Yours for cost of shipping if anyone wants it. PM me

Wiliams shorty series. I haven't run into these in the wild yet. Nice find.

So I've had the Williams metric 3/8 impact set for some time now I guess I'll do a review on them soon. Also order the chrome 3/8 set in metric

I'm a big fan of Williams tools and recommend them to friends asking for tool buying guidance. They are great tools at a fair price and when I build up a kit for the FJ60 project it will be populated heavily with them.

For now, here are the ones that I carry on my Norton...

The homemade pouch that fits in the side cover...

The entire kit (Williams + a few German)

Chris

Picked up this set of Williams, I think from the late 30's or 40's. Have only the Williams diamond, except for one newer replacement socket that has the williams logo. Not sure if the 6 and 4 points are really Williams, or something else. There's also an extra 3/4" better built. Sockets are matte chrome bottom with polished chrome top.

The set has the 19/32 and 21/32 sockets in it, along with the more common sizes.

They're older than the Superench set I'm building, so will trade them or sell them off after I check to make sure the set doesn't have something I'm missing.

On further research, my 6 point and 4 point sockets appear to be indestro, Alloy Artifacts shows that star marking and size marking to be early Indestro.

Here's the link:

http://alloy-artifacts.org/duro-indestro-p3.html

And here's their picture, matches mine:

Is that the M-52EHFA? I just ordered one from Tools Delivered. I thought this ratchet was 7 inches long, but according to your picture it looks longer than that?

Some of that is perspective. The overall length is 8"

I don't have much Williams. I have new 12", 15, and 18" USA adjustables at work. Felt a little silly after buying them to find they are Western Forge. Only true Williams I have is Pa's chain wrench. Always said it was his wrench since it his last name is Williams.

Just got a care package... :bounce:

1/2 drive chrome is something that I use less than other chrome drive sizes. I use impacts more and mostly just to take stuff off. But, since I got a "new to me" box with a nice wide and deep socket drawer I decided to upgrade my old Mac shallows (over 20 years old and I used to run them on a 1/2 air ratchet before I could afford impacts way back in the day so they were in less than stellar condition. I knew better but you do what you have to). Plus, I'm going to be digging into a Land Cruiser rebuild so I "needed" them!

Just a little comparison...

Can you tell which is the Snap-On and which is the Williams? (Shows you how much one uses a 12pt, 1/2 drive, 15/16" socket doesn't it? NEVER)

Yep, me neither. (One set was around $200 bought +/- 20 years ago to tighten fancy head bolts during engine rebuilds, one set was $70 last week)

Here they are in their new home... I may have to pick-up the Snap-On 10mm and 11mm deeps so the sets match and to keep my OCD in check (I'm out of denial and into just accepting ).

Cheers,
Chris

How do you like them so far? I've been looking at those.

Sorry for the delay, I didn't see this.

They are fantastic. As I have said in other threads, they are solid as a rock and as smooth as your prom dates thigh.

The Williams isn't far off from its fancier F80 cousin, don't have an F936 to compare it too. Just a bit longer overall, with a narrower head that is the same thickness.

Actually, the broaching is a hair deeper on the Snap-On socket (one on the right in the photo looking into the sockets. They switched places for the frontal shot). I only noticed after I posted the pictures. These two sockets were produced almost 2 decades apart. They look really close. Either way, a terrific socket at a great price.

Cheers,
Chris

Some old school Williams 1/2" drive power sockets. Picked up the light colored ones last year, and much to my excitement today, found out I already had the three larger size stashed away in a box.

I love the style of these. Almost like an ammo shell. I wonder if that was the influence. Snap On had a similar look to theirs back in the day.

Bump!

What do you guys think, is this Williams? there is only the one mark, which could be an M or E or.... the forging of the ends do seem consistent with speeders from the 1930s on the Alloy Artifacts page.

Is Williams Superslim the same as JHWilliams? I've got a DBE 1/4AF square-11/32AF square handbrake adjuster wrench model number FPT411, I'll post a picture later.

No williams superslim are british made tools

Sometimes people confuse The Mossberg diamond M for a Williams but I'm pretty confident that is a Williams based on the ends and the stamp. Nice piece.

I picked up this Williams 3/8 (almost)set at a garage sale on the way to work today, looks like the stuff has never been used. The 3/8 ratchet is stamped Taiwan, the 1/4 inch is a Wright and the universals are SK. They wanted a whole 10.00 for all of it, I had 7.00 in my pocket and had them hold them while I went to the car to collect 3 bucks in change. Another guy spotted them and said "I'll take those if he cant come up with the money"

I searched McMaster for the kit, it comes up but shows no longer available.

I confess I'm not a Williams aficionado, anyone know what ratchet would match the set?

The William set on the right are my favorite. They are an industrial set from the 1970's that I had about half the wrenches. I have since completed the set from eBay and other places.

Nice big Williams wrench here, seller reports it was used to remove nozzles in an injection molding machine. 1 5/16"
It's next to a 1 x 15/16 DOE for a comparison.
The other is a poor pic of a S40 1/2" breaker bar

Added a new wrench to the wall today.
A pre-SnapOn triple-line #1191 2-1/16" combo. (third from left)
One more (#1193 2-3/16") and I'll have a full set all the way up to 2-1/4". :D

Time to start working on the metrics. :willy_nil
(a few large Snappy/Williams m&m's on the right)

Well, I did it again. eBay box showed up today. This time it was a set of 5 Williams short metric wrenches. They still need to be cleaned.

12mm, 14mm, 15mm, 16mm, and 18mm. All three-line superwrenches.

I think I may have an 11mm floating out the Postal ether as well.

Nine, that ratchet still baffles me. I remember when you found it. I still believe it has to be a knockoff but a darn good one at that. Looks like it does not have the signature Williams lock ring on the other side. I'd love to find one of those.

I found one of those Koto superratchets today for $2.50. got it and an Artisan SK.

I just order the 3/8 20pc shallow mm set and the 19pc deep set as well as a 32mm super combo to fill out my USA wrenches that I really love.

What is odd is that the deep set is missing the 21mm but adds a 25mm? I ordered a snapon 21mm deep to fill it in.

Cool ratchet. What do you make of it? Does it have a part #?

My girl's grandmother has a mint Williams short SAE set in the pouch in her basement and she offered it to me one time, it belonged to her late husband. I was like :)wtf::confused::( I don't need it I want it I don't need it I want it I don't need it). I told her to ask the men in her family first, I don't want any hard feelings.

Heres the Koto pics, it does seem to have a part number on the back. some kind of symbol make of two K's and a T in the middle? and looks to be RH-6??
It has red and come blue paint in the indented part of the handle... not sure if factory or not. Google doesn't turn up any info on it.
