Simple wiring question...

NEC 300.3 says that all conductors of the same circuit, including grounding and bonding conductors shall be contained in the same raceway, cable, or trench. Is it okay to have 10-2 come out of the panel to a junction box then to another junction box with wiring for outlets coming out of each junction box? I have attached a diagram to hopefully make my question more understandable.

You diagram is okay. The intent of the code is for the hot, neutral and ground to remain together in the same cable or conduit. Another issue is for your 240V circuit is if it's greater than 20A then multiple outlets are not allowed by International Residential Building Code. 30A and greater are to be dedicated circuits to one outlet (receptacle). The 240V circuit will be on a 30A outlet...so I guess that each outlet will need a dedicated circuit. Thanks for your help!!

This only applies if you are subject to this code requirement if adopted by your local jurisdiction.

Like Diesel said....why 10-2?

If you are 20A or less....just use the 12-2

If you think there is some chance you may go 30A later, then, yea, run 10-2.

Just remember, you can't daisy chain any 240Vac ckts over 20A. If you have 2 different 240 drops, each has to be it's own breaker and wires.

Personally, even if they were 20A or less, I'd still run separate ckts.

Yes you can do that, but the #12 will limit the circuit to 20A.

They're not in series. It's just a splice/junction. No different than 110V except maybe an additional conductor.

Did u mean daisy-chain? All AC outlets are wired parallel....
