills for my S-K tools, and he mentioned he had this set. I was stunned when I saw it. I didn't have that much cash on me, and he doesn't take plastic, so I went down there tonight and bought it. It is only missing the 8" adjustable wrench, plus it had a 1/2" T-bar and a 1/2" spinner, which didn't come with the set originally.
It is flawless. Real museum quality. And oddly, freeing for me. I have some duplicates, and I am always wondering if I should be using the best socket or the ratty one. Now I know I can use the best tools in my toolbox, because I have a really nice set stored away.
And for what it's worth, Denny carries a lot more than S-K. He has a web site with pictures if you want to see what sort of place he has. Google search "denny's tool crib", and the pictures don't do the place justice. There must be literally tons of tools in his shop. I have no business relationship with the place, except that I'm a customer.
And yes, I bought a set of DOE and DBE S-K wrenches tonight too. And my first (and second in the kit) 10" S-K 1/2" ratchet. I've been using a Craftsman 10" ratchet since I was 18 years old, so it nice to have a ratchet to go with all my S-K sockets.
