Installing new 750 KCMIL 15,000 volt feeders for the Deep Rock Tunnel Project. They will bore down 240' the turn horizontal and go 7 miles with an 18' diameter tunnel bore. This will connect two waste water treatment facilities so they can literally pass **** back and forth.

Quick O2 sensor replacement today

And heres the original O2 sensor re-installed because the replacement wasnt Calif emissions! This is why you use O2 sockets and try not to snip wires unless you're 100% positive.

Used the saw to pretty much cut out this section of rust. Air chisel and some spot weld cutters.

This is the worse case of rust that I've ever had to repair. I figure about 70 percent of the sheet metal is going to have to be replaced.

I'll coat the inside of the frame after I move the fuel line and wiring on the drivers side.

The passenger side just needs to have the evap lines removed.

Here is a pic of me removing the surface hardening on a piece of Chrome molly I scrounged from a hydraulic cylinder that had seen better days

I used to make a "Neck Bolt" for a Sportster - Evo transformation a guy was doing for his brother coming back from his second tour in Iraq.

This was way before the "Harleys for Hero's" foundation was ever thought of and was just one man's way of saying thank you to his brother. It was pretty tough because the guy couldn't draw mechanically and I didn't have the frame or parts he did to measure from. More then once I had to call around to the local Harley shops to see if they had a particular model on the shop floor I could go measure some parts on.

Of course at the time they all thought I was crazy because once again there was no such group as "Harleys for Heros" And to make matters a little more difficult the unit he was stationed in over in Iraq kinda borrowed Hue Heffner's logo.

I think this might have been part of the "Brake Stay" for the rear wheel

Here is the finished product with the Brake Caliper installed

Brake-Stay006.jpg

I can't remember what he filled the inlay with. He was a powder coater and I think I bought some Gold Foil and had it shipped directly to him

Then of course he needed a good set of Forward Controls to go with that Brake Stay - so once again here we go with the measurements thing again

Forward-Controls-2013.jpg

A little bit of this a little bit of that - and here is the finished product - sorta

Forward-4006.jpg

Anyway the returning vet was really happy with the whole thing - I think his wife even wrote thank you letters to all the guys who contributed to the project. There was about 6 or 8 of us from all over the country shipping parts back and forth customizing them and stuff helping this "Brother from another Mother" put this Harley together for his brother coming back from Iraq

Eventually I think the build made it into Iron Horse magazine

Great post! I love it all but usually

is why i played in the dirt with the
big Tonka toys most of my career.
