It’s the same seller. I bought one of the extended shaft models too. The one you linked is a different part number but awesome none the less!

Same seller, different grinder. I just bought one too.
The first one (sold out), has an aluminum body. The second (4 left now that I got one) is steel body, but is otherwise the same.

do you think this could be a china knock-off?

I doubt it, the seller has a lot of aerospace manufacturing surplus. Seeing that die grinders are one of the most common tools they may have gotten their hands on some shop stock.

With that said it’s always possible. I’ll post pics when I get the 3 different types I ordered.

Thanks for the lead! My short and long arrived yesterday. NIB and perfect. Texas to the east coast in record time. They must have had the mailing label on it before I even placed the order!

I just bought one too.
Only $25 more than the cheapo Chinese ones on Amazon.

Now I need to find wire wheels for it to start cleaning up my 90's truck chassis so I can put a rust-preventer coating on it.

Sweet freaking deal, thanks OP. Got the regular and extended, same as Snap On angle and grinder ones I have at like 1/4 the cost!

I got my 3 and they’re by all means the real deal. The steel one is incredibly dense and heavy, it’s a tank! The extended one has a label serial, maybe it’s a factory refurb?

Anyways, the exterior packaging looked a little old by the fading of the stickers. Inside was brand new and I just tested them all out and they’re great.

...The steel one is incredibly dense and heavy, it’s a tank! ...

The anticipation is killing me. Mine is "out for delivery". With a 1HP rating, this thing is going to need to be well fed with air, but I'm expecting some serious performance.

Serious question. What will this do that my $15 HF won't? I've yet to actually use the HF one I've got, so I'm genuinely curious.

https://www.harborfreight.com/1-4-quarter-inch-rear-exhaust-air-die-grinder-52847.html

I have both the HF compact 1/4" grinders (that one you linked), as well as their full sized ones.

I'll start out by saying I really do like my HF grinders. They're a fantastic bargain!

However, the compact 1/4" die grinder is not all that powerful. I really only use it with 1/8" shank tools for that reason (also, because mine came with the 1/8" collet in addition to the 1/4" one). And most of my 1/8" diameter tools really work better when spun faster, so I only use it on my cheap set of 1/8" steel shanked carbide head aluminum cutting burrs that I found were not safe at higher speeds (i.e. in my turbine grinders where I only use solid carbide tools).

My full sized 1/4" carbide burrs really need more power than that compact grinder can deliver. The full sized HF grinder does have decent power, but I'm hoping that this has even more.

edit: and I just opened mine up. Holy hell this thing feels solid! I'm ready to cut a tank in half with a die grinder now. And if it doesn't work, I'll make a good lump hammer.

Rlitman, let us know how the steel one works out. I tested all 3 of mine but only put the aluminum one into immediate use. It’s great so far.

I will add the steel one needed a manual spin to get it started the first time. Good to go now.

It’s about the same size as the bigger HF grinder, but is significantly more powerful, and is WAY quieter. I don’t use my HF grinders without hearing protection. The Sioux can be comfortably used without.

Also, unlike the HF, it doesn’t have a plastic end cap holding the motor together, and the lever is much easier to use.

All said and done, I’m very happy with my purchase!
